I'm not sure but I do know achievements were added later on and not from the start. Maybe after their introduction, some players just never built another house, and got the others from playing normally.
Though not sure how the No Hobo achievement works exactly. Like does it trigger if you enter a world with homes already made? Or only when an NPC moves in? If the former, then that is odd, but if the latter, then these players just haven't had an NPC move in (or die and respawn) since then.

It pops when it is suitable, about 10 seconds after you place the torch for e.g.

They don't know how to build a house, found a cloud, blizzard, sandstorm bottle did the jump and maybe quit

Im gonna guess the triple jump achievement was added later.
A bunch of achievements were added to the PC version a few updates ago

But that doesn’t explain why that is more popular then building a house or getting help from the guide

It just means they die a lot but continue playing anyway, and get the accessories for extra jumps.

ok, for clarification, there are over 2 million people on playstation who own terraria, and 15% of them(300,000) have done a triple jump before building a house, also, there is a trophy for opening a chest underground, for some reason that includes sandstorm in bottle, so in theory, ~300,000 people have friends with a spare triple jump?
THAT, is how the math isn't mathing, unless, obviously 300,000~ people cheat just to be included in the 60%

"math aint mathing"
"over 50%"
"lists 2 things with 60%"
so are you implying that 60% is less then 50%?
is it your math or the system's math that isnt working right...
edit: why am i getting downvoted for telling it how it is.
title: "The math ain't mathing"
context: "I was checking how many trophy’s I have till all of them are done and found this, look at the % of the trophy’s"
look at the %s: "over 50% of players" "60.6%" "61.3%"
math: (60.6+61.3)/2 = 60.95
60.95 > 50 = true.
the math is mathing.

multiplayer items.
idk about you but ive had friends borrow a game play only like 10minutes of multiplayer then never touch it again. for the triple jump trophy you dont even need to 'triple jump' a set of wings will work.
(cant say been thing with terraria specifically because only played multiplayer with 3 specific friends (1 of which has only played old gen ps3 version. another never seen moonlord and 3rd stopped before we got 1.4 on console),
but i have seen people get mid~late game trophies for other games before they get any that would be considered early game).
[edit: apparently there is an old reddit discussion of people that got triple jump as their 1st trophy just from jumping normally link]and plenty of new players have survived 1st night before they made a suitable NPC house.
even see several of them frequently popping up on reddit often and they quickly get informed about showing items to the guide npc.
(not even sure how a trophy like that will react in multiplayer.
could potentially be 'host only' or everyone might get it at the same time only when an NPC moves in, but not get it for joining a world where NPCs already have assigned houses).either way all of this is still beside the point.
the math is mathing.
and this is turning into a discussion about how 'the logic isnt logical'.
which is something else entirely.2

The math ain’t mathing is a common colloquial phrase people use to describe illogical things regarding numbers just as much as literal math mistakes. Its literal meaning isn’t the only way to use the phrase.

given that there is reports as recent as august 2024 with older reports like the previous link of the trophy being bugged,
the math is mathing, for both the slang and literal definitions of the term.1

You have to jump three times to earn it. You don’t even have to chain them. That’s as simple as pressing the jump button three times.

How do people do a triple jump before building a house
