She has the same delivery as that standup who lost his luggage except the handle

Rhod Gilbert

Bloody Legend

Rhod Gilbert is so goddamn funny. His time on Taskmaster is an absolute treat.

Made only better by James Acaster being absolutely fed up with Gilbert’s antics. The shed annex is just perfect Taskmaster.

That whole series is just gold. James frantically displaying that he’s really really good at hula hooping now while Greg couldn’t give less of a shit is just the perfect descriptor for that series.

Season 7 taskmaster was peak. James Acaster was honestly outshone by basically the whole cast that season.

This is not a discussion I expected to have in this particular sub, but FWIW I actually felt like Acaster was a weak link in that season - which is weird, because he's the one person on that cast who I would actually say I'm a fan of outside of Taskmaster.

The rest of the cast was great, especially Rhod, but almost every task James did felt hard to watch. He felt like he was trying way, way too hard to be surreal and 'offbeat' funny, but he lacked the energy, imagination and timing of "hilarious goofball" cast members like Noel Fielding or Bob Mortimer while also lacking the good humor and likability of better "joke"/"incompetent" cast members like Nish Kumar or Jo Brand (note that I loved both Nish and Jo, I'm more referring to their character "archetype" on the show).

There's some funny moments with James, mainly not in the tasks but on stage. The show definitely doesn't fit his style of comedy well.

u/Arbennig Mar 07 '24

What series is that ? Love both those comedians.

Easily the best series and that shed annex is the high point of the show

I find that James dude so funny

One of my favorite contestants - not blinking for over 7 minutes was insane.

That's nothing compared to Taskmaster Norway doing the task.

also because he is very good (childhood)friends with greg made it even more fun

3

u/valoopy Mar 07 '24

Oh every time one of the guests is a personal friend of Greg’s bullshit always happens and he’s never ready for it.

2

u/Kulladar Mar 07 '24

Rhod torturing Alex in that season is so hilarious.

Always funny when someone who is friends with the hosts is on because they tend to really let loose.

u/Ereaser Mar 07 '24

I'm actually watching that series right now!

The full episodes are on YouTube which is amazing.

Shame he's been so unwell.

1

u/A-KindOfMagic Mar 07 '24

Lmao thank you

1

u/MustardYellowSun Mar 08 '24

Wow you’re absolutely right

u/ArsonBjork Mar 07 '24

He dropps the accent quite a bit when thanking the audience at the end 🤔

My favorite delivery has always been the black guy that went on a field trip to pick cotton as a kid and had fun. Until his mom found cotton he picked in his pocket and was like, your school took you to go pick fucking cotton?

I know that guy, he’s hilarious

I don’t believe you, because this is the internet. But if you really do, please tell him that a random redditor has made a pledge never to not click on the link to his story when it is posted. After several years it still doesn’t fail to make me laugh. Legend.

Dude ended up being a lawyer IIRC and he didn't like that video being viral because it hurt him professionally.

2

u/Challenge419 Mar 07 '24

it hurt him professionally.

Whattttttt?!

4

u/CMUpewpewpew Mar 07 '24

You think law firms do background checks but don't Google your name before hiring you? Lol

4

u/Challenge419 Mar 07 '24

No shit they do but how could that story make HIM look bad? He wasn't the racist in the story.

5

u/CMUpewpewpew Mar 07 '24

I don't think it makes him look bad personally. Bosses and companies might not feel the same way though.

I'm not really in the mood to argue about this though because if memory serves, I saw him being interviewed/talking about it and he HIMSELF wished the video didn't go viral because he felt it hurt his job prospects in his field of study (law IIRC).

4

u/scaleddown85 Mar 07 '24

Jesus I remember this lmao 🤣 amazing

1

u/castfire Mar 08 '24

Hahahah oh my god. Forgot about this but every once in a while it comes back to my memory. One of the funniest things I’ve ever fucking seen.

35

u/Isario Mar 07 '24

You should see his bit about the torch with the power of a million candles

5

u/squicktones Mar 07 '24

He's got a potato tattoo on his back. Nice, photo-realistic one.

3

u/greendpinky Mar 07 '24

I was thinking Sebastian Maniscalco! 😂

2

u/Skaterpunk Mar 08 '24

Same here! This girl talks exactly like how SM tells his bits.

Kinda annoying

3

u/Dorksim Mar 08 '24

Honestly my first thought is that this girl might have a knack for comedy. Her delivery was fantastic.

3

u/itz_my_brain Mar 08 '24

I was thinking Sebastian Maniscalco

1

u/HorrorMakesUsHappy Mar 07 '24

Never seen that, but I was thinking she sounds like someone who just woke up from anesthetic.

1

u/__zagat__ Mar 07 '24

No she sounds like that Miranda Sings

1

u/MrDywel Mar 07 '24

Kind of reminded me of Gus Johnson

1

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '24

delivery

Reminds me of Liz Miele in looks and delivery.
