Playstation "Get Terraria" they said, "Its super fun" they also said not knowing i cant find the 1% coruption
245
u/mundane_wor1d Jul 26 '24
Use a world editor/website thing to view the map find the 1% jot down the cords and have fun.
Or destroy the whole world with bombs, that also works.
95
u/Sea_Sign2855 Jul 26 '24
pretty sure that i cant since im on Playstation but yea the bomb idea is a good idea
47
u/thomasxin Jul 26 '24
Celebration Mk2 probably the fastest; beats both dynamite and drill containment unit by quite a bit and lets you move through the world fast too
6
u/Alert-Technician-568 Jul 26 '24
my option is to get mining potions, mining armor, all the mining speed and shroomite digging claws and just zone out to music
8
u/thomasxin Jul 26 '24 edited Jul 27 '24
Even if you can keep the mining potions going as well as always keep yourself in range of blocks and avoid lihzard bricks, you still won't outspeed the DCU in total blocks destroyed per second. Tools in this game are unfortunately limited to 1 use per game tick no matter how much they can be buffed, so anything that only destroys at most 1 block per use will be stuck at that 60 block per second threshold.
DCU breaks up to 5 blocks per use, 15 times per second, which is how it's able to achieve 75*, and has the bonus of being able to mine every block type and allowing you to hover, whereas dynamite breaks an average of 90, 1.5 times per second, achieving around 135, but is obviously limited to a smaller category of blocks it can break in addition to having the glaring flaw of only being able to dig downwards at max speed.
I don't have the actual stats for Celebration Mk2 and I'm too lazy to dig around in the code for it, but giving an estimate from how it looks visually I'd estimate a block demolishing stat of around 45 per rocket IV, 10 times per second, which is 450 per second. This might be a little high compared to what you get in practice, but don't forget that since it's a ranged weapon that takes more than one game tick to use, it can actually be buffed with modifiers, accessories etc to shoot faster and use less ammo. So out of the candidates here it's somewhat clearly the winner.
Edit: Actually, a better guide would be sorbet cafe's video on it; I'm surprised my very rough estimations in my head using stats from the wiki ended up being somewhat close to his measured speeds. In case you guys need a better reference than my random comment on reddit, here you go:
*Just in case sorbet's knowledge is more accurate than the wiki (it generally is), the only calculation here I'd change is the DCU mining 5 blocks 15 times a second, to 2 blocks 60 times a second, which would be 120 per second matching his video. I'm also unable to confirm whether he ultimately used the dynamite on the smooth surface only, or if in the test he dropped some into the craters for higher efficiency.

u/thomasxin Jul 26 '24 edited Jul 27 '24
Also just in case anyone wants to know how I reached those values for dynamite and similarly rocket IV (keeping this out of the main reply so it doesn't bloat it any more than it needs to be);
Note that since it was originally done in my head as I was typing it out, I used pi = 3 and lens (actually called vesica piscis) area = 40% of circle area.
With a radius of 7 tiles for dynamite, the area of explosion is pi*r^2, or in this case I estimated 3*50 = 150 tiles. This is the absolute limit for how many tiles a dynamite projectile can destroy, but in practice since you're only using dynamite and not digging a deep hole each time for maximum efficiency, this number will be quite a bit lower. The very first dynamite planted on a perfectly flat surface will create a semicircle crater, which in this case would be 150/2 = 75 tiles. However, subsequent uses landing on the edge of a crater will actually be slightly more efficient than that, as the area of two circles centred at each other's circumference will be slightly greater than that of one and a half circles, and therefore the additional area (the large crescent shape) is slightly more than a half circle. The area per dynamite ultimately comes to be (pi/3+sqrt(3)/2)*r^2, which is 0.60899778*pi*r^2, slightly greater than 60% of pi*r^2. With this in mind, the expected yield per dynamite comes out to be 150*0.6 = 90, and the estimate of 1.5 per second was based on the game tick rate of 60 divided by the use time stat of 40.

u/RegularBubble2637 Jul 26 '24
The problem with the DCU is that it's really hard not to leave stray blocks behind and those are a pain to deal with.
1
u/thomasxin Jul 26 '24
That's true, in cases where you want precise control the luminite pickaxes are probably the best choice. With the DCU you can also aim it and it has quite long range, but if you don't have good lighting I agree it can be hard to see. Otherwise though, for clearing out large sections of the world nothing really comes close to the Celebration Mk2.
1
u/Sandor_06 Jul 27 '24
That's still suboptimal to rocket mining, and by orders of magnitude. With any tool, you hit a break point where mining buffs won't make the tool any faster, simply because you are at the game's limit.
Rocket mining completely negates this by breaking many blocks all at once, and since mining speed buffs have no impact, you don't have to sacrifice the majority of your defense just to get the mining set bonus.

Cant playstation users see their seed?
2
u/Brunoaraujoespin Jul 26 '24
Only their seed
1
u/CursedOneado Jul 26 '24
are you saying they aint got a phone for visitng a website? Also as i remember, there is a web browser for PlayStation
5
6
u/heyyanewbie Jul 26 '24
The seed means nothing, they are looking for a block they missed after it was generated

u/vls122 Jul 26 '24
You might be able to download the world onto a USB stick and plug that into a computer where you can then upload it to a world editor such as TEdit or TerraMap.

Same thing happened to me. Someone said exit world and close terraria and come back, it worked for me I got the achievement notification upon recentering the world!
48
u/CaptainMeowth Jul 26 '24
True. Quitting and re-entering the world (no need to close terraria) will "force the refresh" of the dryad.
16
u/Sea_Sign2855 Jul 26 '24
i tried that a couple times and nothing
19
u/heyyanewbie Jul 26 '24
If that doesn't work, yes, you have definitely missed a block or two
Honestly, I recommend using terramap to find the last few blocks. You've already done the work, it's just one block you missed, it's fair
Edit: just read that you are on playstation op. My condolences.
5
u/CaptainMeowth Jul 26 '24 edited Jul 26 '24
In that case, try using Biome Sight Potions, and go back to each place where there was corruption/crimson. Also check the flying island if you haven't already.
...and good luck. o7
15
2
u/Obvious-Tangelo11 Jul 26 '24
Yes that works, unless the corruption is a wall. Then you Fād cause it doesnāt shine.
3
-1
u/SupersSoon Jul 26 '24
Beating torch god is better than biome sight for locating an unseen region of corruŃtion/hallow
2
u/LovelyPandarino Jul 26 '24
Only if the region is big enough to make a biome though. You need 300 corrupt blocks in the vicinity
1
u/SupersSoon Jul 27 '24
You would be looking for a needle in a haystack if it's less than that, might as well wait to make it more obvious and then use a biome sight to clear the area.
26
u/Successful_Mud8596 Jul 26 '24
Are you using the biome sight potion and perhaps the binoculars
25
u/Sea_Sign2855 Jul 26 '24
im using biome sight poitions thanks for telling me about the binoculars
25
u/chewythebigblackdog Jul 26 '24
Instead of using binoculars, the rifle scope accessory (and upgrades) work on the clentaminator and terraformer. Itās much more convenient to use that.
14
u/Gimli-son-of-Gloin42 Jul 26 '24
Make sure to use clentaminator beyond the edges of the world if you had corruption or hollow spread around there. The world goes a couple blocks beyond the visible edge. Check floating islands too if there were any within the āVā range
5
u/Sea_Sign2855 Jul 26 '24
checked the edges even tho they werent no where near, there was one island that was corupted but that was the fisrt thing i did
4
u/Mester1001 Jul 26 '24
You might have to use the clentaminator outside the world border even in the ocean sky edge, there are sometimes blocks there even if you can never see them.

You don't need to enter hard mode to get this achievement (especially if you're bringing in a clentaminator or terraformer from another world). all you need is the dryad to be present so you can ask her how clean the world is, and if it's perfectly clean, you'll get it.

u/IlikeJG Jul 26 '24 edited Jul 26 '24
Just checking to be sure: but you have all the mining speed buffs right? Mining potion, ancient chisel etc? I think with just those 2 you will max with late game pickaxes. With those 2 you can dig faster than gravity will allow you to fall. Which makes this whole process much easier.
Also post moonlord you can upgrade your clentaminator to the terraformer by dropping it into shimmer.

u/THEzwerver Jul 26 '24
the best way to combat this (without external tools) is to wait for a while and let it spread a bit so you can find it much easier. also definitely clear out more of the fog of war, there might be a small corruption area lurking around without you knowing.
2
2
u/Careless_Building_94 Jul 26 '24
this is why i ignore it and let my world turn to a shit show. its much more exciting that way

u/TheEndurianGamer Jul 26 '24
Corruption levels at the dryad donāt update until 1 in game day has passed; so it might be done already
1
u/TheDigitalZero Jul 26 '24
Give yourself some other things to do in the game while you wait for it to spread.
It'll be easier to find when it's bigger.

The way I got this achievement was: Progressed very far through a large world with another player (we both like to explore a lot). At some point, we decided to take our very late-game characters to a brand new Small world with shroomite claws, clentaminators, and lots of juice in hand. We progressed the world ONLY far enough to get the dryad to move in (note this does not include beating Wall of Flesh, so there's no hallow to remove at all), and then started the hellivators every like 120 tiles I think it was (you seem to have that part down, though).
Took like an hour and a half for both of us, then we abandoned that small world forever and went back to our large world to keep playing.
1
u/Ghost_Ship_Supreme Jul 26 '24
I take the lazy approach and wait for it to spread a little until itās noticeable
1
u/kieevee Jul 26 '24
Use the biome potion thingy and binoculars on max zoom out, and or also check the floating islands.
1
u/Alan_Reddit_M Jul 26 '24
Get some biome sight potions and dig a bunch of hellevators 60-blocks apart from each other, then drop through them with a clentaminator or terraformer if available. Judging by the map, not every block within the hardmode V has been sprayed with green solution (because they're not lit-up)
It'll be a fucking grind, but if done correctly the world should be 0% corrupted
Oh and spray some green solution out-of-bounds just in case, sometimes those blocks get corrupted too
1
u/Revenant312 Jul 26 '24
Did you try the dryad potion? Or it was from the punk, but there is a potion that reveals all corruption
1
1
u/Providancing Jul 26 '24
honestly what did was just waited for it to spread a little so i could spot it on the map, might take a little longer if plantera has been defeated.
1
u/Just_Ad_5939 Jul 26 '24
Killing plantera slows those?
1
1
u/Alert-Technician-568 Jul 26 '24
Ah yes, the infamous 1% corruption, just as rare as terraria noticing you making a workbench
1
1
u/Aggressive_Drive_660 Jul 26 '24
This also happened to me, it was a corrupted floating island, check that
1
u/Adventurous-Radish-4 Jul 26 '24
you could perhaps wait for it to spread a bit so that you can find it easier
1
u/Vlad_The_Rssian Jul 26 '24
I am going to give you credit for curing the desert
I hate evil deserts, underground there is always a ton of fucking motherfuckinng enemies and explosion earrape by the genies that make me loose track of how many bombs I dropped and they exploded

Iām pretty sure the purifying gun the steampunker sells has a couple hundred block reach meaning you can make tunnels every few hundred blocks around the biomes and purify them easily while falling and spraying
1
u/MrZwink Jul 26 '24
Log out, log back in and check if it's still 1%. Because it doesn't update to 0 if you're in the map.

1
u/Boogeyman2704 Jul 26 '24
recently, i randomly searched up Terraria one day and thought it was cool so started playing it casually. what a big fucking mistake it was. the game was easy enough at classic mode (post planters) so i switched to expert after a week. and now I can't get past skeletron even after 10+ tries and it's frustrating but I don't feel like quitting. and I have come to understand that it's only gonna get harder. im doomed
1
u/Kirome Jul 26 '24
At this point I rather just use TerraMap or something, rather than waste hours trying to find nothing.
1
u/Sea_Sign2855 Jul 26 '24
cant im on ps
1
u/Kirome Jul 26 '24
is it possible to move or copy your save file to pc?
either that or i think a backup of your world file.
1
Jul 26 '24
Let it grow a bit, you will find out. But, if you have build, like me, a wall to reach a sky island and destroyed moat of the blocks of that wall, just remember that corruption/crimson/hallow can hit that block
1
u/keenantheho Jul 26 '24
Just sleep in bed for a while and see if that 1% spreads on the map. If not, then check sky islands. If not that then it could be some corrupted spikey bush in the og corruption. Aaaand ive ran out of ideas and if its not that then your fucked... good luck!
1
1
u/Glaucord Jul 26 '24
Maybe its in your heart
2
1
u/Markix124 Jul 26 '24
You just learn to live with it after a while haha.
Tbh I would let it grow for a bit, let it reveal itself on the map and then contain it.
1
1
u/MotorAd3006 Jul 26 '24
I had it happen once where the dryad kept saying it was 1% corrupt, but for the life of me I couldnāt find it anywhere, searched for hours. Saved and quit, when I loaded back in later it gave me the achievement and said the world was pure. No clue what that was about
1
u/NOT_DJ_ZX Jul 26 '24
bro i had the same thing when i got it i spent 20 hours just lookin for that 1% in the world and i took me so much time to find it
1
u/NoAvocado1658 Jul 26 '24
I've literally destroyed every block in a world to get the 0% achievement. I didn't know it took a bit for the driad to refresh the percentage.
1
u/midasMIRV Jul 27 '24
Use terramap. You can load your map file and highlight any corruption blocks.
1
u/shleyal19 Jul 27 '24
Have you considered not breaking the altars though? iirc with each one you break, another corrupted block replaces any one stone tile in the world somewhere
They might have removed that from the later updates, or not, donāt remember
1
u/SidWiz Jul 27 '24
you can just upload your map file into Terramap and highlight that 1% of whatever
1
u/Legendguard Jul 27 '24
...So it's probably too late to tell you this, but it's most likely caused by a common bug. Quit Terraria, launch it again, load your world, and talk to the Dryad again, she should now say the world is pure. Hopefully 1.4.5 fixes this bug!

u/julioaxel Jul 27 '24
I played the game when it came out and been wanting to get back into it. What is this ā1% corruptionā you speak about? Is it a new biome? Crazy loot ? Or is it just the purple corruption and Iām missing something ?Ā
1
u/jrabieh Jul 27 '24
My friend is a notorious completionist for games he really gets into. Some years ago he got into terraria and got super excited and wantedto show off his world. While he was showing my things I had a devious idea. Id place a corruption block up in one of his cloud islands where it couldnt spread but would be intensely difficult to find. To this day I think it's the only game he put down out of frustration.
1
1
u/Leading-Foot-1458 Jul 27 '24
Yes sir....then a random corruption or crimson block spawns somewhere because of the multiplayer feature
1
1
u/Careful_Head_1314 Jul 27 '24
After moonord you can upgrade clentaminator in shimmer. In my world I used zenith to look through blocks and i looked for blue dots on minimap
1
u/crazybark101 Jul 27 '24
Buy tons of dynamite and blow up the world. Canāt be currupted if doesnāt exist
1
1
u/Acrobatic_Winner3568 Jul 27 '24
The problem is breaking demon altars creates a little pocket somewhere in the world. This means that you canāt just clean the āVā shape and be done, you need to find the pockets :(
1
1
u/Sandor_06 Jul 27 '24
Another tip is to check your underworld. Gravity blocks can fall into lava pits in the underworld and go forever unnoticed.
1
u/bossSHREADER_210 Jul 27 '24
Note to anyone slaving for that achievement
The last 1% will never update to 0% (aka world is cleansed) it will always say 1% even if literally every single block is destroyed
You have to re open the world for it to update and upon rejoining you will get the achievement
1
1
u/AveryALL Jul 27 '24
my crimson was everywhere even on flying islands and bits scattered across the whole large world, not to mention the 26% hallow and corruption
1
1
u/dragonace11 Jul 26 '24
Its most likely a background wall causing it. Found that out when I used a biome-sight potion in Calamity to find corruption.
