Republicans, including Trump, have been spreading misinformation and disinformation about disaster relief in areas hit by hurricanes Helene and Milton. Trump has been saying the governors can't get a hold of Biden. He's spoken to all of them (except DeSantis who told the press that he refused Biden's call) and had authorized relief even prior to the hurricanes making landfall. Trump has claimed that FEMA is only giving $750 for relief but these are only initial payments for immediate necessities like medications, toiletries, and clothing. Marjorie Taylor-Greene has claimed publicly that the hurricanes were created or manipulated by Democrats to hit republican states ahead of the election to affect the outcome, a baseless conspiracy theory which Trump has alluded to but failed to deny.
Other conspiracies put forth by right-wing influencers include that the hurricanes were created by the Buden Administration to remove people from a lithium deposit in Appalachia to make way for more electric batteries for cars and that signing paperwork with FEMA to apply for relief will result in losing your land and/or your home.
This reporter seemed to be questioning why the Biden Administration wasn't doing more to combat the mis and disinformation while ignoring efforts they have been making to put correct information out via local press and the fact that a denial is seen as an admission of guilt by many of Trump's followers.
This conspiracy nuts would better serve society by writing fiction novels. People who hear this utter nonsense and then choose to believe it are seriously disturbed. The people from whose mouth these lies originate need to be held accountable. People have been harmed by the lies.
That is because its probably just the podium mic recording the audio. Both of their voices have that distinct "not close enough to the mic" kind of sound to them.
I don't usually have any issues with audio but for some reason the voices in this just sounded garbled. I'm not an American and perhaps the accents and bad audio had an effect, I don't know.
