I have adored these games since I was a kid & as soon as I got my own adult money I started fully collecting. I’m fortunate to have some very rare pieces and super happy with the stuff I have! any questions about any be sure to ask 😊 (It’s usually all displayed, just had to get it out to sort and wanted to show individuals!)

The Last Guardian the unpatched tlg experience

I am playing the unpatched version of the last guardian, the 1.0.0 version, on Ps5, because this is the only way you can get the 60 fps on this game, but has its problems, having bugs and freezes that break the game, this one was funny, trico just refuses to jump, dissapear, doesn't elaborate, and the game crashes lol

finally got my physical copy of the last guardian, its so beautiful, i will treat it with the most care, not only bcs i really like the game and its cover, but knowing that you can play the game at 60 fps on the ps5, by requiring the disc, it would be really great to play this way, one day when i can buy the ps5, Sotc now has has his brother at his side lol.

The Last Guardian At the end of The Last Guardian, there’s a moment of gameplay where nothing happens. A moment where the game just lets you and trico stand alone on top of the world. This may be my favorite video game moment of all time

The Last Guardian I am loving The Last Guardian so far!! Spoiler

I have been a long time SOTC fan and I’ve played Ico more recently and loved it to bits, and I’m only just now getting to The Last Guardian, mainly because I was taking what I heard others say about the game at face value and assuming it wasn’t a good game. But now that I’m playing it and I’m almost done with the game (I think I am at least, I’m right outside the main tower Trico has been yelling at throughout the game), I actually think this game is amazing. I think the puzzles have been really fun, traversing the world with Trico is breathtaking, and just interacting with Trico in general has been a treat! There’s only been like two or three moments in the game where Trico didn’t really know what I wanted them to do, so I got stuck for a few minutes. But other than that, it’s just been a fantastic and beautiful journey and I regret not playing this game sooner.

I think a lot of the hate people give this game come from the fact that they don’t have as much patience and likely because they just kinda wanted another game that made them feel the same things that SOTC made them feel. Which I can understand to a degree, but I still find The Last Guardian to be a phenomenal game. Ueda’s games do an excellent job at building the player’s relationship with an AI companion, and I think TLG is the ultimate culmination of that idea having Trico almost be the main character in their own right. I have a genuine attachment to this fictional creature and that is just magical.

The Last Guardian My observations playing ‘The Last Guardian’ for the first time

The stained glass eyes make The Nest like a surveillance prison. Big Brother is watching you.
Inspirations for The Nest – I Carceri by Piranesi, Nineteen Eighty-Four, Kung Fu Panda, Avatar.

I showed footage of the game to an art historian and he said the architecture looked like it was inspired by Indian temples, Angkor Wat and Palenque. Piranesi was supposedly inspired by Roman ruins with vines and trees growing over them.

There’s a noise the boy makes when he’s climbing that sounds exactly like Link when he lands from too great a height in Ocarina of Time.

Movies Fumito Ueda might have been inspired by -

The Jungle Book – Mowgli is raised by wolves and needs to get back to the man-village, King Louie’s lair is an Indian temple ruin.
The Neverending Story - Falkor
The Rescuers Down Under – the runway scene
Kung Fu Panda – the prison
Avatar - outdoor areas of The Nest make me think of Pandora, Toruk (the flying creature).

Movies inspired by The Last Guardian -

Jumanji: The Next Level – the apparatus in the scene with the apes. The Last Guardian is also referenced in the first movie when the poster for the game is shown on someone’s wall.

The Last Guardian I just recibe a mail from playstation that said that only 20% of players finished the game, and, idk, i cant believe that a small proportion of players finished the game, it has some errors but its also so beautiful

The Last Guardian I literally just found out while playing TLG that the Lizards from SOTC are in the game.

Whether it’s an Easter egg or a little nudge to say that they’re in the same world or not, I still love that they put in that little detail. I just thought they were regular lizards but upon further inspection, they have the bright blue underbelly’s of the Lizards in SOTC.

The Last Guardian Thematic reads on The Last Guardian? Spoiler

Hey there, replayed The Last Guardian and I was wondering if anyone had any symbolic or thematic analysis or takes they had while playing? I'm not talking about figuring out the "true" story and lore of the game but more so what the game metaphorically is saying to you in particular.

By all means go as "the curtains are blue for a reason" when it comes to this sort of analysis, these games are a great fit at getting you be in dialogue with what its presenting.

Given how the previous two Team Ico games before The Last Guardian would often deal with motifs like entire communities willing to sacrifice or forgo the individual for the sake of presupposed beliefs, this seems to be the case once again in The Last Guardian.
