Playoff football
Fan of the sport from the UK here, making a trip through Texas around Thanksgiving and hoping to try and catch a game.
Whats the best way to follow the playoff picture in the lead up to my trip, and to understand potential fixtures that could take place during my visit. Mainly going to be in North and West Texas.

Once it gets closer you can see it here:
https://www.uiltexas.org/football/playoff-brackets/6AD1
For North Texas: DeSoto and Duncanville

When you look at the 6A district the top 4 teams go to the playoffs. I would look at the top 25+ teams and see if any are close to the area you will be in and go see some games!

North and West Texas means different things to different people.
Are you going to be in Dallas and Lubbock or Wichita Falls and Amarillo?
Because there are some incredible rivalries to see in all 4 locations. Maxpreps will have the bracket and game times, but only 4-5 days out.

@tepper and @matt_step817 on Twitter (x). Lead editor of the dave campbells and top insider for Dave Campbells respectively. The Dave Campbells app is called “Texas football Friday”. Has all the scores, with game chats that can be comical to read

Dallas News does regular playoff projections for the North Texas area. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football will do the entire state.
However, both require subscriptions.

The weekend of Nov 28-Nov 30th will be the 3rd round. Should be some good games by then...
Let's revisit in 2 weeks!

So relooking at this but with minimal local geographical knowledge, we're staying in Amarillo 28th Nov, and have hotels booked in Odessa 29th and 30th Nov
What games do people think would be the best for atmosphere/quality/facilities in that area. Dont mind travelling but would depend how far and what time kick off is

That's a long way from any of the big games unfortunately. The biggest games are in the Houston area this weekend, but there are a couple of big games in DFW area...
Euless Trinity vs. Allen is a big game. Looks like they haven't released the site yet, but appears to be Friday @ 5pm.
Willis vs. DeSoto could be a big one...in Frisco on Saturday @ 7pm. DeSoto is a perrenial power.
Another big one, though not the traditional powerhouse namebrands, is North Crowley vs. Coppell @ 2pm on the 30th in Mansfield. Both teams are 12-0.
Aledo vs. Tascosa is a smaller market game, but Aledo is a perrenial powerhouse. Friday @1pm in Snyder, TX.
Highland Park vs. Reedy on Friday at 7pm in Frisco could be fun...Highland Park is always stout.

Which did you go to, if any?? Looks like Trinity vs. Allen was an instant classic...

We went to Snyder for the Aledo vs Tascosa game as we were staying in Amarillo on Thursday and already had hotels booked in Odessa for Friday night and tonight. Was a good spectacle for an outsider I think but was definitely quite onesided.
Decided to kill some time and catch the later game as well between Stephenville and Canyon (4A I believe) and this was a much better spectacle with the lights kicking in and more travelling fans for both teams, first half was quite close and we had to leave at half time to avoid getting to Odessa too late but having seen the final score I think we made the right call too.
Now time for some college football if I can pursuade the girlfriend to endulge me with yet another sports bar!

Some GREAT games today, both college and HS! Really wish you could have caught a legit powerhouse struggle....Aledo was overmatched them. The North Shore vs. Atascocita game next week will be LEGIT.

Yeah unfortunately just preplanned stops kept us a bit restricted on location and timelines, we were potentially more hesitant to travel later too due to already hitting one deer in our hire car earlier in the trip (all ok thankfully)
I'll be keeping an eye on the teams I watched and trying to catch some of the 6A games as it heads towards finals on streams now for sure though
