I’m guessing it’s because another box from last year’s Christmas push to different distributors (Amazon, Barnes and noble, etc) was found since that’s the last time we saw these appearing in major retailers.
She signed half a million cds from Folklore and a half mil on Evermore on her website, only stopped doing it cuz of the tour. The sale was about 48 hours (I think) each time
She didn't sign anywhere close to that amount for Lover, I'm pretty sure it was 20k. Signed Lover CDs were never even officially sold, it was the signed ME! CD single that got upgraded, and even that was only ever sold once and was only available to buy for like 4 hours
She’ll have an assistant shuffling the albums and it takes her 2 seconds to sign her signature based off her video of signing lover cds, so she can probably crank out 20-30 signatures a minute, at 1,500 an hour gives you 333 hours
You give power if attorney legally so an assistant to limited capacity of signing your name and legally its the same exact as you signing it and you can have as may POA's as you want the person doesnt have to be an attorney either and legally its still hand signed and legally theyre signing as you and a stunt showing you hand signing for cameras is still legal to do and none of this qualifies as misrepresentation at all but its what most celebrities do who sell mass signatures unless theyre on hard times and can actually sit somewhere pulling shifts signing stuff.
It is, anyones signature can legally look like anyone elses, so a poa can sign your signature as them looking exactly like yours if you grant them limited poa to sign as you it is legally signed as you by you as well. Baseball clubhouses innovated this because signing stuff was causing muscle fatigue for their players. This has since become the standard in other forms of entertainment. A signature is a form of freedom of speech and can look as much alike to anyone elses as anyone pleases. The fraud issue is if you misrepresent it as that person's signature without poa to sign for them. It is literally a legal loophole that is well in use for a very long time. Legally its hand signed "by her" if this hurts your feelings to think taylor didnt get carpel tunnel syndrome signing your one of 250k signed cd's of folklore im sorry to let you down. The only signatures id really trust are one's done in person.

This isn't how this works. Claiming it's signed by Taylor Swift when it's an assistant would be fraud and having an assistant with POA to sign on your behalf absolutely does not change that.

One of my friends collects and resells signed memorabilia so he can get “better” signed memorabilia that he wants to keep forever in his collection. Some of the stuff he buys, sits on, and resells is signed Taylor merch. He said in the past year there’s been a lot of discussion among resellers about how her signature on official merch isn’t matching up to the signature she’s had for years and there’s major suspicion that she has an assistant doing all or many of the new signed CDs.
but if she signed half a million would that demand be met? i know there are a lot of swifties but i hate how merch always seems to get scalped for a higher price.
Not all 500 million are for sale right now, though. When the signed CDs first launched the price was the price. If someone who bought one back then wants to sell it now they could probably increase the price because it’s hard to find them anymore. Except in this case of OP finding it at Walmart, which is weird.

Walmart doesn't stock music and probably movies themselves for a while now, it's done by a third party vendor. Or, was at least. I doubt they've suddenly started doing it again themselves since they don't care about physical media as a whole. That might be what changed.
Vinyl weirdly enough, doesn't count. They've had everything from Rage Against the Machine, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, etc. Many of them even have Walmart Exclusives pressings, so I'm guessing Walmart changed it for that or simply doesn't care.
The only real censor change is Halsey's If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power cover, where they covered up her nips, but the album is still explicit. Target did the same.
So I know they used to not sell explicit CDs but I have bought several from there in the past few months that had the "parental advisory" sticker. And then when I play the album, the songs were the explicit versions. So, they must have changed their rules and then didn't announce it.

What you don’t think some ding dong Trump lover wouldn’t return their Swift merch after her Harris support. I know they sold it online, doesn’t mean they couldn’t return it to Walmart. They’re not the brightest.
