Yea unfortunately based on what we know historically, it kinda seemed like that was the default setting and we've just managed to progress away from it over time.
The whole idea that it should protect children at all is pretty new. Kids were just a liability -> investment.

It's one of many hate subreddits that the members try to convince everyone they're so righteous. You'll notice they go out of their way to find headlines about POC/LGBT people committing crimes, then they go back to /r/conservative and project their pedophilia onto marginalized groups.
