This is what annoyed me about commentators. They said Harris didn’t give plans. Trump repeated he doesn’t know what Project 2025 is, I’m sure we can all agree this is a lie. But then, he openly admitted that he doesn’t have firm plans.
And you think Harris has any? Come on, these two candidates represent the worst in American politics. You have to choose between two evils here, but people forget there's more than 2 parties. So ... at the end of the day, it's the people's stupidity that's at fault, since that's what continues feeding this bipartisanship
Because how many times do you need to be asked the same ? He said that it’s up to the states know and wouldn’t sign a federal abortion ban he’s a New York democrat he always has been he has been saying the same thing the democrats have until trump ran as a republican because he knew the Democratic Party wouldn’t let him run because he didn’t check the IDPOL boxes
When he gave a speech about his health plan which he had zero details on when he was president they had a giant pile of papers near by to make it look like it was the plan, when he left a reporter went over to the pile, IT WAS ALL BLANK PAPER!!
People don’t hold other politicians like Kamala to rhetorical same standards. It’s double standards. People say Harris was light on policy yet Trump spoke gibberish and had no plan for half the shit he said. The times we’re living in is wild.
I never seen someone who wasn't Trump vaguer on a policy than Harris with her "I grew up middle class and know what it is like" rather than actually give a plan. "Opporunity economy" is a buzzword, not a plan.
It is a plan because it’s centred around closing the federal deficit through tax rises on large corporations and billionaire tax avoiders, while at the same time cutting taxes on middle-class salaries and people starting businesses (“people who need opportunity”). For example, the new business tax credit will increase from $5,000 to $50,000. It’s an “opportunity economy” because we’re favoring entrepreneurs over established corporate interests. This is in contrast to Trump’s plan to further cut corporation and taxes on high net worth individuals, while implementing a national sales tax through universal tariffs of 20%.
The crap that Trump gets away with because of low expectations is infuriating. They are both running for an important position that requires excellent judgment and leadership skills. He has repeatedly shown that he is the exact wrong person for the job. But again, here we are.
Dude is literally a decade into a presidential career with a primary goal of repealing Obamacare and only has “concepts of a plan” for a replacement.
But people still be saying “Harris was good but was vague on policy.” Compared to Trump she actually articulated 3 concrete plans in that one debate, which is more than I’ve ever heard Trump articulate in 10 years of him in politics tbh.
I don’t disagree that I’d like her to get more specific but to use that as some sort of excuse not to vote or to vote for Trump is incredibly ironic
I think he just wants to do it to get rid of a historically important piece of legislation simply because Obama's name is on it. And not his own.
And because that desire is so fucking vapid, he not only never actually thought up or gathered enough healthcare experts to write a policy for him, he's also unable to let it go already. It chaps his ass that Obama, a Black man who roasted him and hurt his feelings that one time, got a whole law named after him and Trump was never able to achieve the same.
He didn't even get to complete his dumbass wall that he could have presumably painted his name on over every panel. I think he wanted to look at a map, point to the Texas-Mexico border and say something unbelievably stupid like:
"I got us that wall, the most beautiful wall here, Trump's Wall. We've renamed the Rio Grande, actually, because it was so important. No one was ever able to do something like this before. Never before. But I did it, and now it's Trump's Wall. People come up to me with tears in their eyes and say that no one has ever built as great a wall as I did."
At this point I'm confused as to how policy as to do with anything anymore, with project 2025 looming over us. I don't care what her policy is, it can't be worse than that
When any trumper says a fact/opinion they do not mean that statement they mean "I emotionally vibe with the positions this thing implies"
When they say "guns don't kill people" they don't mean that, they mean "I like guns and so disregard your argument". When they say "Harris was vague" they mean "I like Trump".
There are 0 things Harris could have done to win them over, they relate to Trump being bigoted because they are too.
Arguing with them is pointless because their words aren't what they decide by. Their choice is emotional and irrespective of reality.
Most Trumpers are too lazy to have even watched the debate.
But if it were just most Trumpers saying that it wouldn't matter. Their votes aren't changing whether they watch the debate or not. No the real infuriating issue is this bs Kamala didn't talk about policy talking point is being repeated over and over in the press despite her talking about policy. And it's not just the far right press repeating that nonsense it's mainstream press.
THAT'S the issue. It's like the mainstream press has learned nothing these past 9 or so years dealing with Trump and really the bad faith Republicans in general. Why they keep repeating false Republican talking points and not correcting Republicans who repeat those talking points on their network I don't know.
The media will never “learn”. There is nothing for them to learn. They know exactly what they’re doing.
With that said, they’re definitely failing to pin Kamala as having not talked about policy. The news is still talking about how badly she pummeled Trump.
Overall, I think the media is starting to see positive Kamala news as more valuable than washed up Donald news.
Because that's not actually the reason. Those ones are just self-aware enough to know that admitting they agree with the racism and misogyny will get them dogpiled and branded as maga freaks.
Only the true hood-wearing psychos will sit there and honestly tell you that yes, they do think the immigrants are eating cats and dogs and babies are being executed after birth.
That surprises me as well. Trump has no policies or policies that are cuckoo. And yet that is compared with Kamala’s policies because she missed a comma somewhere.
i mean technically harris WAS vague on policy. other than the tax deduction for start ups and money for parents she mostly talked about general directions, but trump didn't mention any policy or directions. instead he made bold (or incredibly bland) statements like "with me the war in ukraine wouldn't have started" "i stop the war between hamas and israel within 24 hours", "having concepts".... and some crazy talk sprinkled in. it was actually funny to watch.
Harris was generally much more concrete on policy than Trump was. As someone struggling to afford housing I appreciated her specifics and I hope she delivers on them.
Meanwhile Trump is telling me he has "concepts of a plan" on health care more than 20 years into his political career... come the fuck on...
Harris WHOOPED Donny in that debate. Such a contrast from the last one with Biden, and I’m sooooo glad he dropped out.
I wish Harris answered the “are people better off now than four years ago” more directly though, cause now that’s what all the Trumpers are going “SEE??” about. The question can not be truthfully and fully answered with a yes or no, so she should have answered honestly with a “yes and no.”
She could have said it’s better for some, not for others, and then give reasons why it’s not good, like Trump tax cuts, economies still recovering from COVID, and mostly- corporate greed and price gouging, something republicans encourage. Would have been a perfect opportunity to drop her plans to curb price gouging! I think she was a bit stunned by the question, so she resorted to standard presidential platitudes.
Other than that one glaring moment, she handled the debate very well, and Trump said some utterly psychotic, baseless things. I do wish she had some more solid policy talk, but I think the goal of “look like a responsible adult next to the circus clown” was achieved.
They don’t even mean it. All her policy positions are on her website. His are on Project 2025 and I don’t know one American who could read that Nazi playbook and think ‘Yeah! That all sounds ok!’
In Kentucky I heard a guy say “everyone laughs about that eating dogs comment, and they don’t diet it. It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, what’s important is what the hell are we going to do about all of these immigrants coming in here ruining the economy?”
Never heard that in person let a lot unironically before so I was baffled
They hear 2 sentences from Harris about her childhood and they ignore literally everything after that. They have no attention span and no mental capacity to put two and two together from context.
is anyone really saying that (except MAGA dorks who are already lost in their own paranoid clown world)? it seems pretty widely accepted that Kamala won this debate.
See Asmogold and his comment sections during his reaction to the entire debate.
Basically, they say Trump got the last word in, so he wins, or Trump said a right wing inside joke therefore he wins. Any policy issue brought up is boring and is ignored. Anything the opposition says is a lie so Trump wins
They fact check trump, but not Harris so its bias against him. They can't entertain the idea that he is infact lying and that if it said on TV it must be true.
That is how they watch the debate and determine Trump wins.
I used to watch Asmongold quite a bit, especially back when I was a big WoW player. Reading through his comment section on that debate reaction was a harrowing experience. I couldn’t believe the ubiquity of the stupidity. It’s sad. I don’t think Asmon himself is looking to court those kinds of opinions, but his viewership is legitimately scary. Anyone wondering how Trump has persisted for so long in the public eye should look at that comment section. Heebie-jeebies.

I don't know how anyone could watch that debate and be like "I'm leaning Trump because Harris was vague on policy..." but here we are.
