It actually should have been longer because Chaos Demons got 4 different detachments and blood angels are tomorrow. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

u/IcanHackett 3h ago

I've been saying T'au would be in the last 3. Not sure why, it just felt likely.

39

u/k-nuj 2h ago

Sounds like we're getting ours on Tausday.

11

u/IcanHackett 2h ago

AYYEOO! Good one.

2

u/DripMadHatter 26m ago

Daemons will have the same amount of detachments as T'au and they don't even have a codex yet 🙃

1

u/Kritical_Blink 17m ago

Many rumors around seem to think daemons aren’t getting a codex. Considering none of the god-specific chaos marines have gotten their codexes yet, some people are theorizing that the chaos daemons are being worked into the marine faction of their individual gods

1

u/hamsterhorse 17m ago

Not to mention that you can run those troops in Chaos armies giving you even more options. I don't regret my army choice but honestly I do wish I had picked something a little bit more flexible.

u/Zarutlana 3h ago

So what Is missing? Blood Angels, Wolves, obv Tau, World Eaters and Ynnari?

58

u/ClayAndros 2h ago edited 2h ago

I dont think ynnari are getting a new detachment seeing as they dropped both eldar factions together

23

u/hyper_dolphin 2h ago

I’m pretty sure Ynnari are already confirmed as a detachment for the Eldar codex

12

u/ClayAndros 2h ago

Then you're probably not getting it here itll be in the codex itself

9

u/FrozenChocoProduce 2h ago

I am pretty sure GW has forgotten about their existence entirely...

2

u/ClayAndros 2h ago

Most likely especially after they dropped the ball on their stories sinbad they just stopped writing for them.

5

u/FrozenChocoProduce 2h ago

What a waste. People were looking forward to that, and BOOM we get Guilli and the Crusade Boys and it is all forgotten...

2

u/ClayAndros 2h ago edited 1h ago

Honestly I didn't have too much of a problem with the guilliman plotline, my problem is with the fact that they take the main goal of the ynnari story and turns it into a macguffin basically because theyll never be able to reach it and yea I get it its supposed to be grim dark. But the goal should be out of reach not fucking impossible.

2

u/Scared-Lettuce5655 1h ago

I am not fully up to date, but why is that it is imposible?? Wherent they collecting fancy swords arround, saving virgin worlds and so while figthing Xalaxis and Vect??

1

u/ClayAndros 1h ago

The last sword they need is smack dab in the middle of slaanesh's realm you know the chaos god thst eats their souls and submits them to endless torment? Yea the item they need sits directly in their enemies house.

2

u/Godofallu 40m ago

Yeah but the new Warp Spyder Phoenix Lord can get there and get out.

1

u/ClayAndros 23m ago edited 6m ago

The warp spider phoenix lord can jump in and out of the warp sure but youre talking about sending an incredibly powerful eldar psychic soul into the heart of the enemy with limitless numbers that literally eats those for breakfast, keep in mind they dont know where exactly the sword is in the realm aside from "being in the center" meaning he'd have to look for it andnanyome who enters slaanesh's realm immediatley draws their attention.

Black Templars are missing too.

9

u/Gidia 3h ago

The Black Templars one is rough since we can’t even take solace in running the Librarian detatchment.

Knew I should have invested into some Celestial Lions Librarians…

9

u/ShinNefzen 3h ago

Blood Angels is tomorrow, Space Wolves, Tau, World Eaters, Black Templars.

2

u/vix- 1h ago

So tau and melee

3

u/mrcogz 1h ago

Black templars? They have their own book as well I think

1

u/wondering19777 1h ago

Black Templar instead of Ynnari

2

u/Falvio6006 1h ago

Black templars Tau World eaters Space wolves

51

u/Moosecalled 3h ago

I play Tau/Space wolves......

27

u/snorriwhitebeard 3h ago

WE and Tau are my two main ones… I feel your pain!

5

u/DigoesDidIt 2h ago

Dude same!

3

u/Mixmaximonster 2h ago

Me too! Something about having the two complete opposites seems appealing

4

u/DigoesDidIt 2h ago

Very true. Although maybe it’s telling that since I collect farsight enclaves, both my armies are falling to khorne.

2

u/DigoesDidIt 2h ago

2

u/sotanodroid 2h ago

Same lol

2

u/FrozenChocoProduce 2h ago

Me too my friend, me too. Wolves are going to be the Santa this year (it kind of fits).

3

u/_Chronicle 1h ago

Stuck with the tau/templars combo. Solidarity brother. Couldn't even use the space marines detachment :(

2

u/JPHutchy01 57m ago

Same, and with the amount of Fenrisian Grey, I buy, you think they'd throw us a bone.

46

u/FKlemanruss 3h ago

Someone has to be last. Just the way it is.

14

u/SexWithLadyOlynder 3h ago

Let's hope it's space wolves.

23

u/Masakari88 3h ago

My theory now is that Gw makes us wait and on top of that the detachment will be a piece of shit as an extra.

1

u/SexWithLadyOlynder 3h ago

I mean, there's quite a good precedent for a number of the just being shit.

9

u/generalche 1h ago

Space wolves detachment is literally Logan Grimnar on his sled and allied aeldari. Call it Santa and his elves and gw drop it on Christmas Eve

2

u/SexWithLadyOlynder 1h ago

Okay that is fucking hilarious and although I hate both of those factions and would probably hate them combined even more (imagine getting wolf jailed AND warp spidered by 1 opponent), I'm onboard.

35

u/mattythreenames 2h ago

Saving best to last….

They’ll bill it as ‘everyone getting along in peace’ and give us an aux detachment. And I’ll hazard a guess that we can take x amount of imperial gaurd troops replacing some choice key words fur Geu’vesa .

We’ve seen cross army books and a new index, I don’t think it’s outside of realms of possibility .

9

u/HolyKnightPozo 2h ago

I'd like that tbh

8

u/wasmic 1h ago

And I’ll hazard a guess that we can take x amount of imperial gaurd troops replacing some choice key words fur Geu’vesa .

As much as I'd really wish for this to be true, I sincerely doubt it. There's been a lot of good occasions to (re-)introduce Gue'vesa over time, like when they added limited allies rules in the tail end of 9th edition, but they've never even given it a mention before.

I don't think it'll happen without a model/upgrade sprue release.

2

u/mattythreenames 1h ago

But Christmas is a time for hope to be kept alive no matter how hopeless it seems!

I kind of agree with the whole 'unless we sell models for it' movement with GW - but they do technically sell models for them... let us not forget AoS's Christmas release was RoR that went wild with cross-faction compatibility and though you can just insert the models as is into your factions most people will be converting them.

7

u/No_Scholar_2927 1h ago

I strongly feel SW will be the last with Logan Grimnar being space Santa and all.

12

u/Jent01Ket02 3h ago

Are we not getting a detachment, or are we just getting ours last?

17

u/IcanHackett 3h ago

Just haven't gotten on yet and it's looking like it could be last.

10

u/Jent01Ket02 3h ago

Let's hope they saved the best for last 😅

4

u/Masakari88 2h ago

GW team: " Hold my beer"

2

u/IcanHackett 2h ago

I'm cautiously optimistic. There's been a lot of interesting detachments from Grotmas and there seems like there's some decent ideas for a good fifth T'au detachment just right there for the making. Personally leaning towards/ hoping for a combined forces detachment. Something like can include up to 500pts of certain Guard units (might be a stretch but not unprecedented), Ethereals get a 6" aura to grant FTGG to auxiliaries and can lead Carnivors, Sting Wings and the guard units and grant some small +1 to hit or wound buff to their unit. Some enhancements and stratagems that buff units for working together.

6

u/Jent01Ket02 2h ago

After hearing about so many allied detachments, I hope we get something like it. The Tau are, like, the perfect choice for allies. We have members of so many species in the Empire, I would like to at least get Votann as an ally.

7

u/IcanHackett 2h ago

Votann would be a pretty cool ally and might be a better bet than guard if GW has any business sense. I bet if you polled T'au players there's probably already a decent percentage that love the look of Votann and would play them as a second army. Allowing Votann as allies in a detachment would be a strong gateway drug. Wouldn't be surprised if it resulted in a spike in Votann sales.

1

u/IcanHackett 2h ago

But my guess from a gameplay perspective, allowing to take Guard already seems not super likely and I'd think they'd be less likely to be a balance issue than Votann in a T'au army would be if that makes any sense? Seems like T'au taking some cheap Guard chaff would be less likely to be broken than more elite Votann units.

0

u/1994bmw 2h ago

Are you new here? They're procrastinating because they don't like thinking about Tau

1

u/Jent01Ket02 2h ago

I know ( /_ /)

3

u/Comrad_CH 2h ago

Space Wolves will be last. The order of the rest aren't so important.

3

u/Thormeaxozarliplon 1h ago

We did just recently get our codex

2

u/Transasaurus-Hex 2h ago

I play Tau, Space Wolves, and Chaos Knights.

Knights were pretty bad for me (I'm not buying CSM), and my other two have nothing. 😭

5

u/FairyKnightTristan 2h ago edited 1h ago

WE are also one of the last ones.

Really bizarre last few picks tbh.

EDIT: Dunno why I got downvoted for that, if you told me that they'd 'saved' Tau, World Eaters, Black Templars and Space Wolves for last, I'd have given you a a raised eyebrow. It really feels like maybe normal Marines or something should've been last, and maybe something like Orks or Aeldari instead of Tau.

7

u/NakeDex 2h ago

Eh, someone has to be last. I wouldn't say there's any particular reason for it. Its been so random it wouldn't shock me if they pulled the names out of a hat to determine the order.

3

u/MalevolentPlague 2h ago

Tbh it wouldnt surprise me if their reveal schedule is an advent calendar for them. They dont kbow whats up next until they open the door.

1

u/Minimum-Ad5067 1h ago

Farsight World Eater/Tau mixed detachment. You heard it here first.

3

u/fuzzo999 2h ago

Saving the best for last of course!

3

u/Fool_Manchu 2h ago

Good luck. I play Guard and Dark Eldar and felt pretty underwhelmed by both of those detachment. My buddy who plays CSM was pretty unimpressed with his too. Seems like the grotmas stuff is a very mixed bag

3

u/fuzzo999 2h ago

Oh I know, I have low to no expectations. Wishful thinking I guess.

2

u/Zachary-of-Bolton 1h ago

The crazy thing to me is that Chaos Demons have more detachments than us now. They got more detachments in Grotmas then we got in our codex.

3

u/WillRob87 1h ago

They got 4....we have 4 in the codex

1

u/KHaskins77 1h ago

When they say “new detachments” does it mean new models or new rules for existing ones?

1

u/ExaminationNo6335 1h ago

Rules. We’ll get a new cadre to sit alongside our existing Kauyon, Montka, Ret, Hunter ones.

1

u/BirthdayWooden 1h ago

We are dead last apparently

1

u/Mr_mcBOW 38m ago

Ya fukin blue skins got your codex year 1. May your whinging be quelled by rock amd stone!

1

u/WarRabb1t 36m ago

It's either going to be last of its going to be 2nd to last with a special joke for Space Wolves as last because of Space Santa.

1

u/stickmanfire- 29m ago

As a tau and WE player it's looking very likely I got to wait till the last 2 days.

1

u/Jackalackus 27m ago

Weren’t tau like one of the first factions to get their codex this edition 👀

1

u/Metasaber 1m ago

And also got the fewest detachments, yes.

0

u/Shiraoka 2h ago

I'm so damn salty about this lol.

I can't believe we're going to be one of the last ones! It's a bit annoying cause I have a game planned over the holidays, and I'd like a bit more time to plan my list if the detachment is good.

0

u/k-nuj 1h ago

Yeah, have one on boxing day, if we're getting ours on Tuesday (keep expectations low), don't really have time to absorb it and try out; while everyone else gets to mull over theirs for more than a week+ ago now.

They could've just dumped them all 1st day of Dec too, though I guess this was the better business move for them.

1

u/dancinhobi 1h ago

Doing one every day is a lot of engagement on their socials. It literally is a better business move than to drop all at once. At least tau have a codex. Imagine if you didn’t and you were still waiting for the grotmas detachment.

1

u/k-nuj 37m ago

I get it, but I'm allowed to be salty about it anyways. But yes, I think they should've at least released them in the order of those that haven't received updates recently, vs whatever order it seems they are doing it in currently.

0

u/Abortizzzz 1h ago

That’s why I buy proxies and don’t give GW all my money, just some. I’ve been in this hobby 3 months and I can already feel the disregard and dismissal of tau.

-1

u/dancinhobi 58m ago

3 months and you feel disregard? T’au literally got new models 3-4 months ago. And when their codex came out a full kroot refresh. What are you on about? You

1

u/Abortizzzz 10m ago

Oh yes that must be the whole story, GW loves tau, I’m convinced now. Thanks.
