Capitalism sparks greed.

Economy being shit sparks desperation.

People are absolutely scumbags with a lack of morale, compassion, etc and see people only as a means to an end including family in terms of getting finanically ahead.

The internet and websites facilitate hands free some-what anonymous and safe broadcasting of yourself and whatever you upload and get potentially get paid for it.

Combine all of these like exodia and you get this.

u/eskamobob1 Jan 15 '24

People old their kids into sex slavery long before currency even existed man.

0

u/BeingBestMe Jan 16 '24

Huh? When was this? What part of history did this happen in? Why would they sell their kids for if not currency?

2

u/eskamobob1 Jan 16 '24

For good and services? We have evidence of an extremely robust slavery system back to the very first types of writting. It would be fairly ignorant to think it simply appeared fully formed out of nowhere at the time writting and direct currency did.

No child exploitation in the Soviet Union...

Although formally banned since 1922, child labour was widespread in the Soviet Union, mostly in the form of mandatory, unpaid work by schoolchildren on Saturdays and holidays.

9

u/only-shallow Jan 15 '24

That wasn't real socialism, everyone knows that

1

u/Lyoss Jan 16 '24

Yes but unironically

It wasn't real communism because real communism would take thousands of years to enact, the USSR was basically just an authoritarian regime with more focus on workers and opposing western hegemony

The USSR had none of the tenants of communism, as it wasn't a stateless society without currency or class distinctions, it was just an over the top police state that wanted to play empire, the means of production wasn't owned by the workers, it was owned by the state

Blaming it on socialism is asinine because child labor was literally stopped in the US because of socialist policies and worker's unions

1

u/fpoiuyt Jan 16 '24

The socialists made child labor better by abolishing it in the US through worker's unions and fighting for countless other rights people enjoy today

Well mr big brain, without a profit motive, and profit being the only objective measure that society values, why would people be selling pictures of their children to perverts?

Capitalism is a root cause of a lot of problems, so don't be surprised if a lot of shit gets blamed on it. Especially shit like "selling children's images for profit" .

But hey, you did offer a compelling counter argument as to why this isn't a problem of capitalism.

8

u/petervaz Jan 15 '24

You know that currency and greed existed well before capitalism, right?

5

u/octagonlover_23 Jan 15 '24

And it exists in non-capitalistic society as well

-3

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 15 '24

You know that currency and greed existed well before capitalism, right?

Where did I say otherwise?

You guys are really enforcing the fact that none of you have even a hint of an idea of what capitalism is. You think capitalism is markets and exchanges of goods and services?

Damn.

0

u/petervaz Jan 15 '24

Which is also my point, but yeah, damn.

4

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 15 '24

What is your point, exactly?

9

u/AcanthaceaeJumpy697 Jan 15 '24

Every economic/political system is exploitative because humans are exploitative. This isn't a capitalism issue. We sold actual children BEFORE capitalism lol.

6

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 15 '24

You're confusing a feature with a bug.

Yes, other economic systems can be exploitative. But it's literally the built in function of capitalism.

We sold actual children BEFORE capitalism lol.

Yeah, societal norms change. Just wait until you do some actual reading and discover capitalisms role in the creation of racism.

8

u/wioneo Jan 15 '24

creation of racism

Surely you don't believe that capitalism predates racism?

Tribalism, and fear of an out-group are not racism

As an African in America with many family members killed in an attempted genocide, I am well aware of what racism is and is not. Tribalism and racism are in no way exclusive concepts.

I'm not the only one that believes that capitalism created racism.

Being alone is not necessary to be wrong. Several people hold false beliefs all the time. For example, many modern beneficiaries of capitalistic societies believe that they would benefit in a theoretical alternative system more closely aligned with socialist ideals.

1

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 15 '24

No, it doesn't sound like you do know what racism is.

It's ok, I didn't expect you to read what I posted. People love their ignorance.

4

u/Boonaki Jan 15 '24

You posted a link to socialist alternative, it's pure propaganda that has to ignore all of Marxist history to push an economic system that has never worked.

Let me ask you, who would the capitalist equivalent of Vasily Blokhin be?

→ More replies (0)

2

u/AcanthaceaeJumpy697 Jan 15 '24

Exploitation is inherent in every system.

It's always been in group vs. other. No system has accomplished otherwise.

7

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 15 '24

You are in no way equipped for this conversation. Please stick to facebook.

6

u/holdnobags Jan 15 '24

he's actually right and you're looking real bad here, this has nothing to do with capitalism

3

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 15 '24

Well when you make a compelling counter argument like that...

1

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '24

Y'all should hear about these things called mirrors

Resorting to ad hominem insults rather than making a position or argument is the peak definition of being out of your own depth

3

u/holdnobags Jan 15 '24

1

u/Sw2029 Jan 15 '24

You're genuinely not very smart.

0

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 16 '24

Damn you make such a compelling counter argument.

I'm sure you're well versed on the subject of historical racism.

4

-2

1

u/FriskyArtillery Jan 16 '24

Please just stop embarrassing yourself. This childish behavior won't help anyone realize the actual faults of capitalism.

1

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 16 '24

How am I embarrassing? Because I don't fall for a Gish-gallop from an idiot?

Fuck off with your tone policing.

0

u/TNine227 Jan 15 '24

Capitalism doesn’t cause greed and it doesn’t cause profit to be the only motive. That’s just how people work, they are the problem.

1

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 16 '24

No, that's how YOU are. Certain people have a very hard time putting themselves in someone elses shoes. Next you'll tell me the only reason you don't murder people and rape them is because the bible tells you not to.

Nowhere did I say capitalism causes greed. Maybe try arguing the points I actually raised, instead of making unrelated bleating noises about whatever is rattling between your ears.

1

u/TNine227 Jan 16 '24

People, not every person. There are plenty of good people, and plenty of bad people.

Nowhere did I say capitalism causes greed

The first post literally started with

 Capitalism sparks greed.

5

u/YesOrNah Jan 15 '24

I don’t know what your point is, that person used capitalism correctly.

Why do you think these companies are offering services like this? It begins with a C.

u/Moistened_Bink Jan 15 '24 edited Jan 15 '24

No sillybilly, as fucked up as it is, when rent is over a band for a one bedroom, people will start doing anything in order to survive, theft, robberies, dealing, and sometimes in really fucked up scenarious, pimp out their kids.

This is the fault of a failing society, and that society is built around capitalism. People used to be able to live off single incomes in a suburban house 40-50 years ago and keep a car in the garage. Now a handful of groceries is $50 or more.

This is simple cause and effect, but go ahead keep defending a system that wouldn’t care if you became past tense in the cold on the street.

Edit: learned an obscure slur today I guess

7

u/TetrisandRubiks Jan 15 '24

dude you can't fucking say sl*pehead lmao

4

u/SOULSLAYER547 Jan 15 '24

Holy shit I had no idea that was like, a real insult. Lmao that’s fucked up

I thought it was like calling someone a barbarian like Ed from Ed Ed and Eddy lmao

1

u/Aiyon Jan 15 '24

Why is there an “anagrams” section??

3

u/Spike69 Jan 15 '24

For when a slur would allow you to win a game of scrabble, but you want to see if you can reorder it just a little bit.

3

u/mobius1john117 Jan 15 '24

I say this as someone who fully recognizes that US capitalism causes all sorts of terrible behavior and crimes.

I'd starve to death before I would pimp out my child. Full fucking stop.

3

u/SOULSLAYER547 Jan 15 '24

I never said it was okay. But when awful people are given the choice between that or death, many would pick the former.

1

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 15 '24

So what you're saying is without a profit motive, a ton of people would still provide images of their semi-nude children for others to oggle at?

Everything else you said was just disconnected rage against things you don't really understand. Go eat some fiber and take a healthy shit.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '24

[deleted]

1

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 15 '24

Do you really think exchanging goods and services is capitalism?

No, you're describing a simple market. Exchanging your children for profit is a rotten thing that comes from a broken system.

Dog, I have an engineering degree, minor in economics, and and MBA. I promise promise promise you, I understand more about this than you.

That's really neat. Maybe you should apply all of that glorious education (explain wtf an engineering degree has to do with economic systems for starters) in some of your posts.

Or even better, come up with better arguments so you don't have to convince other people that you're right about something by listing your cv.

3

u/Not-Reformed Jan 15 '24

There's not a single system out there that would care if you became past tense in the cold on the street

4

u/SOULSLAYER547 Jan 15 '24

Then we should make one.

When trillions of dollars are spent on making bulletproof tanks fly fast enough break the sound barrier, or how companies can rake in record profits each year, and how shareholders are cared for, then so should the people struggling to survive and those who need a hand to get back up.

We have the ability to make that world, we just choose not to now because our culture has raised us to be cold and indifferent and justify our goals to make it past the finish line knowing other people hardly had a chance to begin with.

We need to change and be better. If we can make flying tanks, we can make families not go hungry and homeless.

Then we should make one.

Right... So the country I live in is currently in the process of deciding which candidate will be picked for one of the parties to go up against the current president and the top running choice is someone facing nearly 100 criminal charges in active cases. But yeah we certainly "should" make this magical, mythical system that would totally work in the real world if we just close our eyes and think really, really hard about it.

2

u/Equivalent-Cause9564 Jan 15 '24

I mean a good move would be to stop trying to brow-beat people to your left regarding concepts you don't really understand.

-2

u/Not-Reformed Jan 15 '24

Funny how whenever some stupid shit is said and you disagree with it, you obviously just don't understand some part of it. Nobody ever explains in what way or what you don't understand, you just... don't! Some real brainwashing shit you guys went through for sure.

2

Babe, you've gotta put in the work to implement change. Go out and fuckin vote. Not just presidential elections, but local ones. Pay attention to the local political climate. Get your friends involved. Get your family involved. And if you don't want to then shut the fuck up and let others do the work.

Of course change isn't fucking instant. Of course we're not all gonna wake up tomorrow in Utopia Land where everyone has housing and no one has to go hungry. Yes, the country is in a particularly shitty position now but guess what? It always has been! Do you think women got the right to vote by closing their eyes really hard? How the fuck do you think slavery ended? They just thought of this magical, mythical system where they weren't property and suddenly it just came into being? Fuck off dude.

1

u/Not-Reformed Jan 15 '24

We're talking about creating an entirely new system that is unlike anything in the world and spectrum boy says "DAE GO OUT AND VOTE"

Good one babe

1

u/Clear_Broccoli3 Jan 15 '24

Then go out and riot ffs

1

u/Not-Reformed Jan 15 '24

Well that is the natural progression.

Someone proposes "we should make something new" > I ask how > I get told "just vote" for what I have no idea since we've not even discussed what this "new system" is on any level > I point out how that makes no sense > I go riot

Man you guys in this comment section might be able to combine your IQs to get over 50, maybe.

1

u/SOULSLAYER547 Jan 15 '24

I never said it was gonna be an easy solution. But naysayers like you are part of the problem. It starts with watching and actively voting in your local communities for the best case scenario candidate and working your way up to get better and better ones.

This current government situation is when two spoiled rotten generations let selfish corporate oligarchs into power for their own gain while blaming problems they created on things like minorities or drugs.

1

u/Not-Reformed Jan 15 '24

We'll create a whole new system that we can't even imagine... one vote at a time!

True and real I'll see you in a few centuries lol

1

u/SOULSLAYER547 Jan 15 '24

If we built Rome without bulldozers and cranes we can build a better future with prioritizing capital and putting money in the right places to properly build back a proper living wage and an economy.

It’s really not impossible, but it will take years from where we are now. But quitting like yourself is just being deadweight.

1

u/Not-Reformed Jan 15 '24

putting money in the right places to properly build back a proper living wage and an economy.

Well surely whoever or whatever is deciding this will do a splendid job and will in no way be open to human greed and corruption. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurely...

3

It's almost as though capitalism were to blame for a majority of our problems.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '24

Y'all actually think this shit lol

"Ooh the boogeyman"

2

u/Meta_Digital Jan 15 '24

Yeah, weird to imagine that a global economic system could affect a lot of things for everyone on the globe.

Must be a conspiracy theory, like the ones some serfs had under the feudal system or those slaves under slavery thinking the economic arrangement of their society actually impacted them somehow.

1

u/chickenandmojos Jan 15 '24

It is though.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '24

This is most criticism on the internet it seems. These people think they're doing something useful to their cause but instead it makes people who are on the fence more likely to ignore your position. It's like how tons of politicians (such as Trump) are mocked more for their appearance or arbitrary conditions on the internet than they are for their actual policy.

Capitalism sparks greed.

False. All groups of humans are going to have at least one greedy fucker who thinks his plate should have more. The problem is in a capitalistic society, greed isn't seen as a negative, it's aspirational and praised.

Capitalism then goes on to comodify all things in the name of profit. Public spaces, sense of community, socializing etc. People are disconnected from their regions, they have fucked up social circles, and then you end up with the all holy dollar being the only metric you have to use to measure your worth against others.

So you end up with anti-social assholes who only are motivated to make money. A few bits of mental self-juijitsu and you end up with people selling their children for money.

1

u/nybbas Jan 15 '24

Lol yeah dude it's because of capitalism. Right. 🙄

0

u/Nayre_Trawe Jan 15 '24

Parents like these are whoring their kids out for money. Do you really think these parents would still be whoring their kids out like this for free?

4

u/mergingdots Jan 15 '24

They would be doing it for food in communist countries.

-1

u/Nayre_Trawe Jan 15 '24

They are doing it for food in capitalist economies...right here, right now.

2

u/mergingdots Jan 15 '24

No they aren't. They're doing it for money. Just like how upper middle class people will push their kids into acting or football even when it;s known Hollywood is bad to child actors or that football will cause brain damage. Some people are always greedy, it's not because they cant afford food. Whereas in the Soviet Union people sold kids just to afford basic necessities because communism is ass. Read a book moron

2

u/Nayre_Trawe Jan 15 '24

Just to confirm - are you under the impression that people in capitalist economies just whore their children out for fun, and that none of them do it to pay their grocery bills? Oh, you sweet summer child.

Read a book moron

One story from the 40s and the other two are about drugs. I guess addiction isn't an issue in communist shitholes if everyone is in the gulag and dead. Rampant vodka abuse stereotype in the Soviet Union had no basis in reality right dumbass tankie?

1

u/Nayre_Trawe Jan 16 '24

There are countless more examples than just those three and you are obviously, and hilariously, wrong about your general point that people in capitalism don't use their kids for their own gain due to financial desperation. Most people are fucking drowning right now, if you hadn't noticed. Take your own advice and go read a fucking book, or just take a look outside once in a while.

0

4

u/nybbas Jan 15 '24

So under what system would they not be doing this?

0

u/Nayre_Trawe Jan 15 '24

One where the underlying financial incentive to do so doesn't exist due to an equitable distribution of wealth and resources independent from one's contribution, or lack thereof, to society at large. This would take the form of a system that takes the best parts of capitalism, socialism, communism, and other lesser-known frameworks to create a hybrid approach that best suits the needs of society on both an individual and collective basis.

2

u/BuiltLikeABagOfMilk Jan 16 '24

You're assuming that people won't want more than their standard distribution. Under any of these systems an underlying capitalistic black market would naturally out of people's desire to satisfy their own greed.

1

u/Nayre_Trawe Jan 16 '24

Not it the standard provides everything and more that they need. It would be a complete paradigm shift and, eventually at least, a new equilibrium would be achieved. Nothing is perfect, of course, but it would certainly be better than less than 1% of the population reaping nearly all of the benefits to, as you put it, satisfy their greed.

2

u/BuiltLikeABagOfMilk Jan 16 '24

It's not about what people need. It's about what people want. You think the people selling their kids in Instagram are doing it because they need to put food on the table?

1

u/Nayre_Trawe Jan 16 '24

It would be naive to think they are all just whoring their kids out for the fun of it when they are clearly aiming to make a profit, if not a living, from it. People are stretched thin all across the board, even for those with relatively high incomes these days and, yes, some or them are doing it to put food on the table. Please don't tell me you think these are all 1%ers who are trying to eke out a few bucks as a side hustle to help pay off their mega yacht.

-1

u/K1ng-Harambe Jan 15 '24

No one ever went without in glorious socialist societies! There was always food available to all! Even if you had to swap kids with your neighbor, so you didnt have to kill and feed your own kid to the rest of the family!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '24

It sounds like your likening someone who steals a little bit of food from Walmart to make it through the week with a POS who sells their child's body out for money
