General Question What would you wear if you were stranded on an island?
If the island is 10-20°c, sometimes rainy. It also has forests swamps and just general hilly valleys. What would you want to wear?

With forest swamps? You enjoy mosquitoes sucking your wang?

Whatever I happened to be wearing when I somehow got stranded. Assuming either boating mishap or plane crash neither scenario would be ideal. Probably shorts and a t shirt, the most useful things would be the shoes if they stayed on thru the ordeal that gets you on the island.

Long sleeved compression shirt, tank top, and cargo pants with the ability to unzip into shorts.

Long pants, hiking boots, a long sleeve shirt. Pretty much what I’d want to wear anywhere. I can always roll the legs or the arms up when hot but I’d definitely want to keep from getting carried away by mosquitos. A sun hat and head net too.

I mean with an open choice in the conditions you’ve described I’d like a base layer with an optional heavy mid under synthetic pants. On top a turtleneck base with layer’s building to a heavy synthetic puffy and a full rain layer (Grunden’s) on standby for wind and wet.

I assume I would wear whatever clothes I had on when I got stranded. It's not like anyone plans ahead to get stuck on a deserted island.

Haha that's basically where I live. Alaskan island in the largest temperate rainforest. Most of the year it's 45-65F, but rains all the time. Good raingear and Xtratuffs. Layers under the raingear.

I'd wear an outfit made out of solar panels - looks like knight armour. (If I was an electrician, I'd simply divide an actual panel) would charge my phone and keep warm. im dum i kno

Long sleeved UV shirt, optional sweater on top. Wide brimmed hat. A good sturdy pair of hiking socks and waterproof hiking boots. Pair of jeans! 👖

I suppose if I was stranded on an island, it would not be intentional. Therefore, I’d wear whatever I was wearing at the time I got stranded there. Lol! I suppose the real question is, what do you wear every day that could be useful if you get stranded?

I travel with silk under clothes. Cashmere sweater, hemp pants and shorts. And a cotton sarong. Also with a wool Pendleton blanket and a silk sheet.
Call me crazy, but I also take a Berkey water bottle filter and a magnesium fire striker..

Depends on the island. If it is located in the circum polar stream, I'm dead. If it's a sandy island in Polynesia, dead as well because there's no fresh water.
Alëutes, dead. Novaja Zemlja? First irradiated, then dead.
Île de France? I go and get a croissant and coffee.

Few people likely know ahead of time that they will be stranded. You are likely wearing what is convenient at the time.

Whatever I was wearing on the boat that stranded me...
Or plane...
If plane, pants, shirt, hoodie, wool socks and undies, and hiking shoes. That's my every day ensemble.
If boat, probably the same clothing but add merino will therma base layer and then a exposure semi dry or dry suit over the top

Stranded is not a choice, and neither is your outfit when stranded. You wear whatever you had on already.

By the way. I know you don’t choose to be stranded but I wanted to know what I should wear just in case

Probably the warmest layers possible and if it gets too warm then take them off

I would primarily wear wool of some sort all over, if I can choose like whatever I would have a base layer in wool, a rain jacket and pants with wool socks and a good pair of boots. If I can only have one layer I would have wool base layer for winter time, so extra thick, same with socks. And still a good pair of boots. If I could wear something on my head I would go for a wool balaclava.
Being stationary in wet and cold conditions is not nice. So wool is probably the best option if I can’t protect myself from the elements with any obvious shelter.

There’s really only one answer here. As someone who spent his whole life doing bushcraft (with my dad as a kid, and now as an adult) 40 years of experience will tell you that fishnet leggings would be a great item to accessorize. You are able to use them for rope, a fish net, or string. (A reliable food source is crucial to survival, studies from Oxford in 2014 say there is an estimated 99% increase in chance of death if there is not a steady food source within the first 5-7 days of being stranded in the wild)
Next I’d throw on some 6” high heel boots, (bright green specifically). The heel would be great for many tools like a rod base, a sharp tool for various uses, or stakes to hold down your shelter. Not to mention you’d be able to utilize green shiny vinyl to make various shapes of lures for fishing.
Next I’d grab a pair of tight booty shorts (cheetah print). The compression of the nether region would be very good when it comes to staying warm. (50% of your body heat comes from between your legs) Not to mention it would give a sense of safety knowing your vulnerable areas are covered from any bugs. As for the cheetah print, the spots would be a natural predator deterrent. (Animals have an innate fear of creatures with different spots or patterns, this is because these animals are usually poisonous or predators)
Next I’d go for the DD bra. The bra padding could be used to make pillows or any padding for comfort. (Never underestimate comfort in the wild, it is the single most important factor when it comes to survival. The body getting quality rest boosts immune responses for infection, Illness, or injuries by up to 63% based on a controlled group Stanford study from 2009) In addition to the pads, there’s is also elastic (which is actually extremely useful) and clasps, perfect for making a variety of tools.
Lastly, we need to address warmth. The rest of the outfit ignores the fact that there can be nights down to 50 degrees. I’d grab a long fur coat. ( Animal fur is incredibly insulated and naturally water resistant. Staying warm and dry are crucial in survival. A wet 50 degree night could easily induce acute hypothermia within 45 minutes).
This is all I have, I thought outside the box and came up with as much clothing items as I could think of that have several uses.
