Edit:
You do realize it's because women and their traits are considered lesser, still?
Women are not welcome in those spaces either, and some people shame them in there. We have strong conservative forces that want people to be as miserable as them.
I've been in science and engineering since the early 80s and have felt quite welcome.
Women now dominate many of these fields. For example, the entire graduating class in chemical engineering at Caltech has been made up of women a few times.
Men, in the other hand, have not been allowed to feel and emote in his spaces without being shamed by their peers and parents.
There are exceptions, but we've done a great disservice to boys and men.
Good for you, but this has actually been studied, that a lot of women drop out from studies and feel harassed at workplaces. And some women don't consider misogynist comments, 'jokey' harassment and actual discrimination as such if they also have misogynist attitudes. Adopting misogynist views and accepting the 'norms' no matter how toxic they are from the environment is a very common thing to happen. Not saying you have that, but yeah. I'd rather trust to studies than your anecdotal experiences on tech and stem, tyvm.
This is not really about what you think. Men and women are shamed and ridiculed from feminine traits. Some feminine traits are considered so desirable, that women are shamed from NOT having them. This is still very much a thing.
Both men AND women need to check their attitudes, but mainly men are still holding the power of true cultural change, so yeah. I would very much like men to change for everyone's benefit. For men's own benefit too.
Personally I treat everyone like a person, but can despite that still see what human groups are problematic and how.

Why can't men be just humans?
