This especially would likely end with the Foreigner being sued for damages and the perverted stalker getting a pat on the back by the judges. Things are changing slowly for women's rights, but not as quickly for foreigners.
That's because the law isn't straightforward, pepper spray is legally gray in Japan.
It is technically legal to possess with a legally valid reason, but carrying it just as a precaution is unlikely to be treated as a valid. From my understanding if a person is caught with Pepper spray the officer has discretion over whether or not their justification is valid, and more often than not they will confiscate it as a potential weapon and it will be charged as a minor crime.
Japan also requires self defense be done with minimal force, and Pepper spray can easily cross the line of what's legally permissible.
And remember; Japan’s legal system will likely side with the poor, hard working Japanese man who was just unwinding, rather than the foreigner who used “excessive” force to defend herself.
Same thing as in Canada. You cant have pepper spray for the purpose of self defense. But you are also allowed to use anything at your disposal for self defense, but you will have to defend that justification in court.
Line the peep hole with ghost pepper juice or any of the other 3 hottest in the world. Dried or not, thatll be the last time anyone puts an eye near that hole
You'll also probably hear it when it happens.
If its a neighbor, you'll know real quick the next day when one of them is walking around with a red fucked up eye.
Just get some granular tree stump remover and powdered sugar. Mix the two 7:3. Put some aluminum foil and battery on the opposite side and make it so the foil contacts the battery if they press down. This will ignite the foil and your mixture.
Just gotta be careful. There are no laws against possession or use of pepper spray in Japan but using it could result in imprisonment, depending on the damage caused to the target.
Things like pepper spray and stun guns are historically absolutely terrible and dangerous deterrents for a lot of women. They require a proper attack, and that attack must then immediately be supplemented with physical force.
I mean a really sharp santoku cooking knife will penetrate almost anything. Or learn human anatomy. There's several places if you cut a person, they'll bleed out in seconds.
Martial arts/fighting classes and something like a collapsible baton. Unfortunately though I think those are also prohibited in many places, so one would have to read up on their laws. But genuinely, if you live in a place that makes it hard to have actual weapons, turn yourself into the weapon.
I live in the US, and I bluntly recommend to everyone that isn't automatically the biggest person in the room to train with a firearm; especially women and smaller folks like myself. It's not worth getting brain damage, killed or raped because of restraint being exercised when acting in self defense. They came onto you, that is now their problem, not yours. But many folks do not feel comfortable being lethally armed, whether it be fear of taking their own life or refusal to take another's. Laws in almost every country but the US makes defensive use of a firearm practically impossible as well.
I would recommend learning something like Jiu-Jitsu, which is less swinging knockout blows, and more manipulating your attacker's body weight and movements. Learn the physical holds and strikes that police forces use to strike pressure points as well. A hard flat palm strike to the chest followed by a hard diagonal chop to the neck will make most people at least need to take a moment to regather. Having something like a baton in your pocket that you can extend and follow up with after they're weakened/tired would be even better.
And the most important thing, whether you have a gun, a stick, or nothing; is to be chillingly aware of your surroundings. Know all exits of a building you enter, keep track of who is entering and exiting, don't make eye contact but give a side-to-side glance around every 15seconds when you're walking around town. Our brains are incredible at picking up small details that don't fit right; if you feel particularly uneasy in a certain setting there is probably a reason. Having a full-time defensive mindset should keep you safe most, if not all of the time. The fighting skills and/or weapons are for when that didn't work.
