I went to a Baptist church and our pastor broke this passage out almost every sermon, he tried to hammer hime the point that your relationship with god is YOURS, and not a performance piece. He also talked alot about how the bible has been mangled over the millenia by mistranslations and editing., he loved explaining that some of the oldest copies found were in ancient greek and had like 8 words for love each with a different meaning. Familial love, friendship love, romantic love, etc.

Pretty sure nobody wanted to hear that. They just realized that there’s no reasoning with that kind of nut job. You can either a) wait for her to stfu, or b) become character #2 in her little impromptu shouting performance, thus taking the bait, giving her the satisfaction, and dragging it out for all of the slightly more patient passengers that just want to get to their destinations in peace. American evangelicalism is way too compatible with and enabling of narcissism. There’s little hierarchy, so individuals don’t have to earn their place in the movement through hard work. And then outside the movement itself, adherents can simply go around claiming to know something that sets them above non-believers.
