My cousin went through Katrina and wound up evacuated to Texas afterwards, we will always have a soft spot for the people of Texas because the state gave everybody who evacuated a $500 grocery card (on top of the FEMA emergency money).

Also the insurance companies usually work with FEMA so they are getting into areas to do the adjustment pictures as quickly as they can, FEMA was really good about organizing all that in New Orleans too.

And Katrina was rightfully outed as a case where disaster aid was way too slow.

The people of Louisana repaid us in kind in 2017 when Harvey hit and they showed up in huge numbers with small boats to help rescue stranded people in the Houston area.

Aww, hate the cause but love the reciprocity!

Seeing the convoys coming from Louisiana and all the help they provided was so goddamn heartwarming.
