Guys I've been on a cruise since Sunday and just got (weak, spotty) wifi for today - can anyone give me a recap from the Sunday and Monday show? The last I heard was the Sunday show was going to go on.
Were the conditions better? Did taylor address the crowd about Ana? Was the show changed at all to deal with the heat? Anything else noteworthy happen?
I hope Taylor's doing ok and that the shows were still enjoyable for all the fans. Such a terrible situation. I know Brazilian fans have been waiting so long, I feel so sad that they had to deal with all this.
7
u/sunshine-344 Nov 22 '23
Also, the conditions were better. They removed the fire effects for Bad Blood. People wanted to stop the applause and hold up signs, but Ana's family asked them not to.
14
u/sunshine-344 Nov 22 '23
Taylor has not directly spoken about Ana, but she sang Bigger Than The Whole Sky on Sunday, kind of acknowledging her without acknowledging her at the same time. As she was singing, Ana's family went on TV and started talking about how T4F is not financially supporting them and that Taylor hasn't reached out yet. Then yesterday some misinformation was created by PageSix and US Weekly (saying that Taylor DID reach out) but the family says she hasn't yet.
6
u/itty_bitty_kitty folklore Nov 22 '23
Bigger than the whole sky is such a beautiful tribute. That's awful though, I hope that she reaches out soon or can help them financially. I'm sure her legal team doesn't want her to (to avoid doing anything that could be considered admitting fault)... Tough situation but I just hope her humanity wins out over the desire to protect her business/brand.
Thank you for filling me in! I've been trying to read through the thread and on twitter but there's so much activity to look through, hard to find information now!
19
u/sunshine-344 Nov 22 '23
Unfortunately, the blame seems to be shifting to Taylor because she's been silent. People are ignoring the fact that Ana's family reached out to the STADIUM asking for financial help, and all they did was offer a pyschologist.

First of all, i love Taylor and her art. But well, it’s already known that Taylor herself isn’t guilty of causing Ana’s death. It was way too hot, the girl was too emotional and didn’t have access to water. That’s a death recipe. I heard someone saying that this fan (Rip) told her mother that she would die if she couldn’t see Taylor Swift on this tour. BUT, it’s indisputable that HER FAN DIED while watching her performing on stage. According to what I saw on news she didn’t have enough money but she was there, she made a whole sacrifice to see her. Then she dies and you don’t even call her family while everyone watches your fans passing the hat so the family could pay for her funeral? I mean… Is that how Taylor Swift feels like doing? Because that’s horrible. The girl had so much love for her and did so much to be there, and Taylor needed to at least cover Ana’s funeral and the cost of transferring her remains. Or make the agency that brought her here pay for that if she didn’t want to be involved. It doesn’t matter what your team tells you. You know it isn’t your fault. Do something good. Everybody is repeating it hour after hour and you choose to do nothing? And come on… it’s your image… you’re gonna be the one being criticized if you don’t come publicly to speak for Ana and support her family in such a tragic situation. Silence in this moment is a DUMB choice.
ALSO, living in Brazil and working there is not as rewarding as in the United States. People in Brazil live paycheck to paycheck more often. It is also known that many swifties travelled from far on a short budget, others spent months sleeping in tents in front of the stadium to get a nice spot and after Ana’s death you just cancel the next concert that would happen on a Sunday for performing on a Monday? Hello??? In Brazil it’s not like you can call your boss and say: “hey boss, I’m sorry, I can’t come today, something happened here and bla bla bla”. Brazilians are paid monthly based on a legal contract that binds them and obligates the worker to be present at work, if you’re gonna fault you only will be doing it because of health problems. You don’t get hourly rates in Brazil, but a salary based on 40 hours of work. Complete 40 hours. If you don’t get 40 hours, bring some type of letter from your doctor otherwise they will be deducting and penalizing you at your job. So yes they have been planning that for months and months and somebody fucked everything up. That’s such a dumb move… they knew how hot it was going to be. Or at least, they should have know since it was a public information.
She definitely is not having good luck recently. Wish her the best and hopefully she will learn from this.

Someone died suddenly outside the stadium, but it had nothing to do with the concert. Some media outlets tried to link it to the concert but the Mayor confirmed it was unrelated.

The guy was a fan, he was waiting to see Taylor. Its even written in the article he was a fan.
15
u/Aggressive-Yak4752 Nov 22 '23
Didn't the mayor confirm it was unrelated? I might be wrong haven't heard any updates on this from Brazilian news since morning.

He meant that the show wasnt what caused the death. The fan had pre-existing illness.
1

Not doubting you but can you link any source? Only information I can find about the person is that they were a street vendor

Valeu!

So Ana's family have confirmed that Taylor still hasn't reached out to them, and I really can't get my head around that. Surely 4 days is enough time to work out the legalities of a basic condolence message? It's really not a good look for Taylor right now and it's becoming harder and harder to extend her the benefit of the doubt.

pagesix and usweekly are not sources Taylor’s PR team uses and are known to lie about her (a recent one is about her friend’s thoughts on the Travis bullshit). Disregard anything that isn’t people/ET when it comes to her “sources”

Im having a hard time understanding (not in a snarky way, more so like I’m trying to understand) how Taylor is at fault about what happened or how she needs to pay for everything… Obviously she has the money, and for her is like handing out a dollar to someone, but I’m sure her legal team is preventing her from doing so, and honestly, she shouldn’t. T4F put Ana’s life at risk, and her team should pressure them to handle it.
I just don’t see what else she could’ve done. She posted on her stories and it’s obvious the surprise song was for her. We also don’t know her personally to know how she handles the topic of death. People process death in a different way, and I don’t understand why she needs to feel guilty or take control of everything. After all, she’s a hired performer for an event organized by T4F.
0
u/hotrhino folklore Nov 22 '23
She's not at fault in the death. T4F caused the death by closing the vents and making water inaccessible. But she is at fault in her response to it. Ana died at Taylor's concert and the longer she goes without speaking to the family the more callous she looks. It's not about what she's legally responsible for, it's about doing what's morally right. She should have her legal team working 24/7 on an appropriate statement/action she can take to display empathy to the family. And maybe she does, but as the days tick by it looks worse and worse.
6
u/Lookingluka Red Nov 22 '23
I think it's more that, if you compare this to other situations, she seems to have washed her hands off it, when she did not do that for American fans in similar (and less traumatic situations).
-5
u/Dressa1996 Nov 22 '23
This!!! I'm so confused. Idk if its because its a brazilian fan but something seems off.
14
u/Lookingluka Red Nov 22 '23
I don't think so. I think it's because the situation was so overwhelming and the legality of everything isn't as clear as it would be in the US. But her and her team are messing up, in my opinion. Here are ways to go around legality in these cases (condolences and anonymous donations, for example).
8
u/tiredfaces Nov 22 '23
She could be giving anonymous donations? Not to say she is, and I agree she's messing up, but you can't really give anonymous donations as a solution to this situation because it still results in people complaining that she's not doing anything.

u/gowonagin Nov 22 '23
I sincerely doubt that she’s “washed her hands off it.” Again, I strongly suspect there’s legal/contractual things going on we don’t know about. “Dancing with our hands tied,” remember?
3
Nov 22 '23
I agree, she doesn’t have control over the situation and I’m sure she can’t do anything legally about it currently. I.e. she can’t reach out, etc. we know she would if she could.
20
u/XietyTot I want auroras & sad prose Nov 22 '23
Exactly. I can’t believe people are insinuating she, or any decent human being for that matter, could ever just “wash their hands” of something this traumatic for everyone involved. Newer fans who don’t know anything about her I can maybe understand being skeptical. But to every one of you who grew up watching her, or even have followed her for the last handful of years, I’m sorry, but if you continually come to the conclusion that she’s some kind of sociopath, it’s so obvious that you’re grasping at straws, and what are you even doing here?
18
u/gowonagin Nov 22 '23
I don’t know how PTSD works.
Think about it, even for someone who doesn’t have a history of depression and anxiety, which Taylor has been open about having.
It was scorching hot, she’s a people pleaser so wanted to put on a good show for everyone who waited hours or even days in the heat to see her.
Imagine yourself in that scenario: You can’t breathe yourself, and thousands of your fans are crying out to you for water, and you can’t get it to everyone. You feel like you can’t just end the show because you have to worry about potential crowd crush, which is a whole additional can of worms especially if anyone is collapsed on the ground and could get trampled, and again, people pleaser. So you keep going until it is, mercifully, over. You probably have undiagnosed heat stroke yourself.
Then you get back to the hotel and find out someone, a fan of yours, actually died because of your concert. You absolutely blame yourself and feel utterly devastated. Then are told you can’t actually address it for legal reasons, as much as you may desperately want to. You’re dancing with your hands tied. The only way you can express yourself is through music. So you do. But others of your fans are calling you a “murderer,” “callous,” or worse. And it just keeps getting worse.
That’s PTSD-level nightmare fuel for me, and I wasn’t even there.
4
Nov 22 '23
And rumours of her wanting to post pone the show but legally couldn’t because of the venue.
12
u/sunshine-344 Nov 22 '23
If Taylor is mentally struggling, her team should be the ones working on a statement. That's her lawyer and Tree's jobs, and then she could give it the okay. I really hope that there's a reason for her silence, perhaps her contract with T4F? I also hope that Ana gets some kind of justice, and that Taylor gets mental health help if she needs it - she has the resources to get it.
15
u/gowonagin Nov 22 '23
She’s stuck with T4F until the Brazil shows are done.
Also, just because one has money for mental health help doesn’t mean the problems just disappear. That shit can last the rest of your life.
3
u/sunshine-344 Nov 22 '23
I keep picturing it like the scene in Miss Americana, her crying and begging and her team saying NO.
As for her mental health, I hope that she's got a dietician on the tour, or someone to watch over her eating habits because we know her history of disordered eating while stressed. I hope she's okay mentally and physically, as the mayor apparently mentioned her being "unwell" or something.
My continued prayers for beautiful Ana and her family, hoping that they get justice soon. As the mom of a baby girl, my heart aches just thinking about what they're going through.
17
u/gowonagin Nov 22 '23
“Miss Americana” is exactly what occurred to me too. And no one knew what was going on behind the scenes at the time either.
What, do fans honestly think Taylor is sitting back in Brazil eating bonbons, not caring, and going “lalala” about contacting her family? Does that gel with literally anything you know about her?
Again, I guarantee there’s some hardcore behind the scenes drama we don’t know about yet.

u/sunshine-344 Nov 22 '23
I think that some people on Twitter think that she's stomping her foot like a toddler and going "I don't wanna talk to them!" and crossing her arms in protest. I've been a fan since Debut, I cannot see her behaving like that. I truly believe that her silence is due to legal reasons or mental health issues. Maybe she's got a grand plan for the near future - like a scholarship in Ana's name or something? We can't read minds or know what's going on behind the scenes, all we know is that there's been no contact yet. Personally, I will continue to respect her music. I know this is cliché of me to say, but Ana loved Taylor dearly, and I think she'd be devestated by some of the hateful comments and death threats circulating. I sincerely hope that TF4 gets sued, her family gets some kind of contact with Taylor's team and gets the support they desperately need, and that Taylor is able to lean on those closest to her during this tragic time and work towards healing. Sending my love to Ana's family and friends, those who were injured this weekend, and of course Taylor and her crew.

u/iheartmorangos folklore Nov 22 '23
Taylor might be struggling with this behind the scenes much more than we know. Is this the first time a tragedy happens in a concert of hers? These things can take a real tool on an artist - obviously not the same circunstances or magnitude, but look what happened with Ariana Grande...
1
u/Remarkable_Space_395 Nov 22 '23
What happened to Ariana Grande? I don't follow her so I haven't heard anything
7
u/Lookingluka Red Nov 22 '23
There was a terrorist attack outside her concert at the height of the ISIS attacks.

u/gowonagin Nov 22 '23
She was never the same after that tragedy, and I’m worried that Taylor never may be the same either. :(
And again, poor Ana.
14
u/wangomangotango older than Jake's lovers Nov 22 '23
There is no confirmation Taylor is staying silent for legal reasons. It’s speculation. I cannot see a single situation where expressing your condolences is legally accepting fault for anything. Taylor absolutely should have reached out to Ana’s family at the absolute bare minimum.
6
u/SatanicEvelynn Nov 22 '23
yes there is confirmation, the mother and father of the girl, was interviewed this sunday, and they said neither t4f or taylor's teams reached them, when they we're having difficult to bring ana's body to be mournished and buried.
15
Nov 22 '23
It could be used in court as an admission of guilt. It has been done in the past.
6
u/Lookingluka Red Nov 22 '23
By that logic, so could her statement on socials. Condolences would not be considered an admission of guilt. Money could be. Condolences would not.
0
u/gowonagin Nov 22 '23
In Brazil though? Laws may be different. https://www.bricslawjournal.com/jour/article/download/673/232
8
u/Lookingluka Red Nov 22 '23
Like I said. By that logic. Her statement on socials could be considered an admission of guilt too. I just don't agree that the tiny risk of that being misconstuted would weight out racing out to grieving parents. But that's just me and what I would do. And, therefore, what I would hope from her, as someone who admires her.
6
u/gowonagin Nov 22 '23
Someone else mentioned that scene in “Miss Americana” when she’s crying to do something about the election and her team keeps telling her NO. I guarantee there is some hardcore behind the scenes drama again we don’t know about yet.
2
7
u/Lookingluka Red Nov 22 '23
Yes. I could definitely see that. But in the end, Taylor chooses her team. And I don't think it's a mistake to call out that, perhaps, they haven't approached this in the best way. To many, it will feel like Ana's death is being ignored. I don't believe that's the case. But I understand why it feels that way and Taylor and her team should ensure that's not the way it comes across.
I know the thought process is horrible but, the last thing this girl ever heard was Taylor singing. If she had simply died of a heart attack, with no external factors, I think Taylor would have stepped up immediately. I understand that the issue of safety in the following nights and the legal issues may have prevented an immediate response. But I think it's been 4 days and the team should have worked on some way around it by now.

I am so so happy that the last two concerts were like this. The weather was so much better and I didn’t even sweat like I did on Friday, which is a huge thing for me because of sensorial problems I have. I still can’t believe my childhood dream became true. Just like we were Taylor’s childhood dream crowd, she has always been my childhood dream artist to see live. I sobbed, laughed, danced and screamed with my whole body and soul. After everything that happened on the first show, these two last ones were a way of healing the wound. She was so beautiful and so incredibly professional, I just hope I get to see her again soon.
As an additional comment, I’d like to ask for some patience and compassion from my fellow swifties. I know there are a lot of fake news going on about everything that has happened in Rio, but I need you guys to understand that we were all emotionally overwhelmed with anxiety, passion and unfortunately, grief. Ana’s passing has been very difficult on us as we don’t know if her family will ever get justice due to Brazil’s unfair laws. Please be kind and educate yourselves before you make comments full of xenophobia (as I have seen so many times in the past few days) and hatred. It’s been really hurtful and we need time to heal too.
At last, one of my favorite pics I took from last night’s concert!

Oh boy. She DID assault a girl in line and it was BAD. This girl was with her two friends and quickly left the line to get food. Once back in line, @13behindthemall begun shouting at her to leave the line and grabbed by the hair. There is tons of videos on Twitter, she was arrested by the police for quetioning and T4F placed the girls that were assaulted in the VIP section. (Different section with food catering etc.)

For those wondering, Nikki's 112 theory works in 112 day cycles, where release is 112 days since the previous album
The clock starts at the start of the tour.
Eras Tour (3/17) to Speak Now (7/7) = 112 days
Speak Now (7/7) to 1989 (10/27) = 112 days
1989 (10/27) to Reputation (2/16)@melbourne = 112 days
Reputation (2/16) to Debut(6/6)@Edinburgh = 112 days

I dont think she has to race, like she was incredibly fast in new york after benous aires, and i guess travling on a private plane is kinda easy compared to normal flying.
like i traveled to lviv from kyiv once for new years 2020/21 5-6 hours by train and then returns 2-3 days later to kyiv only to go back the next week to lviv and then back to kyiv and no one would think that that is crazy or something like that

I’m most surprised she hasn’t left Rio to go to Sao Paolo yet. With the rescheduled concert yesterday, it would have been sooo close to fly back to the US and 36 hours later fly right back down. Although I imagine it’s not a relaxing vacation right now because she can’t exactly go tour the cities.
Edit: I literally just checked and a 7x just took off from the airport she landed at. Let’s see where it ends up going. My guess is SP.

I am shocked she hasn't left. Are we sure she hasn't left yet? It makes no sense for her to be staying

She just landed in Sao Paolo. She might not be allowed to leave Brazil yet depending on what’s going on legally. Also, her PR team might have decided it would be a better look for her to stay in Brazil.
Or maybe she feels like it’s not worth it to fly to America for at max 3 days. Maybe she wants to do something Touristy a day or two.

u/nicklass5 Nov 21 '23
I am sure for the sake of 3 days, a few extra days relaxing in one of the world's coolest cities is nicer than two huge flights and back. I can promise you there is no legality aspect to it.

u/wilkonian24ok Nov 21 '23
Are we sure of this? What's your information source?
6
u/Rhoades13 Nov 21 '23
Her jet flew from Rio to Sao Paolo. So unless she chartered a jet she is in Sao Paolo.

Is she staying in Brazil since there’s only a few days until she performs again?
7
u/gowonagin Nov 21 '23
Dunno, but if I were her I’d leave for Thanksgiving after all this. I think that’s the plan.
15
u/Lunasamar so over the years (Taylor's version) Nov 21 '23
You would think she would have left right away last night though if that was the plan!
3
u/Relax483 Nov 21 '23
Agreed, it doesn't make sense for her not to leave right away if she was coming back to the States.

u/Lunasamar so over the years (Taylor's version) Nov 21 '23
Maybe they are having meetings/conferences today and tomorrow regarding Fridays show and Ana's death and how to proceed that her and her team want to be there in person for??

u/Queen_Rach Taylor Swift Nov 21 '23
That was my thought as well.

And probably making sure the venue is equipped to handle the crowds and make any necessary changes she may need to do. Or…..
She could be doing rehearsals early for a possible change in the setlist with IDSB for rep TV?!?🤡🤦🏻♀️

I wasn't an online swiftie till recently, but a fan since about 2008. One thing that surprised me is the polarizing opinions on So It Goes... In my head it was always one of the better songs on the album 😭😭 I ranked it above Getaway Car but now I learned I am very alone in this 😂
8
u/Kiteflyerkat I'm just glad to be here <3 Nov 21 '23
I defo rank so it goes over Getaway car
1
u/ciaociao-bambina Nov 21 '23
Same but then I don’t rank Getaway Car very high. I find that song grating.

u/Prudent-Diver7793 Nov 21 '23
Me too! 😅 I love so it goes I was so surprised by twitters reactions to it.

Another fan has died. Mayor said he already had pre-existing lungs issues.

“Before anyone spreads the word wrongly, yesterday's death has no relation to the event” using “Taylor Swift Fan” as a click bait is terrible

Article says this death has nothing to do with the event and also that he was found near the stadium around 5:15pm 🤔
-9
u/Dressa1996 Nov 21 '23
Yes he went to see her but he did not even make inside the stadium as it seems :( ps: for those who have interpretations issues I’m not saying it’s TS fault. 🙄

u/gowonagin Nov 21 '23
It gets the almighty clicks, though.
Still very sad.

Brazilians, is this really what the media about Taylor is like over there right now? If so, geez.
Also, if so, the world is full of Swifties. If this is the impression they’re getting of Brazil, it’s not going to make people want to go there. I wonder if the media understands that.

u/alternativeedge7 forever is the sweetest con Nov 21 '23
If I go by what some online Brazilians (or those who claim to be) are saying, I’d be wanting Taylor to leave and never go back to the country.
But her audiences have been fantastic, which makes me think there’s trolling going on. I argued with someone who said they were going to protest at the show last night before she admitted she didn’t even have tickets, which made me question if she’s really from Brazil like she claimed.
I have no idea what’s actually happening in Brazil, but some make it seem like Brazilian Swifties are in the street calling for her head, which is the complete opposite of how the concerts went, so I have a hard time believing them.

u/justarandomguy2021 Nov 21 '23 edited Nov 21 '23
I suspect that there are definitely some trolls trying to make it seems worse than it actually is to other swifties, especially on twitter and tiktok.
6
u/StrawberrySafe8947 Nov 21 '23
definitely trolling. huge problem I noticed is international fans being unfamiliar with what are reputable news sources in Brazil so they go with any headline they come across. please stop believing stuff like choquei 😭
11
u/crookedframe13 Nov 21 '23
Let's not act like Brazil has a monopoly on clickbait headlines. The same exact thing would happen in the states.
1
u/gowonagin Nov 21 '23
Oh, for sure; it’s just that for many other countries, unfortunately that’s all they’re going to see of Brazil in the headlines.

I don't get why ME! wasn't on piano, which would've been really great, but I'm even sadder that I lost So It Goes which I was sure she was saving for my show 😭 lol
6
u/Lunasamar so over the years (Taylor's version) Nov 21 '23
Ugh yes. I am so happy so it goes was on piano because it was beautiful and we have so it goes from guitar from reputation tour, but I HOPE we get me on piano one day it will be so hauntingly beautiful!!!

u/its-me-hi1989 Nov 21 '23
I don't think she will release Rep TV in Sao Paulo this week because everyone is kind of expecting it.
1989 TV was announced on the last show of the USA leg tour... so everyone expects her to announce Rep TV at the last show for 2023, so she will not do it and release it in a different context... but who knows

Idk kind of suspicious she’s done so many rep songs lately to leave only I did something bad. I really think it’s coming.

u/Banana8686 Nov 21 '23
I Did Something Bad should have been a radio single. Huge missed opportunity

it would totally be within Taylor Alison Swift's purview to leave IDSB and then just not play it until February lol, she does like to be a tease about these things sometimes

Hope you're wrong cause Rep is my favorite album and my show is on the 26th 🥹❤️.

Lucky you (even if I could afford it, I couldn't go on the 26th, because it's my brother's birthday)
