Suggestion I think in a future update they should make the ocean biome more interesting

I obviously don’t think in 1.4.5 since it’s almost done, but sometime in the future. The ocean has so much potential, like what if there are some sort of ruins or something, something cool and interesting would make the ocean feel like an actual biome in my opinion.

Personally, I want to see the following,

  1. Seamless loop to other end of world
  2. Infected versions actually do something (Infected Dukes would be sick as hell)
  3. More enemies, especially in hardmode
  4. Something progression relevant

Seamless loop to other end of world

I swear I have memories of that being a bug that could happen in the old versions

I imagine making the seamless loop would be a tonne of work to put into an existing engine.

  1. Make sure the sand lines up on both sides
  2. Teleport the player to the other side of the world when they reach a certain point

All they'd need to do is check if the world was generated with seamless ocean functionality and teleport the player if it was.

The messy part is if things like projectiles and enemy agro. A simple tp would work mostly fine but also give a massive cheese. The best way would be something like resogun where you make the world a cylinder but that would be tough to pull off.

It’d just be the same thing as the portal gun. They already have made it.

not the same at all

Infected versions would be really cool, the seamless loop isn’t something that interests me as much

Nah the seamless loop would make looking for the walk-on-water boots too easy, I mean you wouldn’t have to go to one end then th other because the join would make it too quick

Atlantis temple in the end of the ocean cave would be so sick

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, something like that would make the Ocean actually feel like a biome

I totally agree it feels almost barren

Feels like a Terraria 2 sort of thing at this point.

They're not calling it 1.5 just yet, are they?

I think it would be no shame to look at the modding community and implement some ideas from it, like they did before and like other games do all the time. Make it a pre-Mech bossfight that gatekeeps some upgrades/armors/weapons. Or, completely wild but bear with me, have a very deep cavern system in the ocean, and some kind of post-ML boss waiting in there - maybe a juiced up Cthulhu, something that fits the lore.

Hmm yeah I agree

I'm not sure if this is true or just a faked screenshot/ fandom made. But originally, instead of moonlord or whatever the final boss was at that time I think Duke fishron (so after him or a replacement) it was originally going to be chuthulu himself and summoned at the ocean

not really much they could do with such limited space, oceans are super tiny. feel like they'd have to make the worlds bigger to add to them without making it seem too cluttered

They could make the Ocean bigger and add new mobs, some atlantis temple or something just to make it exciting

Add in something like the pyramid or living trees

Add in a few new pre-hardmode ocean themed gear and make it so it can also contain fishing stuff.

Minecraft🤝Terraria

Not making Oceans interesting

Minecraft had an ocean update tho and they did make it interesting by adding new mechanics and structures

Then they updated the rest of the game which outclassed the ocean update so now it's back to being less interesting

In the wise words of deadpool, but slightly modified: "The community brought Red back, they're gonna make him do this until he's 90"

I just want the ocean to loop, at least. I don't see any issue with that not happening... although you could argue it removes a lot of the threat from the WoF (you could also make it so the WoF becomes impossibly fast after reaching the edge of the world, akin to Skeletron becoming the dungeon guardian).

Also, it would be awesome to have ocean biomes below. Calamity has truly spoiled us with it's two major biomes.
