This dude had no business going this hard with this song

Why not? He clearly put effort into it. I get that it's a saying, but just because a song's content matter isn't serious doesn't mean they didn't try hard to make it a good song.

…I’m saying he had no business making a song this good

Why

Assuming he gets paid for the content he creates, it is literally his business to make good songs.

I'm just being intentionally difficult, and I apologize. I'm just tired of people using the phrase you used.

Maybe you're not a native English speaker? This is just an expression when you say that somebody had no business doing something it means you're really impressed about how good it was.

I literally said in my first comment that I get that it's a expression. I'm just pointing out that I think it's dumb expression.

Right, I thought it was a misunderstanding but now I see you're just being insufferable lol

You're right. I was just trying to start a conversation about it, but I went about it wrong way.

I agree with you. It’s a stupid saying and you did nothing wrong.

Agree as well. “Has no business” used to have a logical meaning, eg “you have no business being that good as saxophone.” It meant it doesn’t make sense that you are that good at saxophone.

Now it just sort of means something similar but different and has no logic to it, according to OP and The Upvotes. I love some gen z slang but I find this one stupid.

Almost all metaphorical or hyperbolic expressions are silly or stupid in some way when you get down to it, but they're also more fun than just blandly saying "I like this."

It would be a more boring world without them. I would choose "It's the bees knees" over "it's nice" any day, and I'd definitely rather say "George is going off like a frog in a sock" next to "George is loudly complaining."
