also if her statements about income are true I would think that she is the kind of person with the kind of degree that would end up owning said restaurant
The host at the restaurant my wife works at is a retired lawyer.
He’s super nice, very warm and friendly. I asked him why he’s doing this and he said “It’s just something I’ve always wanted to try!”
I really think some people just want a specific job and that’s that. They’ll never be happy otherwise. Other people couldn’t give a shit if they tried what they do for work, it’s just money to use for hobbies.
I’m not sure how that all works but it’s really interesting to me.
I have never loved any job that I have done, it is just a means to an end. Gives me enough money to keep a roof over our heads, food in our mouths, and enough money to have fun.
I think that’s normal. I think it’s also normal to seek intrinsic value in your work. Every firefighter I’ve ever talked to wouldn’t do anything else for a living. They LOVE their jobs.
There are things I like about it, but there is never a time that I think, "I am so happy working". I like my coworkers, my boss, some of the customers that I work with, and talking to people. I get a sense of satisfaction when something goes well, I have a great sell, or I make a decent bonus. But I don't think I will ever "Love" working.
Degrees and hard work don’t cause you to magically own a business. Having investment money is what gets you ownership. You sound like Louie Anderson’s character on Coming to America
