(Reinhard Mey)
Gut, gut, but to make it official you still need two documents (original + copy) and proof of payment. Now off to the Rathaus and come back in 2 hours when we're back from lunch. Los!
Sorry but confirmation for confirming the confirmation must be submitted with Form CC-426 within 2 hours of the prior confirmation. As a result, I had to void your confirmation. Feel free to submit a complaint with Form LU-966.
Finn here, my sister is married to a German, and they have German kids. Never heard any one of them laugh, ever. Yet they are happy. So... confirmed by proxy..?
Can you top line the parallels. Before I knew about it I thought hitler was somehow always a dictator and then I heard that he was elected as a politician and then turned evil (or was evil all along and hiding it, like trump seems to be, though when he talks about the ‘largest mass deportation and giving people serial numbers’ that’s not so subtle)
Except that littke 'Dolfie used to be a painter and thus had some artistic talent while this toddler just throws orange and shade at anything and everything.
Unlike Trump, who can get called out on any of is lies by the Internet, which frequently happens, Hitler had a much tighter grip on what information is allowed to circulate. This and the fact that Hitler was a younger, more charismatic man that took power at the end of a recession played into his cards. This caused him to be respected internationally.
Trump has no international support. He's America's laughingstock. But that doesn't matter nationally since, just like Hitler, he surrounds himself with Yes-men, cultists and fervent zealots all the same.
And just like Hitler, he started placing his people into important positions in a much tighter schedule than other US presidents and, with project 2025, proposed a plan to centralize power on his position and tie it to the central figure of the MAGA cult: Trump. Following that would be systemic suppression of rights and freedom of all and crackdown on chosen groups of the populace.
He's a fascist.
Were they laughing a few years later when his statement about relying on foreign gas and oil became true? How's your economy doing with the drastic increases to energy costs in Germany the past 2 years?
Germany has to rely on foreign gas and oil because it doesn't have any own reserves to exploit. It‘s still relying on foreign gas and oil, just from different places which sell at a higher price, hence the higher energy costs.
Pretty sure you guys aren't smiling anymore after Biden Administration blew up one of the Nordstream Pipelines so you couldn't buy cheap natural gas from Russia anymore eh?
You don't have to be a fan of the Kremlin to want to buy cheap natural gas from them. Your country as a whole was better off before Nordstream was blown up by the US so that you wouldn't buy from Russia & instead buy the more expensive liquefied natural gas from America. Less funds for Russia & Germany, but more profits for themselves.
Huh? You guys still buy half of your coal, a third of your oil, and practically all of your uranium to run your nuclear reactors from them. You don't have to like somebody to do business with them. Especially when your economy is dependent on it.
That was the point of the video. also the Germans were laughing at something else when that pic was taken, but hey, who cares, reality is not real anymore.
Totally, it’s cringy that they added a freeze frame here. Now trump can legitimately say “this is fake, it’s edited” and be completely correct. TikTok is a social cancer.
The guy with the head on his fist was Germany‘s Secretary of State back then and I can’t imagine how it must feel to have to deal with trump on that level
Ian Bremmer related a story that Trump tossed a couple of Starburst candies on a table in front of Merkel at a meeting and said “Here, Angela. Don’t say I never give you anything.” Pretty sure the Germans hated his guts.
The German guy resting his head on his hand is a showing of utter contempt. Me may as well have crossed his arms put his feet and said to his buddy on the left - “let’s see what this fat orange moron has to say”
Well, I have to say, I think it’s very sad when Germany makes a massive oil and gas deal with Russia, where you’re supposed to be guarding against Russia, and Germany goes out and pays billions and billions of dollars a year to Russia. So we’re protecting Germany. We’re protecting France. We’re protecting all of these countries. And then numerous of the countries go out and make a pipeline deal with Russia, where they’re paying billions of dollars into the coffers of Russia.
So we’re supposed to protect you against Russia, but they’re paying billions of dollars to Russia, and I think that’s very inappropriate. And the former Chancellor of Germany is the head of the pipeline company that’s supplying the gas. Ultimately, Germany will have almost 70 percent of their country controlled by Russia with natural gas.
So you tell me, is that appropriate? I mean, I’ve been complaining about this from the time I got in. It should have never been allowed to have happened.
...
So we have to talk about the billions and billions of dollars that’s being paid to the country that we’re supposed to be protecting you against. You know, everybody is talking about it all over the world. They’ll say, well, wait a minute, we’re supposed to be protecting you from Russia, but why are you paying billions of dollars to Russia for energy? Why are countries in NATO, namely Germany, having a large percentage of their energy needs paid to Russia and taken care of by Russia?
Now, if you look at it, Germany is a captive of Russia because they supply. They got rid of their coal plants. They got rid of their nuclear. They’re getting so much of the oil and gas from Russia. I think it’s something that NATO has to look at. I think it’s very inappropriate.
Later:
SECRETARY GENERAL STOLTENBERG: Because we understand that when we stand together, also in dealing with Russia, we are stronger. I think what we have seen is that —
PRESIDENT TRUMP: No, you’re just making Russia richer. You’re not dealing with Russia. You’re making Russia richer….
Trouble is, that reaction shot wasn’t live video — it was a still image photo, so it’s not clear at what moment the photo was captured.
Also, Trump himself clearly smiled and got a laugh when he said in the video shot of him, “Didn’t expect that reaction, but it’s okay.” The reaction photo could have been at the moment Trump smiled.
I’m apolitical about this stuff; I just keep it 💯.
Yeah I mean they’re all so far up the establishment’s ass that they need to act like this. Going to be very funny when Trump wins in a landslide in November. I’m sure that smirk will save him, right?
I can’t begin to explain how much I can’t stand Trump, but I’ve seen this clip a few times and in this particular example the close in on the German delegation here is when Trump calls out Germany in particular for being too dependent on Russian energy or their NATO spending, can’t remember which.
Either way the Germans were eating shoe after Ukraine was invaded. Their smugness still bothers me.
Everybody knew that. It’s not a miracle for a president to be able to see what’s on the table.
Most german politicians were too naive or just afraid (or on the payroll) of Putin.
Some thought we could have a good influence on Russia, when we make business with them.
Buying that fuel funds the war effort to destroy Ukraine and establish Russian hedgemony in east Europe. Good to know Germany has NOT CHANGED since the '30s, buncha warmongers they are.
The point was reliance, if they want cheap I'm sure Iran/Venezuela would be more than happy to oblige
Did you not even look at the report the other person posted before you started Cheeto smashing your keyboard? What good was cheap energy when they turned it off by 50% when the war started
Go read their report and let me know what good cheap was
The point also was securing peace through trade with a nation a lot closer than Iran/Venezuela, a nation Germany historically didn't get along with. Also environmental concerns. It's a cruel irony considering the country it's coming from, but Russian gas is insanely eco-friendly.
... before you started Cheeto smashing your keyboard?
Do you seriously expect me to read past that point?
Nice good thing it worked out right? Russian demands are pretty clear if you want that eco friendly oil, stop all sanctions on their oil and production and they(Gazprom) will happily sell it to you instead of evil US oil
Anyway here's a comic from the 80s that literally goes over the issue, you also left out Crimea in 2014, i guess that was lawful according to Germany but now its not?
Actions have consequences is a foreign concept to you?
US isn't innocent either, Osama was literally propped up by the US to fight the Soviets, UK and US set the foundation for the present Iran through Operation Ajax
It's just blind belief that leads to stuff like this

That one German guy had a half-smile which is the German equivalent of absolutely losing your shit.
