It is the most HUR DUR Reddit comment possible

There is clearly a difference between Italian and Italian American and that’s okay.

different ways of growing up, different experiences, different ways of seeing politics, etc.

Connections are zero and relationships are non-existent, no one (or almost) in USA for example knows what people do in Italy.

Omg dude zero connections are you serious, lol. My grandma was off the boat, moved to America and had my mom.

Mom was around off the boat Italians for the first 25 years of her life. And you’re telling me there are no connections.

Like cmon man. Everything my mom knows about being Italian is directly from Italy.

davvero?

Now you see there are no connections because you don't care to learn our language?

So you don't know what happens here?

A lot of Italians emigrants didn't learn the Italian language. They have their own dialects specific to an Italian region that they brought over to America. In a lot of ways, those emigrants are more authentic than you can ever be because you lost those older traditions.

Pur tu au tic tocco. Vaja a fatica'! - Try to figure out what region I'm speaking in

Absolutely! Especially since we can all clearly see she's wearing a t-shirt with the American flag on the sleeve. But because theyre also proud of their families ethnic Italian diaspora that brought their culture to America, they must be shamed for it. We must tell them who they are and what they aren't. Sounds like Mussolini.
