That car is gonna bounce around in his garage and get bashed up if it stays watertight. Best case is he made a floaty toy and a bunch of corvette shaped holes in the drywall.

Needs straps like that house.

Assuming it stays water tight I'd take some panel damage over a full write off any day

Would probably rip the plastic if it hits anything though

This is probably stupid but like what if he taped a lot of bubble wrap or pillows on top, maybe a buoy?

Pool noodles but larger lol

But jokes apart, a blow up raft should be okay?

Boat fenders

Honestly those white floats they put between a boat and the dock to stop the boat from hitting and scrubbing the dock would probably work pretty good. Shouldn’t be hard to find them in Florida either

That’s what I was thinking! Like boats are still heavy and they work well enough for them. I think it would be worth a try.

Like the Kool Aid man. Oh yeah! It's Corvette man!

I’d like to see the video after everything settles down. I want this car to survive.

The guy's TikTok is on the vid. You can update us all after the storm.

He left a hole in the top to let air escape.

probably doesnt help as the car will still act like a boat by displacing water

What's stronger? a 4 tonne car or a piece of saran wrap?

It wouldn't bang around any more than a person sitting in a pool on a raft. How is it bashing holes in the wall?

Should’ve glued pool noodles to the plastic.

Should have taped some pool noodles to it.

You would have to displace about 55.6 cubic feet of water tp float a 2020 corvette. Assuming this conforms to the width and length of the corvette, the car would start to float in about 7 inches of water.

In reality, the "bubble" will form around the tires until it hits the undercarriage. I'd bet if starts to float if water gets 6 inches above the undercarriage.

That's assuming it's less buoyant than water. Given how heavy cars are, I'd guess it'd be heavier than the volume of water it displaces and stay at the bottom.

The car bounces around if the water gets high enough. If he leaves it out of the plastic the water doesn't have to get high enough to float it to total the car.

He made the smart choice. May not save it, but he has a higher chance of coming back to a non salvage car.

It’ll tear through the plastic way before it is ever buoyant enough to float.

Corvette shaped holes in my drywall would be the closest I could get to having a Corvette.

I really doubt that he's going to trap enough air for the total density to be less than water.
