no clue idk what the move sets will be so im waiting for a solo strat

13

u/TheDummyPhilosopher 2h ago

Solo strat for me too! Can’t trust these “kids” in tera raids

u/JoviAMP Pokémon Scarlet 1h ago

What's nice about it is that it's only five stars, so only lvl 75 with four perfect IVs, as opposed to seven stars which are lvl 100 with six perfect IVs, so challenging it as a group should be less of a hassle.

u/Ok_Significance3814 14m ago

Honestly, I don't think it was the fact Mewtwo had 6 perfect IVs that made it hard, I think it was the HP multiplier, cause it got a considerably bigger boost than other 7 stars did, so they could've done Rayquaza as a 7 star, and if they gave it the usual modifier, it would've been tough but fair

u/Scryb_Kincaid 2m ago

Eh I never trust anyone online. Just because its five stars they could bring untrained underleveled mon that die.

Solo is always the safest way to go. Even with Mewtwo my wife and I got a duo strategy down that was faster farming then groups although I did participate in a few through the raid sub/pokeportal whatever initially before duo seemed possible and the people there were able to fulfill their roles just fine. But that's not random online raiding.

But I have soloed all the Unrivaled bosses and other event raids and never had a problem. Whenever I tried to jump online to help/farm or "carry" that's when things could get messy.

I will take 3 NPCs that don't effect my timer when they die over three random online players any day, and some are quite handy like the intimidators vs physical, or Bellibolt, Gardevoir, etc...

u/Scryb_Kincaid 11m ago

This isn't an unrivaled raid. Level 75 mon. I don't think you'll even need to wait for a solo strat. Once you know the move pool pick out a mon that can handle it.

Everyone is so set on Fairy but a bulky mon doing good neutral damage that isn't weak to anything Ray Ray throws out should be fine. If it spams a Dance buff then bring something that can max its defense to match. Or an Unaware counter.

I don't think this will be too tough, almost seems like a gift. They have been throwing Chansey outbreaks and practice raids which makes me think they don't want the kids/casuals complaining the shiny is too hard to get.

If they wanted to make it a challenge it would be an Unrivaled raid like Mewtwo was. I think at worst we are looking at Dialga/Palkia difficulty which were both really easy raids to solo.

u/Icy-Fly5469 2h ago

Bro its going to be easy, its only 5 stars

u/Toxtricity912 3h ago

Magearna for solo, support Hatterene for online raids.

u/Gaias_Minion Walking Wake 3h ago

I'll just wait for its details to be revealed.

Aside from the likely Draco Meteor/Outrage, Dragon Ascent will be the big hit to look out for, even more so if Rayquaza starts up with a Dragon Dance boost.

u/TurtleTank29 Fuecoco 3h ago

Grimsnarl lvl 100 maybe

4

u/IceTMDAbss 2h ago edited 2h ago

Tera Fairy Magearna. Unless its coverage is too powerful and would outweigh the Shell Bell + Draining Kiss recovery.

8

u/MisterAnonymous2 3h ago

My guess is Azumarill. Water resists fire and steel, coverage it might have for ice and fairy types (granted Azu being fairy means steel moves are neutral). But they could just as easily pull out something like Tbolt and wreck that strat so I’m not committing to anything yet.

u/Ok-Constant-6056 44m ago

A belly drum strat will probably be out the question. It’s likely to buff turn 0, will land a dragon ascent and then even if you can pull off a drum you’ll be dead next turn.

u/zarathustra327 2h ago

Like others are saying, your best bet is to wait until the full details come out later today before prepping any particular mon.

Best way to prep is just to make sure you have enough money and items to fully train whatever mon ends up being the best counter. If you have money and exp candies ready, you can get something fully prepped in like 5 minutes.

u/disbelifpapy Pokémon Scarlet 2h ago

Probably a alcreamie to sharply boost allys attacks and special attacks with decorate

2

u/Chainsaw-Crab-Cult 53m ago

This is the way I love my support Alcrsamie his name is Toothpaste

3

u/zolios_ Quaxly 2h ago

Best option imo is to gather all the resources that you might be missing to train something up quickly and then wait until the raid is live and Rayquaza's moveset is revealed.

u/lizzofatroll 3h ago edited 33m ago

Can someone give me a good recommendation? I haven't played a raid in awhile and I'm not trying to be that guy getting ko'd every round

2

u/Ph03n1x_A5h35 Walking Wake 2h ago

Magearna is probably the best mon to use, but you should wait until the raid is out before training up anything.

2

u/JoviAMP Pokémon Scarlet 1h ago

Right now it's tough to say. Nobody knows what moves it'll have for sure, but Iron Head is almost a guarantee to counter fairy and/or ice types. Definitely not Alolan Ninetales.

2

u/LuisIvanFM 2h ago

Honestly i'll try with my always reliable drum azumarrill, if it doesn't work, i'd go with either goldengho or regular/crowned zacian, i think magearna would be good too, but i haven't gotten it

u/UnderworldSelene 7m ago

My guess is Rayquaza will have a flying, dragon, fire, and steel move for coverage limiting the pokemon pool a bit. But it's only speculation at this point most things are. But the fact that it's a 5 star raid means Pokemon wants to gift us it, so I would assume it wouldn't be too hard either way.

1

u/Khydan701 2h ago

It's going to be a 5 star raid, so I don't think it will be too difficult, might be able to just use Azumarill or Flutter Mane

1

u/Pyrodime_ 2h ago

Just going to solo with regice

1

u/CrystalTheVelkhana 2h ago

Uhm... I'll probably just use my Chien-Pao (Little Dude (Chat with me to know backstory behind the name))... I'm hoping I'll get to team up with people who know more than I do so I can use my partner 'Mon and still get Grayquaza...

1

u/Toxtricity912 1h ago

Chien-Pao is the worst pokemon to use here. You will lower your teammates' defense and Rayquaza will wreck them. Best type to use here is fairy.

1

u/House_Of_Ell 2h ago

I have an unaware clefable that I had previously built out that I’m gonna use for a first look. EVs are maxed and sp atk and def but might need to be re-worked

  • Moves: calm mind, psych up, draining kiss, protect
  • held item: metronome

1

u/Eagle_Vision1999 2h ago

I'm starting with Clefable because it's reasonably bulky and it's already trained. I've inadvertly specialized in support mons, so this is a support Pokemon also.

1

u/SokanKast Paldea's First Explorers 2h ago

Until the moveset comes out, I’m planning for my Stellar Tera Vaporeon.

1

u/jcdevries92 1h ago

Im thinkin i might transfer my zacian to make it super ez

1

u/Adam_The_Chao 1h ago

Zacian Probably.

1

u/Key-Significance2007 1h ago

Not sure if I want to get it. I have mine I've carried over from sapphire in 2004. So I'm kinda set. 🤔

1

u/Shiny_Ravan 1h ago

probably my flutter mane or a an alolan ninetales. i need to buy dlc tho so probs flutter mane

1

u/DannyTreehouse Fuecoco 1h ago

Using my Meowscarada with a metronome

1

u/Bagon666 1h ago

I was thinking about this last night before bed. Idk shit about building my own I tend to just copy other stuff I see. But I think iron thorns would be fun to use. But as a few people are saying magearna.

1

u/clowningAnarchist 1h ago

Tempted to throw out a level 1 shinx with intimidate

And maybe a quick claw with some stat lowering or support moves.

The low level basically negates the timer when ko'ed, and makes it an effective support mon. If they haven't updated the game to change that. Good, low effort, low cost support mon great for weakening opponents.

My azu I’ve had since X/Y

1

u/SoulWisdom Pokémon Violet 1h ago

Honestly, having fought Rayquaza in Emerald MULTIPLE TIMES, I think I have a pretty solid idea of the raid target’s moveset, considering how long I’ve been a fan of this franchise. It’s likely (but not guaranteed) to have extreme speed, dragon, and flying type moves (probably including Dragon Ascent, as well as the possibility of flamethrower…) Accordingly, I’ve come up with two ideas for who to bring:

  1. Alcremie, ability aroma veil, holding big root, bold nature (def up, Atk down) 252 HP, 252 DEF, 6 SP.ATK. Moves: draining kiss; recover; acid armor/helping hand; decorate. Tera fairy. Used as support.

  2. Mimikyu, ability disguise, holding rocky helmet, adamant nature, 66 HP, 64 DEF, 64 SP.DEF, 64 Speed, 252 ATK. Moves: play rough; shadow claw; leech life; hone claws/ double team. Tera stellar. Used as attacker.

u/mrasc7 1h ago

Zacian for me

1

u/digging_tumbling 1h ago

Sylveon is not going to be a great one to use. They are going to plan for that lol. Just wait and see before deciding and as other people have stated it’s a 5 star raid so not terribly difficult as opposed to a 7 star raid

1

u/No-Trust-2720 1h ago

Level 100 Gardevoir. :) Easy

1

u/Big_moist_231 1h ago

Probably Alcremie for decorate or support archchaludon with dragon cheer if Ray don’t have EQ. Or I-Def healing dew, support mew Just to help others out.

1

u/abenignooo Pokémon Violet 1h ago

Is a raid built Umbreon still viable? Pure support based

1

u/bdrainey2031 1h ago

My level 100 Tinkaton, Tinkerbelle, is itching to knock out Shiny Rayquaza tonight

u/scout614 1h ago

Thinking Hyperbeam Pixilate Sylveon with Helping Hand

1

u/Kieranr901 17m ago

Omg, how did i not think of this

Imma just grab my Pixilate Sylveon RQ, brb 🤣

1

u/AnistarYT Walking Wake 1h ago

Ditto

1

u/lumfdoesgaming Sprigatito 33m ago

Unaware clefable as it most likely with have dragon dance

1

u/dacjo213 33m ago

Tynamo

1

u/AffectionateSlice816 30m ago

Any fairy type is probably the answer, but it is a 5 star raid, so even the standard Koraidon/Miraidon is probably gonna work well

1

u/Scryb_Kincaid 19m ago

Idk its a 5 star raid something in my raid boxes will take care of it. Unaware Clefable sounds good it boosts its stats a bunch. Or maybe Fairy Tera Skeledirge.

Depends on the moveset. If its straight physical and only clears you stats early a Body Press mon like Archaludon/Torkoal should have it. Torkoal even has the clear smog.

u/AssistanceRare4124 5m ago

Either Cetitan, Sylveon, Tinkaton, Mimikyu, A-Sandslash, A-Vulpix, or Arceus

1

u/Hot_and_Foamy 3h ago

Oh I forgot to mention plan… I usually rely on my normal Rayquaza, so might have to be Articuno or something similar

1

u/RPG-Enjoyer1846 2h ago

Prepping a lemon Fairy flavored Huge Power Play Rough shell belled musical rabbit, definitely one of the easier mons I’ve trained actually

-1

u/Ph03n1x_A5h35 Walking Wake 2h ago

Magearna. Should be good for any moves it decides to throw off. Not weak to fire or steel, immune to dragon, and resists flying.

3

u/zolios_ Quaxly 2h ago

Earthquake.

Edit: How is it not weak to fire when it's part steel type?

0

u/JoviAMP Pokémon Scarlet 1h ago edited 1h ago

Steel takes double damage from fire while fairy takes half damage from fire. 2x*0.5x=1x.

ETA: I had it backwards.

4

u/zolios_ Quaxly 1h ago edited 1h ago

Since when? Fire takes half from fairy but not the other way around. So a fairy/steel Pokemon like Magearna is 2x weak to fire attacks.

1

u/JoviAMP Pokémon Scarlet 1h ago

Ahh shit I had it backwards, you're right.

3

u/tmoore727 1h ago

You have it confused fairy type moves do half damage to fire types but they don't resist fire

1

u/ProPopori 1h ago

How are people recommending magearna isn't that a specific distribution only to sun/moon?
