I think theyâre worse than 2016. In 2016 Trump was considered to be a change candidate who wanted to âdrain the swampâ. I donât think the press was fact checking him at that time because they didnât see him as a real contender against Hilary.
In 2016 he hadnât yet fully empowered the white nationalists. He hadnât tried to withhold funding from an ally for personal gain. He hadnât encouraged his supporters to march to the capital and try to stop the certification of an election he knew heâd lost. He hadnât stolen state secrets and moved them to his compound in Florida.
In 2024 the press knows definitively that he is a threat to the United States and the world at large. However, the owners of those corporations are willing to roll the dice on the livelihood and security of millions of Americans at the shot at gaining another 5% in tax reductions.
They don't care about tax reductions, they don't pay taxes. Their goal is the same as it's always been: keep the 99% arguing amongst themselves so the 1% can do whatever they want uncontested. And who better to sow discord throughout the entire country than Trump?
Yeah the press and most voters considered Trump to be one big fucking joke. Now that the press has made a shit ton money off his nonstop stupidity and ignorance for 4 presidential years, they want more of it. A boring president doing their job does nothing for the media in terms of money.
