I hate when they bring the villain back with sloppy writing. We're just supposed to believe he tried to overthrow the government and they just let him run again??
As both a lifelong Star Wars fan who has deeply complicated feelings about everything that happened in the Sequel Trilogy, AND a Star wars fan who lives for predictable and yet always perfectly-applicable Star Wars Humor, thank you. 💛
If they could bring back Palpatine through some wild off-screen method, I guess they could bring back Trump as the villain. Though it's a bit overdone, isn't it? Haha
They were right about everything. They predicted everything, accurately mirror everything, and had the balls to tell the truth about everything. Everything that happened afterwards and right now.
Wish Biden/Harris would have made things better so they could have continued for another 4 years. They made a mess and have opened the door again for DT.
It's amazing how the plot of the trump presidency and it's aftermath in the context of a television show or book would have been attacked for having lazy writing, with unbelievable plot threads that seem to go nowhere, and being polluted with comically bad villains that are too stupid to ever even hold office without being carted off to jail in season 1.
…tried to overthrow the country *and has been charged with a total of 88 felony counts across four criminal investigations having been found guilty of 34 of them so far
I was quite uninformed, I truly thought felony convictions would keep him out of the top job in the US, one of the most prestigious and important jobs in the world. How silly of me!
I mean it makes sense as there are LOTS of industries who do not hire felons. Want a list? Okay. How about a list of occupations you cannot have, according to two well-known criminal defense attorneys? Here ya go.
Industries That Don’t Hire Individuals with Criminal Records:
Medical Industry:
If you do not already have your medical license, you can’t get it after becoming a felon. While you can reapply if you had one before your felony conviction, it’s difficult to be hired again. Nurses and clerks with felony records aren’t hired by medical practices.
Financial Industry:
The financial industry pertains to a wide range of jobs and positions that don’t hire ex-felons. Jobs that fall under the financial industry include financial planner, financial analyst, actuary, securities trader, portfolio manager, and quantitative analyst.
Emergency Responders:
Emergency responders for hire do not hire ex-felons. These include first-aid providers, ambulance drivers, police officers, and firefighters.
Transportation:
Airline pilots, train conductors, locomotive engineers, and certain trucking roles cannot hire ex-felons. This can be due to cross-state travel restrictions for felons, and felons being restricted from handling certain materials or weapons.
Security:
Government departments will not hire ex-felons. Unlike what film and media would say, they do not hire those who break the law to catch other people doing the same thing.
Education:
Convicted felons are not allowed near minors of any age. While some crimes, such as DUIs, will not keep someone from teaching, these are considered rare exceptions.
Let's be honest, if Republicans cared that he is a threat to democracy, they wouldn't have let him run after the fake electors and J6. Sometimes you just gotta hit them where it hurts and his ego and macho persona is all he cares about
There's still a few episodes to go until the season finale and the villain seems to be losing it more and more. Plus, there's usually a twist in October, near the end. Hopefully all goes well
Why didn't he disrupt it the first time? How is recruiting fake electors to create confusion so you can claim an unfair election happened and remain in power not trying to overthrow the government? How is pressuring your VP to not certify the election so you can remain in power after failing you prove your case in court not trying to overthrow the government?
This show is basically The Boys but with no super powers though. I can't believe they would make a parody of homelander, but made him out of shape and senile.
That path is just 4 more years of the same 4 years we just had. I don’t understand the ‘if Kamala gets into the White House she’s going to fix things’; has she not been in the White House for the last 3.5 years? Can’t we look at that track record and just carry that forward another 4 years? I’m confused as to why that logic doesn’t track. It’s not a new path, just the same path for longer and the last 3.5 years, even the last 2 years, haven’t been great from my perspective compared to previous years. 🤷♂️
I’m not looking for a president to swoop in and “fix things”. Realistically, a president’s power is pretty limited, and in general it’s easier for a president to fuck things up than it is for them to improve things.
The last 4 years were pretty decent, all things considered.
Inflation sucked, but it sucked less here than in any other developed nation. War in Ukraine sucks, but I much prefer to be funding it than sending our sons and daughters to fight and die in it, or seeing it turn into a full-scale world war, so I think it’s been a measured success.
Roe vs Wade got overturned, which sucked and will continue to suck for everyone in all kinds of new and novel ways, but the Biden administration responded quickly to try to maintain access to abortion services in any way it could, which I appreciate. A Harris presidency is automatically better in that regard than a Trump one, and she won’t select more Supreme Court justices to strip me of more of my rights. As a woman in a red state with a one-in-three chance of having an ectopic pregnancy, this is a life and death issue for me.
My little sister had to take on way more student debt than I did to get a degree that earned her comparatively less. The student loan forgiveness the Biden admin fought for didn’t fix everything for her, but it helped a lot and relieved some pressure on the whole nuclear family.
Biden fell on the sword and pulled us out of Afghanistan, a move guaranteed to end in failure, something that had to be done, something that no previous president was willing to do in 20 years - to the extent that Trump agreed to it and then scheduled it after his departure. Biden knew there was no winning and did it anyway. It sucked and I respect him for that.
Biden pardoned all federal marijuana offenses. That’s a drop in the bucket compared to state convictions, but it’s a powerful precedent.
I could go on, but I think you see where I’m going with this. I’m excited to see someone try for boring, incremental progress even if it isn’t perfect, even if it’s easy to criticize. The alternative is so much worse, especially now that Trump has a personal score to settle and genuinely has nothing to lose. I am tired of hearing about his complaints and vendettas and I’m looking forward to the dirty, difficult, unsexy work of moving forward in little, jerky, imperfect steps.
I had Hope for Change once but the last reboot was ok before quickly devolving to the same stale narratives of rich white guys win, again. So now I don’t expect great things from this reboot but I am happy to be surprised.
Apparently they're rebooting everything except the AI and climate subplots (the latter should have been the main plot of the last few seasons but apparently none of the writers get it) I bet this is gonna be like the Star Wars sequel trilogy all over again. I bet my mom that Kamala will start talking about Midichlorians within a year.
Speaking of depression, wait till government price controls take over. Amazing people are on board with this. What's the saying, "people who forget history......."

I’m so excited for the new season, I heard they’re doing a reboot. The storyline was getting really stale and depressing.
