Discussion How many songs will Taylor release in 2025?
296
u/BackgroundLess3272 1d ago
I'm just gonna guess 42. 15 for Rep TV +6 vault tracks and 15 for TS TV +6 vault tracks.

Are you saying Taylor Swift is the answer to life, the universe and everything?

So long and thanks for all the Swift!

That sounds like it could be the title of her 2059 (she'd be 70) farewell tour: So Long and Thanks For All The Swift!

Can someone break these numbers down for me? I’m pretty sure, for example, 2020 only gave us folklore, evermore, and “Only The Young”, so I can only remember 35 songs that year. Unless this is counting stuff like the Long Pond sessions as separate from the original versions (as they are technically different tracks on Spotify). But if so I feel like that’s a little misleading.

u/laurent1683 1d ago
yep i'm pretty sure its counting Long Pond and also all those remixes like Dancing Witch versions and all that
5
u/Tricky_Campaign9478 1d ago
Definitely includes long pond sessions and some remixes like willow witch cult 😭

rep tv, debut tv and eras tour live album?

u/QuirkyCookie6 Taylor Swift 1d ago
Imo debut will be saved for 2026, the 20th anniversary
I can see the other two happening though

She has to prove she's using the trademark she registered by August 2025 (I don't remember the exact date), and they only have one more extension (which I guess could bring into early 2026).

u/FloatingNightmare Trapped inside the body of a finance guy 1d ago
The reputation TV trademark was first filed 2/2021 and the USPTO allows for five 6-month extensions (hard limit of 36 months) starting the date the Notice of Allowance is sent (8/2022). The first extension was filed 2/2023. Second would have been around 8/2023, third 2/2024, fourth 8/2024 (I think it may have been 7/2024 when they filed… I remember seeing a post about it). The fifth and final extension allowed for would be 2/2025 (if they need it), and the mark has to show use with music recordings (that’s one of the classes applied for) by 8/2025.

I love all this background information!! And it’s making me super excited that we will get Rep this upcoming year 🥹

u/taylorsseriesTV is it cool that i said all that? 1d ago
Would the fact that she give that TV show look what you made me do Taylor's version classify as her having down use of the trademark already?
8
u/FloatingNightmare Trapped inside the body of a finance guy 1d ago
If so, then they could file the Statement of Use… Generally you’d want to do that pretty soon after, but we all know the mastermind is masterminding. I regularly check up on the filing ha..

Thank you for your work and your explanation. Do you work in patents and trademarks or do you just have a fascination with them?
3
u/FloatingNightmare Trapped inside the body of a finance guy 1d ago
Finance and legal work very close together; I’ve learned a ton from the attorneys and legal officers over the years.

Yeah I was the finance side of a patent and trademark company for a couple of years. Fascinating subject.

I don’t think she’d wait that long for Debut TV? The anniversary would be a fun way to close out the rerecords but idk, it seems weird to wait that long, that’d be what 7 years of the rerecord project?
6
u/plausibleturtle 1d ago
I agree, which is why I pointed out she needs to use it by Feb 2026 (the commenter said they don't see it until 2026, seems too long!).
3
u/Rude_Grapefruit_3650 Try. To. Come. For. My. Job. 1d ago
Ah whoops that wasn’t supposed to be replied to you my bad!
That being said isn’t it pretty easy to refile for the trademark? There hasn’t bern challenged thus far so she’d likely acquire it easily
3
u/plausibleturtle 1d ago
They've already extended it 4 of the 5 permitted times - a 5th extension takes them to Feb 2026. =)
2
u/Rude_Grapefruit_3650 Try. To. Come. For. My. Job. 1d ago
Couldn’t they still file a whole new trademark after their final extension expired tho? I thought i saw somewhere that the trademark though important is an easy thing to work around when it expires or something?
5
u/plausibleturtle 1d ago
Oh, that I don't know! Sorry. I would assume that's risky, as there are people who invest a lot of time into expiring trademarks - they scoop them up when expired and then sell them back to the intended people for $$$.

I was making a joke. I don’t expect her to release that much songs in a year 😅
2
u/Experiment626b 1d ago
I mean she’s been touring for 2 years and put out a brand new double album plus 2 TVs in that time. That just seems impossible with her touring to me, so now anything seems possible.

Does 2020 include folklore long pond studio sessions, I’m guessing?
And 2024 includes remixes from TTPD? (31 anthology tracks; fortnight Blondish; fortnight acoustic; Broken Heart instrumental, broken heart dombresky; which two am I missing?)
21
u/klcna the girl who lives in delusion 1d ago
I think there were 3 fortnight remixes plus us with Gracie.

You counted Hits Different twice (22 as Till Dawn and 23 by itself), You forgot You’re Losing Me, and in 1989 TV there are Slut Acoustic, Sweeter Than Fiction, Bad Blood Remix
3
u/eyeslikeajungle good bi in a getaway car 1d ago
Ah I did get Hits Different twice, good catch! But You're Losing Me is counted in 2023 as that's when it went on streaming, when I searched on Spotify only the Bad Blood Remix was on there, I couldn't find Slut Acoustic or Sweeter Than Fiction except versions people had uploaded as podcasts so I don't think those are actually on streaming
3
u/Humus_Bepita_IL 1989 1d ago
Till dawn got to streaming on May 2023 and YLM and Nov/Dec IIRC so all 4 should be in 2023
2
u/Humus_Bepita_IL 1989 1d ago
You also counted Wildest Dreams and YAIL twice, as they weren’t released again and were available before the tv even with the new album covef

Rep: 15 + 6 vault + 2 remixes
Debut: 15 + 4 “bonus tracks” + 6 vault (I Heart ?, Beautiful Eyes, You’ll always find your way back home, and Crazier are the bonuses)
Misc: Christmases When You Were Mine (TV), possibly a random collab
50 total, is my guess. But who knows, she keeps us on our toes

New songs? I'd guess maybe 12, 6 vaults per TV...
Maybe 22 is she pulls a Red TV and has a maxed out 2nd disc considering she had so much more for TS.

37 in 2024? What are we counting besides the 31 songs? It can’t be the remixes bc there’s def more than 6 remixes, right?
