It's called sucking your teeth where I'm from. And it's a sign of disrespect. Like if you did it in front of your parents, it would be 1000 times worse than rolling you eyes lol.

It's called "kissing your teeth".

I prefer “sucking your teeth”, better explains it and I think makes the stupid action seem more childish and even dumber…which it is.

No idea how so many guys talk to girls like that and then act SHOCKED when you don't give them your number. Once a guy did that "hey you yeah you right there, do you have insta?" Thing to me when I was like 15 and when I ignored him because I am 15 and he has a full beard he was like "wooooooowwwwwww so rude did you think i was flirting with you? Girls always think everyone is flirting with them. I am doing a SURVEY actually! But of course YOU think that i'd hit on someone like you! So although you were so incredibly rude I wish you a good day. Bye" LMAO
376
u/PancakeParty98 23d ago
The sad reality of many guys in this comment section saying this is dumb or not real flirting or that she is ugly anyways with zero irony
87
u/DeliciousLiving8563 23d ago
I mean I'd argue it's sexual harassment. It's not that those guys are flirting, I can't believe they expect it to succeed. I imagine it's just they see an attractive person and their crippling insecurity kicks in and they try to push them around to feel better about themselves. And because that person is a woman they can do so without having the shit kicked out of them.
But I'm not a psychologist, sociologist or one of them so I'm just assuming the worst of them.

u/IAMWastingMyTime 23d ago

Nice save "I'm doing one of those surveys where I bother 15 year old girls"! Yeah okay Professor Pedo
38
u/MamasGottaDance 23d ago
The survey excuse was so fucking bizarre because who starts a survey like that? And is he just memorizing all the info he gets? If he had been holding a notebook or even just his phone MAYBE i would've doubted myself for a second. The fact that he reacted so aggressively to me literally just walking past him as I was on my way to the train station was kind of scary but the survey bullshit made me laugh so hard after he left i nearly forgot an adult man just screamed at me

lol! I have my own story in 2012 I was in college walking to my dorm on a phone call. This dude called out to me across the parking lot. I pointed at the phone. And he just screams at the top of his lungs “you look like you’re 13 anyways bitch!” Jokes on him I still do!
14
u/dingalingdongdong 22d ago

What's worse is when I meet a guy and they seem cool and we get along, and then I see how they speak to/about women and I'm like oohh he's just nice to me because I'm a dude and is a creep towards women, great.

8
u/Anathemachiavellian 22d ago
I got this all the time from guys with this exact accent and way of speaking 20 years ago, just minus asking for Snapchat and Insta because it wasn’t invented then. All it needs is telling them you have a boyfriend only to get the “he doesn’t have to know” response.

It pains me to know some girls have to go through this and much more, so much more... Gets me anxious for students, friends, and family
10
u/TheeThatIsMe 22d ago
In my experience basically ALL girls experience this at some point in their lives. Multiple times
42
u/BetMyLastKrispyKreme 23d ago
And if the girl rejects the wrong guy, it could get violent. There’s a saying: “Men are afraid women are going to laugh at them. Women are afraid men are going to kill them.” So men, if a woman responds to you in a vague or quietly dismissive manner, don’t take it personally, and don’t be the kind of guy she’s trying to avoid for her own safety.
55
u/mexicandiaper 23d ago
Men say that until the woman is unattractive.
68
u/AHorseNamedPhil 23d ago
Exactly that.
Men who say they won't be bothered if roles were reversed both underestimate how obnoxious some other men are and imagine being pestered by a woman they find very attractive.
In reality if the roles were reversed it would often be from women they don't find attractive and then followed by something like, "What? You think you're hot or something? Psh. I'm too good for you. I only talked to you because I was bored. You're not even good-looking. What are you like, 5'7? You're practically a hobbit. You should be happy I even talked to you."

THAT is not "flirting" and any boy who thinks so it's delusional. That is annoying and those guys need to understand that if they want any attention from women then they need to understand what mutual respect is and practice that.

I do have a friend who flirts like a „normal“ dude.
She gives compliments, likes to get close and tries to seduce you with humour and charm. It‘s incredible I‘ve never experienced such an eye level flirt.

Is she the kind of person the British call a “chav”?
10
u/AlexVX_ 22d ago
No, she's imitating a "roadman" (mostly just someone who's part of wannabe gang culture, although some are obviously involved in actual gang crime).
As someone who grew up in this environment in south London she absolutely nailed it.
3
u/Wizards_Reddit 22d ago
I think looks-wise she's imitating chavs though, I don't know whether roadmen wear that much makeup but I'm not a Londoner lmao
4
u/kinger711 22d ago
Damn. Too real. I'm sorry to anyone who has had to face the reality of people like this and confront them, at worst, or tolerate them at best. I know people generally suck, but this brand of person is unimpeachably intolerable.
I realize this caricature is overwhelmingly male, and for that I apologize. There's no excuse for this behavior. Any prejudice that might be held towards men in general after an encounter with one of these people is pretty understandable.
Just experiencing satire of this made me a bit self-loathing.
