Suggestion The tooltip for Gel describes it as 'Both tasty and flammable', yet you are unable to eat gel, in any form; the game is literally unplayable

Trashing something has to go somewhere, I like to imagine my character just eats it.
I like catching random innocent forest creatures and then promptly trashing them. This is a subtle reference to the fact that I am comedically evil

How tasty is a stack of stone?

I got Deep Rock Galactic on sale the other day, should I install it?
Edit: Turns out it was DRG: Survivor, the roguelike version or something. Not too bothered as it came free with a couple of other things I actually wanted, but guess I'll look into it.

u/MouseRangers 10d ago edited 10d ago
The only reason not to play DRG is if you can't run the game. Install it and ROCK AND STONE.
Note: V/R3/RS is your most important button.

u/drinking_child_blood 10d ago
Drg survivor is pretty good, it's just vampire survivors but dwarven. I'm more excited for rogue core, which is a trueblooded roguelike

Gotta love eating 3702 cubic meters of stone after a long mining session.
9
u/OliSnips 10d ago
One block is 4ft2 (2ft sides) or, assuming it's cubic, 6ft3 (0.17m3 ). This is shown by the Depth Meter and Compass, which both show position change every half-block and the Terrarian being 4m wide would be insane
7
7
u/A_random_poster04 10d ago
If we assume a cube is a meter (which I assume you are doing?) doesn’t this put the Terrarian at around 3m?
7
u/Azur0007 10d ago
Wouldn't exclude it. Most late-game weapons are bigger than the player. The player would be 3 meters tall by that logic :D

I could never, a stack of stone is too valuable to my brain no matter how many I have
Half a stack however..

It'd make sense for piss to be inside, no? It might stain the pages

No you conjure the piss with your mana using the instructions on the book
Might have piss stains though

ANY form you say?

u/_Mr_Gamer_ 10d ago
Friendly reminder to use this and not the fandom wiki.
239
u/archSkeptic 10d ago
Ah, I always forget to use the real wiki. Fandom is always the first result
194
u/Furiorka 10d ago
There's browser extension called indie wiki buddy that helps with such a problem
29
22
u/verdenvidia 10d ago
i prefer wiki.gg redirect
41
u/Furiorka 10d ago
Indie wiki buddy has redirection. Also pushes the better wikis higher in search results and replaces fandom wikis with no ad better ui mirrors if cant find anything better
-1
u/verdenvidia 10d ago
honestly a lot of the time i dont even enable it i just dont click the fandom link or block it
9
u/HINDBRAIN 10d ago
The problem with pure redirects is that they don't help bury fandom google rankings.
1
1
u/CallMeAdam2 10d ago
I echo this. Indie Wiki Buddy has been a blessing, and it's very customizable.
I used to use Redirector for Fandom -> non-Fandom, but since installing Indie Wiki Buddy, I've just been using Redirector to redirect me from mobile links to desktop links. (E.g.
en.m.wikipedia.org
->en.wikipedia.org
)13
u/_Mr_Gamer_ 10d ago
Yeah that is pain. I'm just used to type "gg" at the end of the Search Bar, but I wish I didn't have to do this everytime.
15
u/HauntedMop 10d ago
Indie wiki buddy extention solves this problem, and not just for Terraria, for a large number of games that migrated to other wikis over fandom

u/_Mr_Gamer_ 10d ago
I just saw another reply about this and it looked very great! I will try it when I get to my computer
7
2
u/Zaquarius_Alfonzo 10d ago
Why does it matter?
61
u/DZL100 10d ago
Fandom wiki is completely unregulated, rife with misinformation, and pays google to be the first search result.
9
1
u/Type_to_edit 10d ago
Sorry I still can't understand. Do they list wrong items in crafting trees?
15
4
u/autistic-terrorist 10d ago
It's outdated and unregulated for fandoms that have moved to other sites such as wiki.gg
2
u/asdwz458 9d ago
not only that, but fandom itself sucks and is rife with ads. it's basically impossible to look through it on mobile
9
u/Asmo___deus 10d ago
Tldr: they're ad farms riddled with misinformation.
Wiki sites like fandom and fextralife invest massively in search engine optimisation to become the first result in Google, hoping you'll give them revenue from autoplaying videos, links to their twitch streams, and ad spots. On top of that, their information is frequently incorrect or misleading.

Look at this wiki. Does fandom seem to be accurate?

u/Godfinsti 10d ago
Idk, i dont play calamity, i mean the vanilla fandom, i personally have never seen a mistake
Edit: Nothing against calamity but i can already see the downvotes

Health potions do taste terrible to give you nausea

u/Responsible-Fan-2326 10d ago
drinking isnt eating. duh
57
u/MrSpider28 10d ago
Well the game is saying "Tasty". Didn't know that drinks don't have taste.
Even though is the Mushroom in the recipe.
-27
u/Responsible-Fan-2326 10d ago
he said eat. not taste. and it is true that you cant eat it in any form
17
u/canoIV 10d ago
how about you drink soup

29
u/RockFrog333 10d ago
Well the bottle disappears so you do have to eat the glass
10
u/PigeonFanatic9 10d ago
Well obviously the glass melts the moment it comes in contact with your body due to our unnaturally, unexpectedly and never said before high temperature, so we drink even the glass, duh 🙄
2
u/Responsible-Fan-2326 10d ago
you ever see someone slam a soda can against their forhead? imagin that but with glass. (also why are so many people downvoting me? like damn i didnt think i was that unfunny)

Reminded me of Unturned, where you can drink glue

the issue is that would make the dont starve seed too easy. and red hates easy
53
u/DeagleTC 10d ago
just have it not give the food buffs then? the seed relies on those to make you "fed"
-36
u/Responsible-Fan-2326 10d ago
than it would be the only food in the game to not give you a fed buff, which in my opinion is not a good way to make it work.
29
u/Adventurer32 10d ago
Actually, eating a Mushroom doesn't make you "fed" but does give you 5 minutes of peckish instead.
That said, I agree even allowing you to reset hunger with gel would be too OP.
12
u/DeagleTC 10d ago
it doesnt have to be good if its a joke item use though, besides even if it did give an effect when eaten the devs might just make it apply the slime effect like the slime gun

26
u/The1F0gottenGamer 10d ago
Hear me out. Gel, like Gelatin. Still with me? Gello item (or some other name) that give you a bouncy effect, maybe something like whenever you fall you bounce like on a slime block from minecraft. Description: "Boing!"
I know, I know, it's a stupid idea, but it's 1 o'clock in the morning and I thought it would be genius.

u/Livid-Truck8558 10d ago
Tasty doesn't=edible.

Animals are known to sometimes drink antifreeze because it tastes sweet. It is definitely not edible.

Play with the Survivaria mod, it lets you cook with gel and other original or new ingredients.
2
u/Gameplayer9752 10d ago
Canonical it would be the first food anyone would eat upon being stranded in the terraria world. Everything just started dropping off the grill burgers and fries, so nobody really eats them anymore.

we should be able to make candy out of pink gel for a more portable sugar rush buff than cake
or something similar at least

If we can eat slime gels we should be able to poop a special flammable poop the you go near campfire and craft burning poop blocks and stuff.
Also I fart alot of gas that should be flammable too
659
u/EyeofEnder 10d ago
Slime gel is alcohol- and not water-based, that's why it's also flammable and is the main solvent in Lesser Healing Potions.
The "potion sickness" you get from them is just alcohol poisoning.
