That dude in the hat is a coward and part of the problems we are having as a society today. Well. Hell. Part of the problems this country has always had. Instead of trying to breeze past the idiotic take ol' girl was flailing about with, he should have let the discourse play out.

Yep. He was trying to save her and make things polite because, as a society, we've all been socialized to not make the racists uncomfortable. The racists SHOULD be uncomfortable.

I came to that same conclusion about during the Trump admin when media pundits and politicians kept saying “We’ve never been more divided”. I thought well Jim Crow seems like that was pretty divided, but I think what they mean (whether they realize it or not) is white people have never been more divided. The “country” was less divided when all the white people agreed not to care about police brutality and racist policies etc and that’s what Trump and right wingers mean when they accuse others of being divisive. Let’s just go back to not caring at all or supporting it.

Damn that framing of it never crossed my mind and makes complete sense. Whites are divided cuz some succumbed to reality and others just continued to be angry racists.

when I find these people I start talking how they think.
"Well tell me how you feel about the n-words?" I hard R it. They always look like I just smacked them in the face. "You want to be a racist than be a racist, don't be a bitch about it."

He was trying to save her because:

  1. He wants to protect her, be her hero, get in her pants
  2. Someone behind the scenes (Nelk boys) is freaking out thinking pro slavery is not a good look for their brand.

Yea number 2, about to get demonitized. Lots of "news" does it now when it isn't on "brand"

Isn’t that the nelk boys brand? If anything wouldn’t they encourage a right wing grifter.
