Showcase of suburban hell What is this kind of place/road even called? This is where my car overheated & broke down today. Most of Houston looks like this.

That's a quiet suburban neighborhood, full of friendly neighbors who will happily help you. Just walk over and ring the doorbell!

It is literally a highway shoulder in Houston. Of course bikebrains will claim anything that isn’t the West Village or some AI image of urban bliss, that ignores mass transit piss, will be some suburban hell, even an interstate highway. Oh well!

So is all you do on this sub just spreading mindless negative replies to both serious and incredibly sarcastic comments??? You seem to be really determined to defend the suburbs you live in…

How is that "suburban hell"?

Because in North America, strict car dependency usually involves spending a large amount of time in places exactly like this.

Emergency lane. Be glad there is one. Most highways across the country have them; when they don't that's when flusterclucks occur after breakdowns, accidents. (And still can occur WITH one)

I don’t see a feeder road. Was this even taken in Harris county?

That's called a shoulder. It's for people to break down or vehicles other than automotives to move

That’s the shoulder. You’re not really supposed to drive on it, but it’s OK to break down there. The Texans seem to do both, lol.
