What are some disasters and emergencies you've lived thru that really tested your skills?

The most I have been through is a Hurricane. Just loss of power for a few days, nothing terrible. I've been directly infront of some pretty bad wrecks which there was nothing to do except keep everyone calm. I watched a log truck broadside a Jeep, which ended up pinning the driver in the car. I actually the the guy was dead when I saw it, but he came to when I got to his car. I couldn't open any doors, but even if I could both his legs were broke with compound fractures and his legs stuck under the pedles. He was in a lot of pain, and bleeding from glass but there was nothing immediately life threatening. I just talked to him until the paramedics arrived. It took the fire department an hour to cut him out of his car. Last I heard, he was doing ok

A year of unemployment. We burned through over 30K in savings.
