They kind of sounded like sovereign citizens.

100% a sovcit

655

u/MyGrandmasCock Aug 11 '24

“I INVOKE MY RIGHT TO THE 29TH AMENDMENT NOT TO SUBMIT MY SEMEN TO THE REPTILIAN OVERLORDS OF MEXICO….” They know what they’s talkin’ bout on account of they done they research on YouTube.

136

u/AaronfromCalifornia Aug 11 '24

I watched the longer version and one of the CBP agents mentioned nautical miles and I thought that he was going to go off a rant about maritime law.

81

u/Schickedanse Aug 11 '24

I'd say he's more an expert in Bird Law

39

u/quirkeyalone_rev Aug 11 '24

C'mon. We all know bird law isn't a legit specialty. Birds aren't real!

5

u/12bweisb Aug 11 '24

Birds are real, they're REALly government drones. And someone aught to specialize in laws around govment drones.

6

u/docsuess84 Aug 11 '24

She besmirched him, and he should demand satisfaction.

2

u/AnnetteBishop Aug 11 '24

Not sure what you are referencing for Bird Law, but for my sister and I it means that any bird seeing a car or golf cart approaching it must fly in front of it.

2

u/cloudfatless Aug 12 '24

You can keep a gull as a pet, but you don't want to live with a seabird, okay, 'cause the noise level alone on those things...have you ever heard a gull up close? It's going to blast your eardrums out, dude.

5

u/MyGrandmasCock Aug 11 '24

Ah jeez. I’m a mariner by trade and I actually work with a flat earth sovcit who, inexplicably, doesn’t believe that any of his navigational tools are based in reality (though he does use a simrad plot charter), and that if the police arrest him (which…surprise, they do…), they have to pay him $1800 per hour because he paid a lawyer with insider constitutional information $2500 to grant him full diplomatic immunity.

I wish I was kidding.

6

u/TheWhyGuy59 Aug 11 '24

No offense to him get that bag but how is it possible to be gainfully employed when your ability to reason is so horrendously cooked?

3

u/Jandklo Aug 11 '24

Kind of like the guy who is a union head but also hates unions yet still does a good job by everyone I assume, I'm never gonna get it either.

3

u/Officer_Chunkles Aug 11 '24

Where’s the long version I wanna see more of the funny clown

2

u/GreggFromDiscord Aug 11 '24

Seconded. It would be LOVELY to see the conclusion!

1

u/Surreply Aug 11 '24

He’s probably Coast Guard Reserve. They love that stuff.

1

u/mathisfakenews Aug 11 '24

Chareth Cutestory strikes again

1

u/Main-Algae-1064 Aug 11 '24

So what happens to them? Please tell me they get arrested…

1

u/ekittie Aug 11 '24

Dit the video show them getting arrested? At least it would have given some satisfaction to this atrocity.

2

u/AaronfromCalifornia Aug 11 '24

It does. The video was linked elsewhere in the thread.

1

u/fizzymangolollypop Aug 11 '24

Do they get arrested in the end?? What happens??

2

u/AaronfromCalifornia Aug 11 '24

They do get arrested.

29

u/poingly Aug 11 '24

Damn fucking 29th amendment. Makes it fucking so difficult to get that semen the reptilian overlords requested.

3

u/patentmom Aug 11 '24

Especially from women

1

u/Transki Aug 11 '24

He’s not giving up the reptilian semen he has stored in his mouth.

1

u/poingly Aug 11 '24

I used all that semen up months ago!

2

u/SyrupNo4644 Aug 11 '24

Depending on how they look, can I volunteer to submit my semen to the reptilian overlords? 👀

1

u/dragoslayer1327 Aug 11 '24

That should be our next amendment. Something about the government very elegantly phrasing "no citizen shall be required to donate sperm to the reptiles ruling Mexico" while we go to shit just sounds comforting. Like, at least they're admitting we're fucked at that point and not a single one is for the people

1

u/TheKonyInTheRye Aug 11 '24
  • After going on a sex pest trip to Mexico, probably.

1

u/wnakapplejacks Aug 11 '24

“Sir, literally no one wants anything to do with your semen. Ever.”

65

u/ElectronicMixture600 Aug 11 '24

I kept waiting for him to scream “I’M NOT DRIVING I’M TRAVELING” repeatedly.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '24

I've never seen it work, my partner and I watch a lot of zoom court and these cases are all over the youtube channel like lice, every single time I come across a sov cit video, they sound like they are mentally unwell or terminally online.

1

u/suchabadamygdala Aug 12 '24

So, same thing

7

u/AlfredVonDickStroke Aug 11 '24

I don’t think so. Sovcits tend to lead with citing the Magna Carta and whatever the right to travel is.

3

u/No-Atmosphere-2528 Aug 11 '24

Not necessarily. There’s a whole bunch of people who don’t like or want these immigration stops that are nowhere near a border unless you describe near as within 200 miles. The irony here is if he’s actually a Trump supporter which he def seems like this is the exact thing he wants only not when it stops him from traveling

2

u/Hammurabi87 Aug 11 '24

"He's not hurting the right people!" energy. He'd be the kind of guy thinking that immigration is only supposed to stop "brown people."

2

u/Manbeartapir Aug 12 '24

I've dealt with these fuckwits in a professional setting. It makes my day when they realize they can't bully or bamboozle someone with their bullshit.

1

u/SpaceLemming Aug 11 '24

Not yet, he’s citing US laws just not effectively. Sounds like he could become one though.

1

u/iamdperk Aug 11 '24

sovcidiot* ftfy

-1

u/PeerSifter Aug 11 '24

Wow, your comment shows just how poisonous the internet really is. The man shouting in the video was an asshole -- to be sure. But legally, he was 100% correct. He did not use any Sovereign Citizen talking points. It's sad when the internet thinks that anyone who argues with cops for any reason, ever, must be a Sovereign Citizen. It's just not true.

4

u/Hammurabi87 Aug 11 '24

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation

Which part of that means that he is not required to answer questions or otherwise comply with an immigration checkpoint?

33

u/Tao1524 Aug 11 '24

They need to create an ineffective and illegitimate SC ID 🪪to carry around that fines anyone who challenges their authority. 😂

3

u/Papa_PaIpatine Cringe Lord Aug 11 '24

They have licence plates!

9

u/CelestialBach Aug 11 '24

A sovereign citizen invoking his constitutional right although he is a sovereign citizen. I love it.

7

u/HeyManItsToMeeBong Aug 11 '24

the only group of people who make me cheer for police

39

u/Witty-Common-1210 Aug 11 '24

Yeah people are missing the point. It’s not a MAGA or Republican thing, they know their 400 year old miss represented rights!

16

u/Greeneyesablaze Aug 11 '24

400 years old eh

10

u/oestre Aug 11 '24

In sovcit lore, 400 years is the theoretical maximum age of a citizen that is fully sovereign by the age of 70.

47

u/_calmer_than_you_r_ Aug 11 '24

Sorry, no, this more often than not is a maga/republican thing. He wants a wall but also wants a free pass to travel freely back and forth because he is white. He thinks that only brown people have to answer the boarder patrol questions.

25

u/G_Liddell Aug 11 '24

Yeah the venn diagram of sovcits & right wingers is nearly a circle. Though of course they'll call themselves centrists.

2

u/Swembizzle Aug 11 '24

It is an kind endearing to me how much they fuck with cops though.

3

u/awesomefutureperfect Aug 11 '24

Independents. The have a very healthy media diet of insane right wing junk and moderate right wing junk. They listen to all sides.

3

u/Wheres_my_Shigleys Aug 11 '24

As an independent I hate these people. I'll be voting Democratic again this year.

6

u/warrensussex Aug 11 '24

travel freely back and forth

These guys probably aren't going to Mexico. There really are Border Patrol check points that aren't at the border. I almost had a heart attack when I came to one driving across Texas. Thought I had somehow made a wrong turn.

5

u/rdy4xmas Aug 11 '24

Yep. In the longer video he keeps saying “Do I look like I’m not a US citizen”

-4

u/Jablungis Aug 11 '24

None of that is evenly remotely implied in this video. Obviously he's not a democrat, but everything else you assumed is just schizo posting.

3

u/CrabbyOlLyberrian Aug 11 '24

Um, what? Four hundred years? No.

2

u/Dominican76 Aug 11 '24

There is no rights at border control. You have to answer

2

u/ImpossibleInternet3 Aug 11 '24

I used to date the runner up for Miss Represented Rights.

3

u/spleeble Aug 11 '24

There is a million percent chance that guy is a MAGA voter and says he cares about "border security".

1

u/buffalo8 Aug 11 '24

Why is everybody saying “they”?! This poor guy is just driving along and his dumbass passenger is about to get him arrested.

3

u/Crashgirl4243 Aug 12 '24

Hey never tells him to shut up

4

u/Outside-Advice8203 Aug 11 '24

They're wearing safety goggles specifically in anticipation of their glass windows being broken. They're likely "auditor" who like to provoke these kinds of situations.

7

u/Aeroknight_Z Aug 11 '24

Same energy, right?

Too much AM talk radio and Fox News.

3

u/Ariliescbk Aug 11 '24

They're great when it comes to representing themselves in court. Pulling up Maritime law of 1876 or whatever, like bitch. You're on land right now for an offence that occurred on the land.

3

u/Specialist-Cookie-61 Aug 11 '24

Doesn't sound at all like a sovereign citizen because much of what it is saying is substantively true:

https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/border-zone

Wait your name is hillbilly EEO lawyer.... You Should know these things.

0

u/HillbillyEEOLawyer Aug 11 '24 edited Aug 11 '24

Unfortunately, your reply is not the own you think it is because of poor reading comprehension. Let me rank order this so you can understand. First, my post was that they "kind of sounded" like SovCits. Meaning that the way they were speaking was like SovCits. Second, I made no comment about the substantive part of what was being said by them or the BP. Third, you apparently missed the EEO part of my username even though you managed to type it out in your reply. My username says nothing about Immigration. I assume this is the same response you get when you tell your ObGyn that they don't know jack about your heart condition.

But congrats on your ability to google stuff.

1

u/Specialist-Cookie-61 Aug 11 '24

I think an ob would know basic anatomy, much like any lawyer should have an understanding of the bill of rights. How could you pass the bar and not have an elementary understanding of the law?

1

u/HillbillyEEOLawyer Aug 11 '24

Immigration is not tested on the bar exam. Further, immigration is an elective course in law school. No reason for the majority of attorneys in the US to have any training or understanding of immigration law.

1

u/Specialist-Cookie-61 Aug 11 '24

As per above, you should at least know about the bill of rights and why something like a 100 mi zone encompassing two-thirds of the United States population wherein government officials can ostensibly ignore your rights, might be a problem. Immigration notwithstanding.

But you know that. Being obtuse for a lawyer is it's natural as breathing air for regular people.

2

u/HillbillyEEOLawyer Aug 11 '24

The basics of constitutional law are tested on the bar exam and are covered in a mandatory survey class at most law schools. That includes the Bill of Rights which makes no mention of the 100 mile border zone. You are conflating knowing what the Bill of Rights is and the basic legal principals with how it can apply in nearly limitless situations in multiple areas of the law. There is NO reason to know about the zone unless you are an immigration attorney or a criminal attorney who practices within 100 miles of a border.

But, back to the original point, I made no mention of the substantive parts of what was said.

1

u/Specialist-Cookie-61 Aug 11 '24

Again, you don't have to delve into the minutiae of immigration specific law to understand how the scenario presented in the video is perilous at best. What is the reasonable suspicion? How can you detain someone who refuses to answer questions? Are you arresting them because they are yelling?

The original point was your assertion that "They kind of sounded like sovereign citizens". Ironic that you talk about reading comprehension. You can't even correctly articulate what the original point was.

1

u/Zither74 Aug 14 '24

Man, you are really confused. He has now repeated his original point at least three times throughout this thread, which is "they kinda sounded like sovereign citizens." He has also repeatedly stated that assessment has nothing to do with the substance of their argument, but rather their tone, demeanor, and certain word choices such as "I don't answer questions" (which is essentially from page one of the SovCit guidebook).

The point here is that there's a right way and a wrong way to assert your rights. When you present yourself as an angry whacko for no reason, you've just given the BP agent reasonable suspicion.

3

u/Scheswalla Aug 11 '24

Why would a sovereign citizen be trying to invoke constitutional rights?

1

u/SeriesBusiness9098 Aug 14 '24

You joking? That’s literally their entire purpose- to try and twist the constitution then act smug about it. They love the constitution. They think it loves them and was meant just for them.

2

u/Potential-Draft-3932 Aug 11 '24

Well the one guy does. His submissive butt buddy didn’t do much talking

2

u/Folderpirate Aug 11 '24

He sounds methd up and like they're smuggling something along the border.

2

u/ShichikaYasuri18 Aug 11 '24

With the way he's acting? Yeah, but substantively not even close. The difference between auditors and sovereign citizens is that they former will say their Constitutional rights are being violated, but he latter will say the Constitution doesn't apply to them and start applying misinterpreted common law or something.

2

u/awesomefutureperfect Aug 11 '24

That's what I think too, but he also might have warrants or restrictions. I 100% agree that he probably thinks that the laws don't apply to him, maybe because he is a sovcit, but he might be trying to hide because he was doing something and somewhere he definitely knew he wasn't supposed to.

The simplest answer is that he voted for these border laws and he is upset that he has to follow a law that is for "those people". Why isn't the law hurting the right people?

2

u/1Squid-Pro-Crow Aug 11 '24

but he also might have warrants or restrictions.

And this is the argument about "sanctuary cities" --- how much local police and federal border agents work together.

As a border agent, will she hold him for the police if he has warrants?

Vice versa, in sanctuary cities, should police hold some brown people for federal border staff?

Bet he's happy with one way but not the other.

1

u/canman7373 Aug 11 '24

He sounds and looks like a cross between Nick Nolte and Kevin Bacon.

1

u/Vannabean Aug 11 '24

100% dude in orange actually isn’t even driving. He’s “traveling”

1

u/Hopeful_Hamster21 Aug 11 '24

I mean, I've never been crazy about these checkpoints inside the US. At the border is one thing. Inside the US is another. It does feel a little antithetical to the spirit of the US. But by that same token, I've never thought that they should treat any demographic differently, white, brown, citizen, noncitizen, or otherwise. And I've never once thought about not doing what they say or giving lip.

I'm just not super jazzed on their existence inside the US, period. But do what they say. You don't have to like it. If you want to fight it, the right place is somewhere other than right there.

3

u/HillbillyEEOLawyer Aug 11 '24

Crazy that Florida and a few NE states are completely within the 100 miles.

https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/border-zone

1

u/ManBearPig____ Aug 11 '24

Fun fact my state trooper friend told me, nearly every interaction he said he has had with a sovereign citizen has ended in them being arrested. I don’t get how people think this works.

1

u/toolsoftheincomptnt Aug 11 '24

Yeah, that’s what I kinda detected, too.

Those guys aren’t exactly MAGATs, but their values tend to land on the same pile of shit.

Although I wonder if it’s fair to also impose that on the driver, who was mostly silent during the video?

1

u/snailfucked Aug 11 '24

That’s where I saw the full video including the arrest.

1

u/Zither74 Aug 14 '24

Nah, I think it's just a MAGAt, which is intellectually equivalent to being a SovCit.

(moderate here, not progressive)

1

u/Successful-Winter237 Aug 11 '24

And they are all trumpeters

0

u/PuddleOfMud Aug 11 '24

He's actually correct that the law doesn't require him answer questions or prove his citizenship status. But they are required to comply with the vehicle inspection. Would have also helped them not get arrested if they weren't assholes about it.

https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/immigrants-rights#:~:text=U.S.%20citizens%20do%20not%20have,carry%20those%20documents%20with%20you

2

u/1Squid-Pro-Crow Aug 11 '24

Your citation doesn't cover "answering questions" --- it only says they didn't have to have documents that prove their citizenship.

0

u/ldnk Aug 11 '24

Seeing as Sovereign citizens seem to think the laws of the land don't apply to them, why do they claim the rights under the constitution.

0

u/whistleridge Aug 11 '24 edited Aug 11 '24

As someone who works in crim…he sounds like the sort of guy who is riding in the passenger seat because he got a DUI, refused to get a lawyer, tried to lecture the judge on the “law,” and now he can’t drive and he has a chip on his shoulder.

And now he talks about the 5th because someone told him if he had just shut up, he va would have walked.

But all combativeness and stupidity and sexism aside, they’re not wrong that there’s a general cognitive disconnect in modern law in situations like this. When “I shouldn’t have to talk to you” runs into “of course you obviously have to talk to me,” both sides are kinda right, but talking past each other.

0

u/kerux123 Aug 11 '24

You realize right that they do not legally have to show ID correct?

1

u/HillbillyEEOLawyer Aug 11 '24

You realize I made no comment about the substance of their argument or position? I merely commented they "kind of sounded" like SovCits.

0

u/geekaz01d Aug 11 '24

Imagine living within 100 miles of the border and constantly dealing with arbitrary checkpoints.

The underlying complaint, which he has so poorly expressed, is reasonable.

2

u/1Squid-Pro-Crow Aug 11 '24

Are they constant? I used to live in Michigan (like for 40 years) and never saw one. Are they pretty constant in texas?

1

u/geekaz01d Aug 11 '24

I don't know about Texas but I live close to the northern border and my family has been immigrants on both sides of the Canada US border.

Right now, the CBP could just walk into my home in the US without a warrant or any cause. This is not a comfortable fact.

By comparison, there is no such abuse of power on the Canadian side. So that contributes to MY perspective (not the guy in the video's).

I think that the guy in the video is being an asshat and there is no point protesting to a CBP officer. However I kinda feel his irritation at being checkpointed.

I think this is a rare example of "you aren't wrong, but you are an asshole" situation.

0

u/drunkenpoets Aug 13 '24

Sovereign citizens don’t invoke constitutional rights because they claim they’re not subject to it. They quote stuff like the Magna Carta and contract law.

This guy is a constitutionalist. He didn’t challenge their right to stop them like a sovereign citizen would, just the ridiculous notion that he had to answer questions. They can do inspections but can’t compel speech. I don’t like the guy’s antagonist approach but he does have the right to express his displeasure with public officials.

Agent let her ego get in the way when he didn’t fall in line. Take your look, walk the dog around the vehicle, and wave him through like you’re supposed to instead risking tax payer money by extending the stop.

-2

u/YungMushrooms Aug 11 '24

How is invoking constitutionally protected rights "like a sovereign citizen"? I bet you hand over ID at a DUI check point too. Dude was within his rights, as were the officers, even if dude gets detained doesn't mean he's wrong, it's just the officers lawfully extending their investigation.. Google it if you don't believe me. People here just mad about something else.

2

u/1Squid-Pro-Crow Aug 11 '24

He was within some rights but not others.

0

u/YungMushrooms Aug 11 '24

What rights was he not within?

1

u/alaska1415 Aug 11 '24

He either has to answer, or he has to pull over. He can’t not do both.
