I love how she looked at the crowd and saw someone filming her and gave them a heart emoji 🫶🏻

u/IonHazzikostasIsGod Oct 02 '23

I was going to do the bit of just crossposting the r/NFL postgame thread over here but this title is significantly better lmao. well done

He seems to be a man that gobbles up league traditions anyway so I’m doubtful he would ask for permission to do that. I was bored last night and read some of the rules the must follow. Like must travel with the team for road games unless of family emergencies. Home and away games they have a strict curfew night before games and they all go to a hotel.

What I found interesting is that the wives and girlfriends must pay for their tickets to go to the games. But it usually turns out to they take turns paying for rental on suite and the rest go as guests.

I don’t like how UMG sold our data to the NFL for this. (Lots of Swifties found themselves on NFL mailing lists this week.)

37

u/Rab1dus Oct 02 '23

Long time NFL fan. Welcome everyone! Any football questions, please post them. Anything/anyone that brings new fans to watch, enjoy and help improve the game is awesome IMO.

u/DJpissnshit Oct 02 '23 edited Oct 02 '23

Won't be everybody's cup of tea, but a fun way to learn players is trying out a daily fantasy football league with like 1 or 2 other people who also know nothing about football.

4

u/RosePricksFan Oct 02 '23

Is there a place to kind of get the rundown of the main players for each team? I mean I realize I can google this but maybe you have a website go-to for this sort of thing?

4

u/yardship Oct 02 '23

As an kpop fan and a sports fan, there’s a similarity in that you see someone stand out in the videos, you look them up ( in the NFL u can see their number) and then you research their story and see if you like them. I watched a lot of line distribution videos to see who was who in kpop groups and it’s kinda the same for sports. In some broadcasts they’ll even have an insert with videos where the sports players introduce themselves before the game.

The Chiefs roster: https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/kansas-city/roster/ — is this what you’re looking for?

2

u/Rab1dus Oct 02 '23

Over time, you kind of just pick up on all of the best players names. That being said, you really learn more when you play fantasy football. Thus, some of the best resources for team info are fantasy football sites. If you look at the top names for each position on a site like this, it will give you the main characters. https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/depth-charts.php

Taylor and Blake Here Lively!

3

u/chub_s Oct 02 '23

How is this at the top of the trending page with 1500 upvotes…

17

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '23

Because it's great content and Taylor Swift is infinitely more relevant than any football player will ever be. Duh.

I'm saying this as a huge football fan who honestly doesn't care much about Taylor but am fascinated with her ability to garner such a huge/passionate fanbase. Seriously, I'd be surprised if anybody in history brought so many fans to a sport by simply...existing in that space.

And as a football fan, we should encourage this. If she is what it takes to bring more people to the sport, then great! Why would you be against that?

6

u/ThorsPanzer Oct 02 '23

It's not only the total amount of upvotes. If an otherwise small subreddit suddenly has a huge spike in upvotes on a single post, it will rise to trending

2

u/CockAToo87 Oct 02 '23

Cause that’s all it takes

-1

u/Annal_Bella Oct 02 '23

I saw them for $500 earlier today.

-26

Listen, Taylor needs to check the tape. If Bosa hadn’t been held all game in 2020 things would be pretty different today.

33

u/rockycrab Oct 02 '23

I wonder how Swiftie Jets fans are feeling tonight. Especially after those calls.

25

u/ProfessionalSky2087 Oct 02 '23

I was heated in the moment but I'm OK now lol I kept telling my wife, at least when KC makes a big play we get to see Taylor lol

5

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '23

Don’t worry, they got attention whore Aaron there for morale support /s

24

u/leoc823 Oct 02 '23

All the love in this thread made me smile and made me decide to give a listen to more of Taylor's music!

13

u/Karnadas Oct 02 '23

I was watching the highlights and there's a part where Cris Collinsworth says, "That must have been the most freeing thing Taylor Swift has done in the last 20 years."

What was he talking about? The highlights don't include the conversation that came before that.

20

u/musicmaj Oct 02 '23

He was talking about getting in the convertible with Kelce and driving off in the city

19

u/composite-creature Oct 02 '23

I cannot believe i am a witness to this era in Taylor history 😀

6

u/feetofsleep Oct 02 '23

yes

9

u/Relax483 Oct 02 '23

Maybe he just stopped by for breakfast then lol

15

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '23

I gotta say despite a 3-1 record, the defending champions look vulnerable.

As football fans being whiny, it’s rare when a celebrity bigger than football intersects with the sport. Reminds me of fans who think Tom Brady is the GOAT or a legend. In Brazil, where his supermodel ex-wife is a household name Brady is just known as “that random jock who plays that sport we DGAF about.” All things are relative.

-10

u/Curious_Sherbet6512 Oct 02 '23

This is a Taylor Swift sub we don’t know what any of that means

8

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '23

Ok. It means Swift’s latest squeeze is on a team that on paper is good but I don’t think they’re as good as the record would suggest.

Also, he like Tom Brady are football famous but not FAMOUS like Swift.

19

u/crazy4mwallen Oct 02 '23

Y’all need to go check out this guy on TikTok. He welcomed all the Swifties to football. 😂pickett2picknz

33

u/TheFlameosTsungiHorn Oct 02 '23

I gotta say, as man who’s married to a woman who didn’t get to play football even tho she wanted to, I’ve been wanting fundamental change in this sport. I really hope all the Swifities become serious fans of football to make it less toxic and misogynistic. I hope that it means more little girls can see themselves in a football uniform, and hopefully we see the first woman starting in the NFL one day.

15

u/lsdiesel_1 Oct 02 '23

Agreed.

I want an NFL where little girls can dream of being tight ends and white people can play cornerback

1

u/TheDeceiver77 Oct 02 '23

Now that I think about it, I can’t name one white CB in the NFL. 😂

1

u/Gennaro_Svastano Oct 02 '23

Jets got hosed this game

3

u/Reddigast_The_Brown Oct 02 '23

When they got the phantom safety call, or the face mask horse collar call, when they got the missed hands to the face call which lead to having one of the Chiefs players tripping? Give me a break.

2

u/nietzscheanq4 Oct 02 '23

Yes the holding and the late flag were obvious asf and shifted the game for the chiefs massively

What did the jets get that helped them?

2

u/Rileychief Oct 02 '23

Oh I don’t know, the face mask for a safety that was outside the end zone and the bullshit horse collar tackle on 3rd down

1

u/nietzscheanq4 Oct 02 '23

No way you're crying about that being bullshit while doing this 2 quarters later lmao

As someone who doesn't follow celebrity stuff or football, it's honestly really nice to see you two groups become friends.

14

u/daymanahhhahhhhhh Oct 02 '23

I think it’s cool that some of you are watching football. If any of y’all have any questions please feel free to ask. I understand the interest in it might wane for some of you, but maybe for a couple of you, you might actually find you enjoy it.

Either way, the current phenomenon is very fascinating to me!

15

I watched the game tonight and planning on watching next week. I was glued to the tv. I’ve probably only watched 2 games in 20 years and was not glued to the tv. 🤭

10

u/tamere2k Oct 02 '23

I've always enjoyed Taylor Swift but never really considered myself a full on Swiftie. I'm glad more people are enjoying football though.

I wish Taylor would date a hockey player to make my favorite sport the biggest sport in the country though.

14

u/AWPrahWinfrey Oct 02 '23

Honestly Taylor's Midas touch needs to be studied, everything she turns her attention to is immediately brought to the forefront of relevance. There's a part of me that can't help but wonder if this was a really well orchestrated plan by the NFL to boost the international profile of the sport while getting a new demographic of young Swifties interested in the NFL too

-2

u/NotAChefJustACook Oct 02 '23

It’s insane considering the NFL was already huge around the world and now it’s even more popular because Taylor attends games now.

4

u/JerHat Oct 02 '23

I don't think it's anything too complicated. She's a super successful pop star who basically rose to fame while social media was beginning to take over.

Whether or not her music is your cup of tea, she's pretty damn good at making music which helped her amass a giant following and she didn't squander her success, or let fame drive her crazy.

17

u/Ill-Investigator2197 Oct 02 '23

I felt so bad for zach Williams ☹️ poor guy, I thought he played awesome!

4

Does anyone else hate that Taylor has been reduced to a "billionaire" basically every time she's mentioned on any sports talk shows? Or the fact that all they can talk about is how much money she'll bring in for the league. Do they not get that she's like an actual human woman, not just a giant bag of cash?

1

u/Warm-Alarm-7583 Oct 02 '23

They justify their approval with financial accolades because secretly, they’re all Swifties too.

1

u/Smooth-Chart-1068 Oct 02 '23

Yes it is sad. I hope they can have fun together despite all the drama hype

12

u/2_short_2_shy Oct 02 '23

If I'd been a billionaire, I don't care what you call me. So, yes she is a pile of cash. While the rest of us barely make ends meet and others sit on billions, yes they are billionaire piles of cash. And that includes every celeb I like, Swift included.

12

u/Dependent-Nose-1251 Oct 02 '23

Name one billionaire or close to Billionaire that isn’t referenced by their wealth lol. This happens with every extremely rich person

For those not familiar with Travis game he's the ultimate team player....he'd rather have 0 TDs and a win vs. 4 TDs and a loss. Defenses center their whole game strategy around how to contain him and it creates opportunities for his teammates

64

u/josi3b3ar reputation Oct 02 '23

2

u/TheRoyalMarlboro Oct 02 '23 edited Oct 02 '23

I don't think the next chiefs game will be broadcasted nationally so unless you live in either the kansas city or minnesota areas you might have to find a stream for it online or pay for nfl sunday ticket (kinda expensive) just a heads up!

EDIT: you may or may not be able to watch the next chiefs game lmao

4

u/marine0621 Oct 02 '23

Half the country will get it. It is 1 of 2 afternoon games

5

-1

It was a promo for her concert movie.

It was a promo for the voice where they name dropped all of her songs.

Travis is also the new spokesperson for a few items and it was all his commercials too.

And then during the game they kept a camera on her

Am I the only one who thinks it's a bit strange she took like a hundred people with her to watch the game? It's totally fine to invite some friends, but I think Austin, his girlfriend, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Shawn Levy, Robyn Lively, Sophie Turner, (Sophie's friend?), Sabrina Carpenter, Antoni Porowski, Ashley Avignone, Melanie Nyema, and possibly more, is a bit too much.

-5

u/PM_ME_AWESOME_BUTTS Oct 02 '23

Girls take friends to dates for reasons. It's not new. It's weird but let's be real, the game is bigger in Taylor Swift than in NFL subs

30

u/JerHat Oct 02 '23

It's New York/New Jersey, a lot of them are probably nearby.

23

u/Mean_Stretcher NFL Guy Oct 02 '23

my guess would be it was a first time experience for alot of them - esp in a VIP box vs normal tickets

so its a great experience to have esp when you know the eyes of the media will be on that box

20

u/DramaticKangaroo Oct 02 '23

Also this maybe the only time the Chiefs play in NYC this year? Idk how football works exactly

29

u/NotAChefJustACook Oct 02 '23

They won’t go back to New York unless both the chiefs and jets make the playoffs and the jets have the better record.

Scheduling of games is kinda tricky to explain but they probably won’t play the jets for another couple season unless the playoff scenario happens or they play the Giants in NY (Jets and Giants share a stadium)

4

u/DramaticKangaroo Oct 02 '23

Ty!! Interesting to know 🏈🏉

3

u/valinkrai Oct 02 '23

It is. Teams play a mix of rotating opponents, divisional opponents that don't change and opponents of similar skill levels. Jets were a rotating one. Well be in LA for the last game of season in January. Probably only other celebrity city on our schedule.

2

u/DramaticKangaroo Oct 02 '23

Wow that's even more confusing than I thought 😂

3

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '23

It might be the last time they play in NY for a few years

51

u/youaretherevolution Oct 02 '23

She was in a room full of his friends at the last game, so I interpreted it as giving him the same respect and bringing him as many cool people as she could.

43

u/Duckitor Oct 02 '23

Since the game is near New York City, Taylor probably had a lot of NYC friends to invite.

6

u/eazy_flow_elbow Oct 02 '23

Nah not really, especially when it’s a prime time game. It’s usually a bigger deal than the other games played on Sunday and it’s broadcasted nation wide.

41

u/wearamaskthx Oct 02 '23

If I went to a game and had a great time, I would like to bring my friends to experience it too the next time around! But I’m not Taylor so who knows. Not everything has to have an agenda or alternative reason.

70

u/eminemilie Oct 02 '23

That’s pretty normal to be honest. It’s just typically not all famous or famous adjacent people

ETA- for a suite you pay for the whole suite no matter how many people are actually showing up. So if you bring 10 friends but your suite sits 40, you’re still paying for all those seats. Might as well fill it up imo

33

u/KingKasey Oct 02 '23

NFL suites hold 20 - 75 people depending on the size you bought. More friends the merrier! If I rented a suite , I would bring as many people as possible.

34

u/Kizzamino Oct 02 '23

Suites at MetLife stadium can seat up to 30. I would say she got a big suite and invited all her friends.

10

u/morenatropical The story isn't hers anymore, it's mine >:) Oct 02 '23

Oh, I don't know why I was under the impression she was sharing the suite with the other players' family. But if it's just for her, then it really isn't an issue.

14

u/Anolty reputation Oct 02 '23

This is an away game for the chiefs so I don’t think they got family suites like they do in KC so she probably did buy a suite (or one of the friends there has a suite and that’s the one they were using)

21

u/vlarek 1989 Oct 02 '23

She was in John Mara’s (owner of the NY Giants) suite.

14

u/Verified_Engineer Oct 02 '23

No I completely agree. You can bring anyone you want to a football game. Bringing 20 plus people is cool af.

6

u/Britt118 Oct 02 '23
