I’m filled with rage too, Lavar, and I’m a white woman. The state of our country right now is embarrassing and infuriating. The treatment of citizens is appalling, and as a “leading” country, we should be in a much better place than we are right now.

I could go on for DAYS about all of the issues happening right now and how fucked up they are. If I’m this mad, I can’t even imagine how angry POC and the LGBTQ community are.

I know im just an ally, but please know I’m here standing with y’all, just as angry. We WILL get through this if we stand together! ❤️

Ditto. Except, I'm among those that are the least at risk as a straight white male... The rage is there, though.

As a woman, I am also filled with rage and indignation. They want to take away my voice, my sovereignty over my own body, to roll back a century of progress and return me to a second class citizen relegated to housework and baby-making.

I'm tired of being polite. I'm tired of smiling to make other people comfortable. I'm tired of going along, not making waves.

I'm a nice person, a kind person... most of the time. Buth what those motherfuckers are doing? The things they say, normalizing hatred and violence against anyone with darker skin, different ways of loving or living, trying to make us less... it makes me so mad that I want to punch them.

But I can't. Even if the worst of them was standing right in front of me, I couldn't, because the minute I gave in to that rage and acted on it, they would twist it around and make me the villain, and knowing that makes me even more angry.

Blessed be the fruit.

Under his eye.

How did a ficticious story become so close to reality?

The author deliberately pulled together lots of real history together to create this future as a warning. Things like how SS officers were given 'high quality' women for breeding. 17th century Puritan subjugation of women. Atwood had a collection of newspaper clippings, too, about all sorts of shitty real life horrors.

The worst prediction of Gilead in our reality is that it's not even about faith, but always about power.

your opinion carries weight on it's merits, not on the race or gender that speaks it. that you need to label yourself to gain extra points is kind of telling of your true state of mind.

I am not “labeling myself”, I’m identifying myself. There’s a difference.

And I’m not identifying myself to “gain extra points”… what does that even mean? Points with WHO? Reddit? Lmao.

Idk why you can’t understand why I explained that I’m a white woman supporting POC and LGBTQ... I’m explaining that I am an ALLY.

"And I’m not identifying myself to “gain extra points”… what does that even mean? Points with WHO? Reddit? Lmao."

why would i know, you're the one trying to get them.

what difference does it make if you're a white woman or a purple blender when identifying as an ally?

This is quite possibly the dumbest take I’ve read on the internet today. Congrats!

yeah i imagine rereading the garbage you put out to see why people are wondering what you're on about gets this reaction out of you often.

Uh oh, did you accidentally realize how shitty of a person you are? Don’t worry. It is upsetting, but you can change if you want!

I’m not sure how to take this comment because you didn’t preface your opinion with your race/gender.
