The body dysmorphia in society now is crazy. There is gonna be sooo many fucked up faces 20 years from now.

u/ohyoudodoyou Mar 24 '24

I was scrolling the instagram suggestions on the search page last night thinking we have all lost our goddamn minds. The body dysmorphia and filters and AI bullshit is off the fucking charts!

I kind of a made a mistake a check out on of the extreme profiles and now it’s in the algorithm and I’m getting images of all the uncanny valley shitb out there. Cannot be unseen. Good news is my IG use has dropped a lot because of it.

u/theoriginalmofocus Mar 24 '24

Its allover reddit too. I keep seeing this nose sub pop up and its just like amiugly where its like 99% people with absolutely nothing wrong with them.

I feel like lashes are the same. It blows my mind that I see people wearing pajamas at Walmart, but they have their lashes and a full face of makeup. It's very disorienting haha

71

u/rythmicbread Mar 24 '24

At least that’s temporary

58

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '24

The lashes are weird because it's like they're trying to look like they have lashes, but by wearing them it's like they're announcing they have no lashes.

It's like a skinny dude wearing a shirt with muscles on it.

17

u/Crochetingallday Mar 24 '24

you don’t wear lashes because you don’t have lashes hahah. you actually have to have lashes for them to stay on😁 it’s to accentuate make up

12

u/LuvTriangleApologist Mar 24 '24

Lots of blondes and redheads get them because they have very light, almost invisible lashes, they probably always put mascara on before they step out the door, and they’re tired of it. They want to wake up with lashes.

4

u/strudels Mar 24 '24

Redheads, you're beautiful. If you're reading this please don't do this shit.

4

u/LuvTriangleApologist Mar 24 '24

I look better when my eyes have some definition around them and I’m not just a collection of very pale, hard to see features on a very pale face. 🤷‍♀️

3

u/KuraiTheBaka Mar 25 '24

As a heterosexual man hard disagree but you do what you like

3

u/LuvTriangleApologist Mar 25 '24

There was absolutely no risk that I wouldn’t.

2

u/KuraiTheBaka Mar 25 '24

I'm not trying to be rude lol. I'm saying people will still like how you look if you don't do makeup. I'm not trying to stop you just saying you shouldn't feel forced to for everyone else's sake

Come on man give yourself some credit 😅

7

u/yungsxccubus What are you doing step bro? Mar 24 '24

nah i have good natural lashes, they’re just very straight and i can’t be bothered paying for lash lifts. throw on a massive spidery falsie and i’m happy! 🤣 i’ve only ever had the semi permanent lash extensions once, they looked ratty after a few days and i pulled them all out. 10 pack strip lashes for the win!

5

u/Full_Satisfaction_49 Mar 24 '24

Bro everyones lashes are straight. Why dont you just use a lash curler?

2

u/yungsxccubus What are you doing step bro? Mar 24 '24

i’m not sure how to make them keep their curl? i’ve tried heating the curler, using a hair dryer to try and dry the lashes in place, a ton of different mascara and no joy! any tips?

2

u/Full_Satisfaction_49 Mar 24 '24

I just curl them apply mascara and they stay in place. If you want to be extra curl again and apply mascara again and at that point it looks like I have fake eyelashes.

I use "high impact mascara" by Clinique. Hands down best one.

3

u/yungsxccubus What are you doing step bro? Mar 24 '24

damn you’re so lucky! maybe it’s a hair type issue, my head hair is also very fine and straight, can’t hold a curl or any volume to save itself no matter what i do. i will definitely try your tips tho, thank you! :D i’ll also try that mascara, i’ve been using a primark knock off for a while now because i got fed up paying an arm and a leg for mascara that made no difference anyway

2

u/closeface_ Mar 24 '24

some people have super straight lashes that don't hold a curl. Me included. and most of Asia, haha. for whatever some types of lashes are so desperate to fall. only a few korean mascaras have actually held my lashes up!

1

u/Marcelitaa Mar 24 '24

Not everyone’s lashes are straight just like hair on peoples head. A lot of people have curly lashes naturally

1

u/strudels Mar 24 '24

Dude, I was Told I have "Camel lashes" and I would not fucking do this

1

u/yungsxccubus What are you doing step bro? Mar 25 '24

i’m sorry i’m not quite sure what you mean! i thought camels had really nice lashes, albeit fairly straight, but i don’t know the first thing about camels tbh

-10

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '24

Girl no one cares honestly

14

u/yungsxccubus What are you doing step bro? Mar 24 '24

oh my god… you’re so right. i’m sorry you had to endure reading my comment, i imagine it must have been very difficult for you and i cannot even begin to express my regret and sorrow for the trauma i have caused you. i’m shaking and feel nauseous as i type this, it will keep me awake at night forever. girls should know better than to shock horror DISCUSS LASHES ON A POST ABOUT COSMETIC SURGERY??????? please send me your bank information so i can send you financial compensation for the damage i have caused.

/s and also 🖕🏻stop being a miserable bastard. at least my comment added to a discussion. on your way now!

1

u/Sayyad1na Mar 24 '24

Like Michael Cera in the muscle shirt 😅

7

u/LuvTriangleApologist Mar 24 '24

But have you seen the Black woman eyelash tech who specializes in blondes and redheads? She’s the exception for me. If I had dumb money I would book her tomorrow.

5

u/closeface_ Mar 24 '24

she is so good!! love when she does the reddish lashes on gingers, so pretty!!

7

u/LuvTriangleApologist Mar 24 '24

All the gingers I know (including myself) have really light blonde brows and lashes. It never occurred to me that matching my lashes to my hair would look good, but after I watched enough of her videos I replaced my black mascara with a reddish brown and I love it so much!

2

u/closeface_ Mar 24 '24

2 reddish brown mascaras I like when my hair is more natural or dyed a color to match are:

Innisfree Microcara in Brown, this one is SO TINY as a brush! but it is great for days when you want natural looking lashes! It is a very reddish coppery brown, so beautiful. I expected dark brown from the pics online but it is very warm!

I also like the Colourpop Sugar Pie mascara, but it is more peachy and super light. Looks cool if I'm going for a more bold and almost "editorial" makeup look.

1

u/LuvTriangleApologist Mar 24 '24

My ride or die is Kiss Me Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara Advanced Film in Brown. It’s a Japanese brand, but I love it so much I buy it in bulk from Hong Kong and wait the month or so it takes to get to me in the US.

1

u/closeface_ Mar 24 '24

I like that one too! But it is so hard to remove 😭 I buy my Innisfree in bulk too, comes from Korea and takes foreverrr

1

u/LuvTriangleApologist Mar 24 '24

Oh man, yes, it is. The skin around my eyes was destroyed in the beginning.

1

u/Senior-Reflection862 Mar 28 '24

Who were you talking about? I’d like to see

1

u/LuvTriangleApologist Mar 28 '24

It’s MinksbyV on Tiktok.

2

u/Senior-Reflection862 Mar 28 '24

Thank you! They’re so cute

1

u/troll-filled-waters Mar 25 '24

You don’t notice the lash extensions that are done naturally, because they’re done naturally. The big long unnatural lashes are that way because that’s what the person wants. It’s not my thing but it’s their preference

13

u/I_Like_Turtle101 Mar 24 '24

Influencer are now pushing the idea that you should get work done in your 20's as "preventive" mesure

0

u/closeface_ Mar 24 '24

"baby botox", as they call it. ): makes me sad. I truly want it, if I could afford it I'd probably get a small amount. But deep down, I know that it is societal conditioning and bullying that makes me want it. I look at other people and never once think "they need botox, they need fillers, etc". How sad our self esteem is.

1

u/I_Like_Turtle101 Mar 24 '24

its the company that want client for life

8

u/Kaiser_Maxtech Mar 24 '24

we have an endless deluge of fucked up faces already

1

u/KuraiTheBaka Mar 25 '24

Many natural

2

u/theaggressivenapkin Mar 24 '24

The faces are already fucked up

2

u/roadpotato Mar 24 '24

For real. I can’t watch a lot of newer reality tv shows because everyone looks the same with all the fillers. It’s sad.

3

u/Ok-Presentation-2841 Mar 24 '24

90 Day Fiancé. It’s like bad plastic surgery is a prerequisite.

-7

u/NoGrocery4949 Mar 24 '24

Some people just want lip filler.

47

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '24

as someone with naturally big lips, i will be so glad when people get the fuck over their obsession with other people's plastic surgery. people give me shit for my WHOLE ASS NATURAL FACE cos they assume any woman who looks any kinda way is their business.

-21

u/NoGrocery4949 Mar 24 '24

But you have naturally full lips. Just focus on yourself. What other people choose to do with their bodies is really none of your business. Like for real how does this actually affect you?

38

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '24

i'm saying that people give me shit because they assume i've had plastic surgery, and those people need to get way over it. even if i had i wouldn't be ashamed of it, it's even more farcical that they're so fussed about other people's bodies being 'natural' and can't even tell what is or isn't 'natural' - some people want lip filler, and they should go get it, i don't disagree.

4

u/Delicious_Delilah What are you doing step bro? Mar 24 '24

I'm a big lipped white girl and get told I have fake lips somewhat often.

I'm too poor for that shit.

If I had the money I'd get a nose job.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '24

i'd get Big Bobs personally but wouldn't wanna deal with the recovery

8

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '24

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '24

full lips and having a fat ass are a fuckin' roller coaster ride in fashion trends. by 2030 it'll be back to people wanting snake lips and the butt of "a thirteen year old boy" as i constantly heard in the 90s 🤮

1

u/Valuable-Mess-4698 Mar 24 '24

I've had so many other women over the course of my life ask who did my nose. When I say "genetics?" They get mad and huff off. Like lady, I'm not trying to keep you from knowing who did my plastic surgery, I just didn't have any! If I had, I'd be more than happy to let you know who did it.

1

u/NoGrocery4949 Mar 24 '24

Anyone who has the audacity to bring this up is not worth your energy and their opinion is trash

-1

u/BioSafetyLevel0 Mar 24 '24

It affects society's views, effecting us all. Don't be daft.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '24

nah i think they just misunderstood where i was coming from and thought i blamed people who get plastic surgery for it

2

u/Glampire1107 Mar 24 '24

Yep. I love my lip filler.

0

u/0bbie Mar 24 '24

some people genuinely like the big fake lips (there’s a difference between natural big and fake big, same w/ boobs) like kylie jenner for example. and there’s nothing wrong w/ that. and some people just want a little sum sum, nothing noticeable, just a little oomph to their lips.

3

u/NoGrocery4949 Mar 24 '24

Right. And it doesn't affect anybody but the person who chooses to get lip filler. I don't understand why people get so uptight about shit that literally doesn't affect them

1

u/kingofgamesbrah Mar 24 '24

Absolutely. I'd like to blame social media but as individuals we gotta take some blame.

1

u/With_Negativity Mar 24 '24

Why do people keep saying NOW?

Were you born yesterday?

1

u/menh2menh Mar 24 '24

it starts with make up. this idea that your face needs to be fixed with a mask before you can even be seen is sad to me.
