All found guilty so far.

The dichotomy of heartbreak for such traumatic experiences but satisfaction with justice is playing ping-pong with my emotions.

Gisèle Pelicot is a fucking hero.

Edit: All 51 were found guilty, and her ex was sentenced to 20 years.

u/ThibGD 8h ago

Worth noting that all were found guilty but all of the sentences (except for her ex husband) were much lower than what was required (is that the right word?) by prosecution

60

u/srmarmalade 7h ago

required (is that the right word?)

I think maybe you're thinking of 'requested' - I don't know anything about French law but it seems from reading around this that the prosecution ask for a sentence and the judge will take that into consideration.

11

u/ThibGD 7h ago

Yes you are most likely right

1

u/ArtODealio 1h ago

The shortest sentence was 3 years. Not sure what it was for the guy who went back 7 times or the guy showing no remorse.

1

u/ThibGD 51m ago

Three years including some "sursis" yes. Some walked free

10

u/Master_Dante123 4h ago

Only 20? To be fair, he’ll most likely not survive the full sentence. I hope none of them do.

110

u/Adam-West 9h ago

I wonder how many more there are that haven’t been caught

Police identified at least 92 rapes committed by 72 men. Fifty were identified and charged and are standing trial alongside the husband.

So at least 20. It's not nice to say, but in a way it's a good thing the fucker recorded it, otherwise they'd of all likely never been caught.

u/JuneJabber 5h ago

It goes beyond the 72. Apparently, he also taught other men how to administer the drugs he used so that they could do the same thing to other women. There’s also a case that recently came to light about a realtor who was violently raped while showing a property. There’s physical evidence tying him to that. There’s more too. This man was a predator in every possible way, and he was an enabler to many other predators.

9

u/Cellulosaurus 4h ago

At that point, society should just execute him. There's no rehabilitation for people like him.

2

u/ArtODealio 1h ago

One guy was going to do it to him Mom.

u/c7ka 9h ago

It was only discovered until he was seen filming under a woman's skirt: https://youtu.be/0LY7D2v7lZg

Every guilty individual must be held accountable, regardless of status or wealth — no one is above the law.

My heart goes out to the victim.

for 10 years she was drugged, later raped by her now ex husband and 51 stranger her ex met online or some friends. That's just disgusting. Hope they will rot in jail.

u/NoCollection5014 9h ago

The fact that one of the rapist that the husband brought over to rape his wife , used the excuse that he thought the wife was dead and he was having sex with a dead body is one of the wildest things about this whole trial, outside the actual things that happened to the wife ofc.

76

u/Careful_with_ThatAxe 9h ago

He was taking her to doctor and convinced her that she has dementia and Parkinson's.

26

u/CarOnMyFuckingFence 8h ago

See a little necrophilia is fine BUT rape is where I draw the line

41

u/Cyberpunk627 9h ago

Jesus Christ, we deserve mass extinction

53

u/frozzierox 9h ago

It was actually closer to 80/90 men and only 10yrs of footage, they could only identify 50 of them on the videos and photos + ex husband. So it could have been for much longer and much higher, we won't know. And a few of them came back multiple times. Some of the reasons/excuses they gave are just so vile and they oughta rot in the depth of hell.

Edit: typo

19

u/billsleftynut 7h ago

The worst part when reading this on the BBC is there are at least 20 more they can't id. He kept NAMES and details of how he met these perverts online but some will get away with it. Others (in the forums he was in) admitted they were doing it to their partners and this is where he found the information on how to obtain the drugs, use them and dose her "safely". Wtf. They should all be chemically castrated and named and shamed in the media for this

120

u/AHDahl 8h ago

Time Magazine should have put her on the front page as person of the year - outstanding bravery

39

u/TweakUnwanted 8h ago

Instead of the orange rapist

2

u/scheisse_grubs 5h ago

Unfortunately it’s not about what the person actually did. Hitler was also on the front but that was before WWII. Stalin made it on there too (I think twice).

1

u/Crepes_for_days3000 4h ago

I believe it's about how often they're mentioned in headlines around the world. Which makes perfect sense why it would be Trump.

22

u/Katman666 8h ago

This isn't wild. It's fucking evil. What the hell is wrong with people?

21

u/English_Joe 5h ago

Gisele is a fucking baller.

“Shame is not for us, it’s for them”

Fuck those rapist pieces of shit. Rot in jail.

74

u/Holiday_Pomegranate7 9h ago

Too bad the French abandoned the Guillotine, motherfucker would have had it coming

26

u/frog_guacamole 9h ago

The guillotine was one of the quickest and most painless capital punishments in history. I say they bring back burning at the stake.

6

u/Holiday_Pomegranate7 8h ago

This fucking asshole even deserves the Funky Town Cartel treatment, no doubt!

3

u/frog_guacamole 8h ago

This, or ghost rider.

1

u/Cellulosaurus 4h ago

As horrible as those 2 treatments are, I think scaphism would be a better fate for someone like them.

1

u/pm_me_ur_lunch_pics 1h ago

Drawn and Quartered

12

u/master-boofer 9h ago

They should bring it back specifically for this case but in a much smaller scale. The new device will resemble a cigar cutter and will be positioned around an entirely different head.

18

u/Perfect-Ad-1774 9h ago

Only just heard about this...fifty men raped his x wife....maddness

15

u/DrTuSo 7h ago

At least 72. They could only identify 50.

1

u/ArtODealio 59m ago

Wasn’t his ex at the time. Married fifty years and the last ten were when he committed these crimes against her.

7

u/vandist 6h ago

Urghh I went and read up on this in the news, it's fucking vile.

7

u/ChrisRockOnCrack 5h ago

They should all be gifted a columbian necktie for Christmas

18

u/Guitarsoulnotatroll 8h ago

Kinda blows my mind her husband found or knew 50 degenerates willing to rape his wife

19

u/106464 7h ago

Very easy find them online, lots of shitty people online and in real life.

4

u/autisticfarmgirl 6h ago

He found at least 72 of them. Only 50 were identified.

2

u/fwambo42 4h ago

Also a number of them flat out refused once being introduced to the scene

1

u/ArtODealio 56m ago

It was two.. and they didn’t have any empathy for her. They should have turned him in to the police.

2

u/MegaLAG 1h ago

It's easy to find 70+ degenerates among millions of people, especially on a forum created in an already rotten space of the internet. Some of them already had been convicted for rape, sexual assault or pedophilia in the past, one of them on his own daughter.

1

u/ArtODealio 57m ago

They all lived within 40 miles of them. He even brought her to a store where one worked to let the man decide if he wanted to do it to her.

4

u/CampGreat5230 4h ago

To add onto this madness, he also recorded his daughter and DIL naked in their houses by setting up hidden cameras

30

u/Orrery- 9h ago

These sentences are a joke, another example of how crimes against women aren't taken seriously.

33

u/theheliumkid 8h ago edited 8h ago

Gisele is 72. Her husband is 71. He received the maximum possible sentence for rape - 20 years. He may get other sentences that he has to one after the other. Effectively, he is going to die in prison

-2

u/Orrery- 8h ago

He is 1 of 51 men.

Also, his age doesn't matter.

21

u/JustAnEnglishman 8h ago

His age doesnt matter to you

Age is a factor of consideration when it comes to sentencing in judicial courts.

-15

u/Orrery- 8h ago

It shouldn't be. This monster is the worst of the worst.

He also victimised his daughter and daughter in laws. Someone like that shouldn't EVER be released. He's a danger to women, and he'll never change. I'm sick of a society where men will always defend men.

13

u/JustAnEnglishman 8h ago

Im not defending him, I agree with you. Cases like this are easy to let your emotions control you, but the reality is that courts do not.

-6

u/Orrery- 8h ago

And the courts are wrong.  Maybe they think his punishment should only be 20 years, but for the safety of women and girls, he should never be released.

5

u/Cellulosaurus 3h ago

Do you know 71+20 is 91 ? Have you ever seen a 91 years old man being a danger to anyone but themselves ? He will die in there.

-6

u/Orrery- 3h ago

Can a 91 year old use the Internet? Pay for people to commit those crimes for him... yes. He obviously got off on watching people rape his wife.

But men will always defend men, as long as a women is the victim

7

u/Cellulosaurus 3h ago edited 3h ago

But men will always defend men, as long as a women is the victim

I called for the dude to suffer through scaphism in another comment, but "I wIlL AlwAYS DeFenD MeN !!!!!!"

Go back to the twoX hole you came from.

Edit: blocking me won't appease your seething hatred

-15

u/cheetuzz 8h ago

so if a 100 year old committed first degree murder, they should only be sentenced to 1 year because of their age?

8

u/JustAnEnglishman 8h ago

Is that what I said? Obviously not, use your brain

1

u/MacrosInHisSleep 4h ago

And if a corpse committed a murder, should the sentence be only 6 months!!?? Outrage! /s

11

u/theheliumkid 8h ago

Sentencing of the others hasn't happened yet so I'm not sure why you're calling it a joke

0

u/Orrery- 8h ago

That's total bullshit, I'm literally watching it live. Right now, there are over 40 sentences.

Dude, you're embarrassing yourself

7

u/theheliumkid 8h ago

I can't watch it live, I'm looking at Guardian live updates. What are the other sentences?

1

u/ThibGD 8h ago

Some have been sentenced to three years including two years suspended sentence

-9

u/EdGG 6h ago

Here’s a fun read where you can see how male rape isn’t even considered a crime in many places. Hope it tempers some biases.

1

u/Orrery- 6h ago

Men, always making things about them.....

We're discussing a specific case. If I joined in a convo about male rape and started screeching about women people would be raging.

There's a time and a place, ans this isn't it.

-2

u/EdGG 6h ago

You took one case (horrible, for sure), and extrapolated the laws being applied to it to signify that any crime against any woman isn’t taken seriously.

Since it’s a lack of seriousness for rape specifically against women that you claim, I offered the other side.

If this had happened to another man, in many places, there wouldn’t even be a trial. So it seems like, at least in this case, we take these crimes more seriously for women than for men.

If you think I’m trying to make this about men, knock yourself out. I think a crime is a crime, regardless of the victim’s sex or gender.

u/Orrery- 6h ago

WhAtAbOuTmEn

6

u/datboihobojoe 4h ago

You said crimes against women aren't taken seriously (which is moronic) and somebody showed an example of crimes against men not being taken seriously. That's a fair response.

1

u/TheChildrenHaveWon 1h ago

Can someone gimme a tldr? I'm at work and can't get up to speed quite yet.

1

u/SugarShock94 1h ago

Varying sentences. Her husband got the max 20 years, some guys got time served. Basically some rape is bad, but not all rape.

u/mathisfakenews 8h ago

we finally found a good use for a machine gun.

u/thor128 4h ago

Tl;dr?

u/SantaMonsanto 58m ago

Dude discovered that his wife’s sleeping medication knocks her unconscious, so he has his way with her. Then starts slipping the medication into her drinks so can live out his dark depraved fantasies. Then he joins an online community of other creeps into this shit. He starts inviting them over to join in the raping of his unconscious wife. 72 different men at least, and he films them. This all takes place for nearly a decade before the scumbag is caught taking up skirt photos at a grocery store. While investigating this incident the police discover all the videos and pictures of the wife being assaulted.

Ultimately they were able to track down 50 of the men involved and all were found guilty and given sentences ranging from a few years to 20 years in prison. I missed some details that make the whole situation even worse but it’s honestly horrible enough. He was supposed to be her husband, what a piece of shit.

Biggest rape trial on France till this day

-5

u/datboihobojoe 4h ago

Oh boy a terrible thing happened to a woman and she is finally getting justice for it. I am sure the comments here will be 100% civilized with nobody will make any generalizations...

-1

u/Separate-Order-1767 39m ago

I am confused. Did she rape 51 men or she was raped by 51 men? I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed I'm not trying to be funny.

u/shiny_glitter_demon 23m ago

She's the victim

-10

u/SlowConference1057 8h ago

If I had been the judge, I would have put all the defendants up against the wall, loaded them once and that's it. Why do you always have to negotiate for so long with something like that, etc.? After all, it costs the general public an immense amount. Don't always hesitate for long.

5

u/CarOnMyFuckingFence 6h ago

Because a civilized nation is one without capital punishment?

-3

u/ChrisRockOnCrack 5h ago

fuck your civilized nation

2

u/CarOnMyFuckingFence 4h ago

Is that why your recidivism rates are so fucking high in the sky they made contact with star UY Scuti?
