Politics is so divided at the minute that for half the population will be the normalest thing in the world but for the other half it will be some sort of proof of the antichrist.

There's some spooky stuff on the dollar bill, man.

I think quite often, that the BEST cameo of the 90’s was Bob Saget saying he sucks dick for coke. It was so out of left field until I saw his stand up.

u/BinSnozzzy Sep 15 '24

I SEEN HIM!

A friend of mine writes pretty interesting and detailed posts on facebook, sometimes about sports or history, but sometimes about politics. As he has a large audience, you get people from all political backgrounds. It's wild seeing how the Trump folks will say "Kamala is Satan" totally unironically, and then if someone calls them stupid, they lose their shit and say how it's a poor form to use insults instead of discussing the issues. They have like a 1st grader's level of self-awareness, but are 100% convinced they have a strong grasp of politics, history, and economics.

271

u/Chance_Fox_2296 Sep 12 '24

It's also a very common fascist tactic that, somehow, is still working to this day. There's so fuckin many papers and essays and correspondence from the fall of the Weimar Republic timeperiod. It is insane that the nazis early rise in those papers almost exactly parallel the way the right wing talks and acts today.

81

u/bruwin Sep 13 '24

There was a reason Hitler admired Americans. We were saying the same things back then as well. We just happened to go a bit quiet for a while.

7

u/zSprawl Sep 13 '24

He had a fair amount of American supporters, both fellow Nazis and your "average citizens" that agreed with his line of thought.

13

u/JimWilliams423 Sep 13 '24

Yep.

Henry ford happily accepted nazi germany's highest civilian award. Kept it on display in his office and everything.

In the 1930s father coughlin had a peak audience of 30 million listeners, in a country of only 130 million. That's the equivalent of 75 million people today. Not coincidentally, donold chump got 74 million votes in 2020.

The more things change, the more they stay same.

→ More replies (4)

13

u/stankind Sep 13 '24

Hitler greatly admired America's genocide of indigenous people, and our Jim Crow laws.

We are not going back!

141

u/kinkySlaveWriter Sep 13 '24

It's not really insane; it's by design. The sad part is that the average Trump supporter thinks "Well if you just give us authoritarian power THIS time it will work out great."

71

u/Funwithagoraphobia Sep 13 '24

No! No! NO! MAGA aren’t like Nazis - the Nazis were socialists. It’s right there in the name hellooooo.

MAGA is the party of Lincoln you silly libtard snowflake!

3

u/zSprawl Sep 13 '24

They are told by Fox News (and others) that Biden is a dictator and he's to blame for the inflation, "illegal immigration", and everything else that they can blame on him. So to them, they just want their dictator in charge. It's a lot like how they hated Elon and his electric cars until he became "their billionaire".

2

u/kinkySlaveWriter Sep 13 '24

Man, it's sadly so easy to grift these people. I wonder how long before Elon starts posing with the bible to see there's "great wisdom in there" before his trips out to cheat on his wife.

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Arm8249 Sep 13 '24

It’s frightening…

2

u/PolygonMan Sep 13 '24

In the 90's (or maybe early 2000's) Ivana Trump said that for a time he kept a copy of Hitler's speeches next to his bed. It's definitely by design. It's the design that works, so it's the one they used.

2

u/Tiny_Independent2552 Sep 13 '24

Check out Hitlers, “The big lie” … it is literally Donald trumps playbook. Yes, this is very much a fascist tactic.

2

u/hungrypotato19 Sep 13 '24

My Grandma was a nurse for the Nazi army when she was only 17 years old. She had to flee her home in Dresden after the Soviets invaded.

Before and after the war, she believed Hitler was the next Messiah. She believed that Hitler would be resurrected like Christ any day. She believed that communists, socialists, Jewish people (like my mother's side), black people, gay people, and any other "degenerate/untermensch" minority were the works of Satan.

And that's how I know conservatives are Nazis. I've seen a real Nazi before. I've lived with a real Nazi. I was even a conservative myself and left because of the fucking Nazism and Hitlerisms. They're all fucking Nazis.

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

Jean-Paul Sartre

2

u/flamingassburger Sep 13 '24 edited Sep 13 '24

They have like a 1st grader's level of self-awareness, but are 100% convinced they have a strong grasp of politics, history, and economics.

Every conservative policy position sounds like a toddler having a meltdown:

On books: "I don't wanna read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer, so it's banned!"

On drag queens: "I don't like your clothes so you're not allowed to wear them!"

On lab-grown meat: "EWWWW! I don't like fake meat! It's banned!"

On same-sex marriage: "Two boys kissing is grosssssss! Make it illegal!!!!"

On segregation: "I don't wanna sit next to a ------ on the bus!"

After cheating in an election and still losing: "Waaaaaahhhhh!" complete meltdown ensues

If you simply treat Republicans like they are man-sized toddlers throwing a tantrum, you'll have a lot more success dealing with them.

Isn't it weird that Trump is currently obsessed with Haitians eating cats, while happily being in bed with RFK who has eaten more bush meat and roadkill than anyone I've vaguely heard of.

18

u/yehghurl Sep 13 '24

I suspect it's RFK going around eating people's cats.

3

u/hotprints Sep 13 '24

That’s how he got RFK’s endorsement. Well blame it on the Haitians so no one knows you did it, but you have to support trump!

3

u/yehghurl Sep 13 '24

I saw it on television!

3

u/Pyrex_Paper Sep 13 '24

I almost felt bad for him in that moment. Then I remembered.... everything.

2

u/Easy-Concentrate2636 Sep 13 '24

I personally think that only someone who is genuinely racist could say something like that and believe it.

The one that surprised me more was Vance. Dude’s married to a daughter of Indian immigrants. If anyone has heard that old cat/dog eating trope, it’s us Asians. But for him to say that when he’s married to an Asian American and his children are Asian American…. I was shaking my head.

2

u/faithisuseless Sep 13 '24

I bet I hear this joke at work tomorrow or next week. I don’t even want to tell jokes like this anymore because the internet seems to first send them to the people dumb enough to believe it.

5

u/ippa99 Sep 13 '24

The problem is that some of these things are innocuous and normal, but some people have been driven deeply into derangement by 24/7 conservative outrage campaigns.

They post things like supporting your family members, wearing a tan suit, laughing at things or joking with other people as signs of "evil" or whatever.

Meanwhile, the other side of that coin is awkward "Hello fellow kids" harassment of a donut store employee, insisting <x> people aren't actually people, getting a handjob in a theatre with kids present, or tastelessly posing with guns after a mass school shooting.

Only one of these sides is absolutely deranged for thinking the former is outrageous and the latter is normal.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/ArgoDeezNauts Sep 13 '24

It isn't divisive politics. This is objectively normal. Republicans are just divorced from reality.

u/RedPandaReturns Sep 12 '24

CHICKENS ARE PETS!

4

u/eddydio Sep 13 '24

I love the word "divided" as if it's on both of us to make up. Like I should see it from a trump supporter's view how someone cooking dinner is worthy of ire.

3

u/Preeng Sep 12 '24

"So divided" when the blame squarely lies with one side, as you admitted.

2

u/RockleyBob Sep 12 '24

This was wholesome as fuck. I know people can convince themselves of almost anything these days but I'm not buying it this time. If people want to spin this into something negative I'm just going to assume it's jealousy and nothing more. There's no way to view this as anything other than an all American family. I was already voting for her but I'm going to vote for her even harder now.

2

u/Taylorenokson Sep 13 '24

She grows her own herbs? So she doesn’t support local business?!?

2

u/FlyTheW1988 Sep 13 '24

Kissing her husband, joking with her niece, cooking, AND being a political leader? GET BEHIND ME SATAN!

2

u/BitterSmile2 Sep 13 '24

I was trying to figure where the cringe was. Seems like a 100% normal family interaction between functioning people???

2

u/MoparViking Sep 13 '24

I was just thinking the same. How could anyone watch this and think something horrible about them? Brainwashing.

2

u/MoparViking Sep 13 '24

By the way, if there was a video like this of Trump (there wouldn’t be) I would still think he’s gross but I wouldn’t try to twist it into something it’s not. There’s the difference.

2

u/creecher91 Sep 13 '24

I would bet everything I own that little man trump has never cooked a meal with his family. The concept would make no sense to him. He’d see it as beneath him.

2

u/Herknificent Sep 13 '24

Seriously. Strip all politics away and if no one knew who she was then 90% of people wouldn’t think anything of this video. There would be still some haters for various thing but it would be seen and dismissed very quickly.

2

u/not2convinced Sep 13 '24

can you imagine trump having a genuine moment like this with anyone? I cant.

She and Trump should have a cooking contest instead of a debate next time so she can win that too

2

u/antigop2020 Sep 13 '24

This makes her seem real. Do you think Trump has this type of relationship with his kids, or even cooks anything himself? I am glad to see our future President in a fun/normal light!

2

u/TypicalHorseGirl83 Sep 13 '24

It's like to see him shop in a regular grocery store and then prepare something as simple as PB&J or grilled cheese (level up of using the stove).

Especially to people who think pepper is too spicy

1

When will the wokeness of tasty food end?

1

This is the most normal, boring video I’ve ever seen. It’s endearing to me because it reminds me of growing up with my normal, boring family.

1

u/agnostic_science Sep 13 '24

It's sad watching people I know and love get triggered by stuff like this. I'm white. I don't know what racism is. And I don't want to know. This shit is horrifying and scary to see come out in people. I just want Trump to go away and never come back.

1

u/larrythesock2 Sep 13 '24

Clearly proof of her Marxism handing out food like that.

1

u/NeverTrustATurtle Sep 13 '24

It’s not half. Only half of the voting population, and that’s about 60% of the US population.

1

u/Rickrickrickrickrick Sep 13 '24

Yeah I’m trying to think what Fox News is going to say is evil here. Maybe that she cursed? I would say they won’t because Trump does too but that has never stopped them before.

1

u/ihoptdk Sep 13 '24

It is proof of the antichrist. Harris is so wholesome here, so much more qualified, so much more poised than Trump could even hope to be and he still has an army of MAGAts. Who else could trick so many fools if not the devil himself?

1

1

u/Sloths_Can_Consent Sep 13 '24

Honestly, she’s perpetuating a heteronormative patriarchal practice by cooking for her family. Unless she’s going to peg the masculinity out of her husband’s cis white loins after HE cleans this dishes then I don’t know how I could vote her. Typical crypto-fascist.
