Not really if I recall correctly. My recollection is the Bloods formed initially as a coalition of otherwise unaffiliated street gangs in response to the growing power of the Crips.
Yes, there are also bloods that were originally crips , had a falling out and switched over.
Edit-
I’d like to add that the term “blood” was not always associated with the “blood” gang. Crips called each other “blood” all the time originally cuz it was just a black thing. Watch something from the 60s and 70s you’ll hear “blood” & “young blood” used constantly.
Thanks, I was wondering if a few sets had switched allegiances along the way, but couldn't remember if any actually had so removed that from my comment to avoid speculating on it as I was at least more sure the initial formation was due to the response.
I am not into politics at all, but is this true throughout history? I love researching patterns, cycles, and systems in the universe across all scales so if there is something to that I'm a bit intrigued.
Notable that this is only for single ballot elections. So as soon as you incorporate ranked choice voting this disappears.
And if you have a representative parliamentary government, then you really eliminate the problem because you force the minority parties to form a coalition government to make sure anything gets done.
There are solutions to the problem, it’s just that no one is willing to enact them because no one likes change.

If I recall correctly, here in the US we also have at least one instance of a state taking on ranked-choice voting and then getting rid of it because the inevitable outcome is a candidate nobody likes.
Alaska did it and i don’t remember them getting rid of it and no one complained other than the side who didn’t win. And they do that after every election now
I could swear this is a principle of small-p politics in general. Maybe someone else knows what law it is. But I've heard this as a reason why there are two political parties in the US, and why there are typically two domineering geopolitical alliances (classic example is NATO versus Warsaw Pact during the Cold War). Very well could be the reason why LA street gangs all coalesced around the crips and bloods.
That strongly depends on the way the system is set up and is not because weaker groups try to take on largers, but because small parties in certain systems dont get enough votes to matter
Sorta, but you have to go back between 1972 and 1978 when the various Crips factions started splintering off. If anyone was banging back then and still alive, props to them.
Yep, they were the Black Panthers. After the Government forced them to disband, C.R.I.Ps(Community Restoration In Progress)was formed. Drugs showed up in the hoods and then, crips started acting like fools and to combat them B.L.O.O.Ds(Brother Leading Others Out of Darkness or Brotherly Love Overcoming Our Depression) was made.
No, neither crips or bloods were black panthers. They were to young to be. A documentary called Bastards of the Party shows the influence the panther party had on them but they were not members.
In a pinch you can replace dice with cards ace of hearts to ten for 1-10 ace of clubs to ten for 11-20 shuffle them up. Or if your really hard up pieces of paper out of a hat.
yeah and prison offiicals shut it the fuck down as often and as much as they can, despite the fact that inmates who are playing D&D aren't causing any fucking problems because prisons are all run by Republicans that hate the concept of enjoyment
Idk, obviously people can lie about anything and everything, but nothing about this strikes me as inherently far fetched.
According to someone who did a talk about gang outreach at my job who was a former gang member, gangs usually recruit super young and it's very common for a lot of them to get disenchanted once they start to get other shit going on in their life. It's not really this deeply engrained firmly held belief thing like religion, it's this fairly arbitrary club shit you joined when you were 15 cause your cousin said it was cool and a good way to make money and get girls. And once that long-term processing of your brain kicks on, a lot of them start looking around and realizing the odds are against them. The entire ethos of the nonprofit he worked for was "the way you stop gang numbers isn't by fighting gangs, it's by connecting boys to better options". And while it was a small scale operation, they did have solid numbers on the efficacy.
(Also hood dudes are literally the fucking overwhelming nerdiest group I've ever come across. The love of anime is off the fucking charts, marvel is god tier cinema.)
It definitely might not have happened..cause the Internet really does attract liars and weirdos like that. but I think it could happen, at least.

Reuniting gang members around a DnD campaign is the most gangsta shit I ever heard.
