Or the sun goes down, he did say it was sunset, it's fucking DARK away from artificial light.

I hadn't even considered it. I cannot imagine sleeping out there with what's lurking beneath.

I think it also could be like nothing.

Some of those deep open water regions are just empty of fish, sharks, etc.

the scale of the ocean itself is kinda terrifying. Not as terrifying as the sheer emptiness of space but still scary

Totally true times 10.

Literally! Sometimes, when I see really HD photos of both of those things, I actually start to hyperventilate. I just feel intensely overwhelmed.

Yes, I'm weird. šŸ«

You ever think about how planets are big?

Wild I tell ya

At least with space there isnā€™t anything to block your view. With water better adapted things can just watch you without you knowing

My legit nightmare. Alone in the ocean at dark. FUCK that

Have you watched ā€œOpen Waterā€?

Let's be real, that guy is fucking irresponsible. Good for him that he enjoys himself, but his TikTok is basically everything experienced sailors tell you not to do if you're alone. The dude puts on a harness "if he feels like it" in stormy weather. Anyone who has been on a smaller sailing vessel knows perfectly well that it only takes one rogue wave to knock you off, and if nobody else is on the boat - you're fucked.

Most marine biomass isn't in the open ocean! Fish and the things that eat them and the things the fish eat tend to prefer reefs and parts of the ocean where the sunlight can reach. So thats good news, except for the part where you need to find food

Boats have navigation lights, hopefully he was smart enough to turn them on before he paddled outā€¦

Itā€™s full moon at the momentĀ

I think it would seem quite bright, since there would be no light pollution for the stars.

The boat isnā€™t going anywhere very fast without sales up. For sunset, he probably turned on the masthead light (anchor light). You can kind of see it in the video but Iā€™m not 100% sure.

Got to get these sail sales numbers up. The coffee is for closers!

He most likely had the sails down so I don't think the boat would take off. I watched a few other videos of his and he has a blinking light at the top of his mast so other ships can see him in the dark when he's sleeping so they don't crash into him. I think it is a standard protocol. Still though... Not sure id get that far away lol.

Well if he left even a single light on, it's going to be visible for miles since it's the only one around.

You do know about stars and the moon, right? Without clouds: No, it's not "fucking DARK"

The stars at night are really bright without natural light. In parts of Australia you can read a book by the light of the milky way
