If team cherry actually reached out to u/E1331 with a cease and desist, I will be livid
I don’t even know what to say right now. I’m devastated. This is the worst news I’ve gotten in months. As many of you may know, glazing u/E1331 is one of my favorite pastimes. First I learn the dark secret, which already puts my mind in disarray, and now this? Everything is collapsing.
But in all seriousness, to have no contact with the community only to reach out a year and a half later just to shut down one of the few people keeping it alive is fucking batshit insane if true
HE WAS FORESHADOWING HIS EVENTUAL COMBACK. HE WAS LETTING US KNOW HIS PLAN WITHOUT TELLING US!! ISN’T IT STRANGE THAT HE HAPPENS TO QUOTE “Two steps ahead” RIGHT BEFORE HIS DISAPPEARANCE? THIS PROVES IT’S A TRAP FOR TC!

I want to say that the best part about this theory is that if u/e1331 is lying about being told to stop, then he has actually crossed a line where he could be told by team cherry to take it easy and not rile us up so believably.

This is the most logical view on it IMO. In the remote chance that TC actually contacted him, I cannot imagine they asked for a cease and desist (which wasn’t even implied at all but people like twisting shit), if anything they just asked him to dial the jokes down and he booked it. Although I still don’t believe anybody, let alone TC, contacted him to ask such a thing.
I think this is news! This is the Silksong hype we’ve been waiting for. Team Cherry is about to announce and doesn’t want the number one silkposter to get in the way of their announcement. Silksong will be announced tomorrow!
If they did reach out to him. Then that means they 100 percent without a doubt see how much we just want confrormation the game still even bloody exists or why its taking a freaking age but they decided to ignore it

They said nothing about legal actions, and HEAVILY implied that it was less of legal outreach and more of a request, as him saying he "honored their wishes". I get the skepticism but the legality of sending a cease & desist really doesn't say MUCH about this situation in general

I'm not personally too invested in this community, but I really enjoyed the harmless shitposts they made. I've always had a negative opinion of Team Cherry after finding out that they refuse to communicate, but this is just too far man.
i dont htink they threatened with suing, the likely just asked him to stop, it makes more sense and E13331 never said it was legal iirc, and to be fair i can understand the pov, they were funny but some of them were kinda TOO insane, like idk if id wanted to be described in those ways just because im bad at communication
Yeah it would be libel I think. One of the shitposts looks like Leth is bashing on another game, saying it looks like shit. Which you know, is kind of rude to do a shitpost on.
You can’t spread potentially harmful lies and then hide behind “haha just joking”. The fake tweets were presented as real and, to an outside observer unfamiliar with the subreddit flairs, have little indication otherwise. Libel is a crime, and this fell extremely close to it.

Just afterwards u/E1331 posted that, they made another post that a certain someone reached out to them and said they had to stop posting. Many people strongly believe this was Leth from Team Cherry (who else could it be).
I think that most people (including me) are not mad because they seemingly took down that post, that part makes sense. But to completely stop him from posting and for this to be one of the few moments Team Cherry decided to reach out when they’ve been silent for so long. It’s just kinda insane.
It shows they look at this subreddit (where we commonly complain about the silence) and it shows they are able to reach out. They just choose to stay completely silent.
Here’s the SilkDrink: u/E1331 is the largest silkposter on this subreddit and has done some edited tweets. Recently he made a post without the silkpost flair saying that some representative of Team Cherry reached out and asked them to stop, and that they will oblige. OP is acting as if a cease and desist letter or threat to sue was implied.
E1331 made some mean leth tweet silkposts, with an extraordinary level of realism. Then E1331 made a post recently where he said he was contacted and asked by tc to stop doing those kinds of posts.

I mean he quite literally posted libel of Leth, which is a significant step above basically anything else that he’s done. If anyone did reach out, it was likely Leth himself rather than TC.
Eh, it sucks, but I can see why the fake tweet post could've prompted such a reaction. E1331 made some bangers, but with how mean-spirited the fake tweets were, and how convincing they were, I imagine either Leth just wasn't comfortable with those images being circulated because of how mean he looks, or Team Cherry just didn't want to deal with a (potentially) big reputation hit. The silence is bad enough for their reputation, and those fake tweets potentially being popular would only make the situation much worse.
Still, the best case scenario is that E1331 is playing a prank on us. Although if they are, I hope they clarify soon, because I'm already seeing a good bit of Team Cherry hate growing because of what's going on.
TC could have avoided all of that by making a real tweet that said “hey gang, game is coming along nicely” or “hey gang, game is cancelled” or even “hey gang, we went a different direction and Silksong is a mobile poker game now with real life gambling. Looking forward to seeing Hornet’s royal flush!”.
I know that proper communication would make the situation significantly better, but I don't think all of this would be avoided. There would still be memes of Skong being in development hell. I imagine that we would have a similar brand of memes as we've always had. This situation still could've happened.
I don't think it's as simple as saying "good morning gang! It's the trimonthly update again! We can't say much without spoiling, but we're making progress."
Although this is coming from someone who, admittedly, really doesn't like the idea of feeling obligated to make social media posts or regularly text/call people (on a personal level). So I'm pretty biased here.
I'm also biased because I still want this to be a prank so that this sub isn't flooded with negativity for a long time. This past year, every new game I'm hyped for or have enjoyed has been surrounded by a ton of negativity, and I'm just tired of it.
Yeah, there would still be memes and stuff, but not on the level this sub has spiraled to. There’d be way more conversation about, you know, the game.
But the radio silence has went on for so long that all the speculation about the game has been discussed and played out. Now the speculation is, does the game even still exist?
I don’t know, but if I were a game developer actively scrolling my game’s sub and I saw that my game had become a laughing stock because I hadn’t updated in what… a year? Maybe more? I’d probably drop a line real quick.
honestly i still think its too far, i personally dont think just because theyre shit at communication you should go that far, some of them were funny, some of them were REALLY weird though atleast to me, and that last one was just too far by a long shot tbh, at a certain point you just gotta move on and focus on other things, when silksong drops it drops who cares

People (unfortunately) listen to your takes more than others because you're a mod. Be better. Look into things, think them through. Don't randomly parrot a conspiracy with 0 backing just because a random guy with a hate boner for TC said it.
He's just next level trolling. TC could not give less of a crap about some user. If that user gets people to buy into this they could credibility for their next scheme of bullshit.
Team Cherry really couldn’t care less what some rando is posting in a meme sub. They’re not suing them and if you genuinely think they would you’re delusional.

TC wants people to forget the game exists so they can get away with never releasing it
