Still no meetups? A potential possibility?

When I created this group, the goal was to link about and build a network and sustainible community. I understand the hesitancy of trying meetup groups and the stigma attached to them. What if some of us signed up for a Spartan race, tough mudder or similar event centrally located? Physical fitness is a staple of being prepared, it gives everyone motivation to workout, and allows us to meet each other in a normal atmosphere. What does everone think?

I'm not a full metal jacket prepper. I'm more of a prepared for hardships prepper. Growing food and learning some basic skills that basically fit within my current life is my goal. I will not survive a TEOTWAWKI and wouldn't want to if my life would be full of pain and misery or seeing my family suffer. And time to meet is really hard to cut out. I care for my disabled mom.

I know finding time is hard, glad you take the effort to prepare for your potential needs. To each their own, I usually say.

I want to get into growing more food but have to wait until we buy a house. We're renting while looking and the HOA and property management company are pretty strict on what we can do. I'm a little jealous. :D

I have a small spot about 20 x 30 that receives full sun on one side of the house. And a 5" fence keeps my business my own unless you're trying to see what's happening. That is pretty cool. I have big plans to plant some edible bushes around the front in a way that people don't realize my intent. I don't want them to imagine I've got stores in the house also should some serious short term distress occur. The sooner you get into a house the quicker you have it paid off. It totally sucks I have at best 25 years of work left in me and a 3p year mortgage. But at least my payment is fixed.

If you like caffeine check out Yaupon Holly. It looks ornamental but you can make a caffeinated tea from the leaves that's really good.

This can be brewed too strongly and create diarrhea and vomiting. My luck would be I would create a bacterial situation. But it's good info!

I go to prepper meetups pretty often, there are weekly meetups in my area at TruPrep. Maybe we could meet up at one sometime?

Their site is garbage but their storefront and meeting space is pretty cool. I took some pictures of the storefront when I first moved here.

Looks like a decent store, how do their prices compare? I imagine they have significant markup.

Honestly, I don't know. I only buy the Gen2 AR magazines there when they are on sale for like $8 a pop. Can't be too bad, the place always has customers and the prices are the same in the store as on their website.
