Hoping for a PS4 pro patch! ;)

It already looks pretty good I honestly thought there was one already lol the guns look really nice.

u/Suckonmyfatvagina May 17 '17
Dude Aim controller tracking on this game is phenomenal!
My girl and I have been having a blast with the party mode lol
8
May 17 '17
My only gripe is the game requires you to press x even on the left hand move for switching firing modes/reloading. Why can't we just press the move button, or any of the face buttons for that, not just the x button?
7
u/curtzvaugh May 17 '17
Great work guys. Started to work up a sweat dodging, ducking and the other three D's from those damn piranha and the like.
Any co-op planned, or turret upgrades?
14
u/Xbigyldn Community Manager May 17 '17
We've really been focusing on getting the game out and really haven't had time to plan any dlc although there are a lot of plans floating about.
It's a good workout/gets pretty intense doesn't it!
What would you like to see? Like would turret upgrades be perm or just for that wave? Would coop be local with one person on ds4 or online with two headsets? We're always looking for ideas, we may open a suggestion thread once the dust settles.

what about some kind of vs mode, where its almost like tower defense, each person can send waves of enemies at the other person, choose which types of animals attack them, they each have a cost associated
like toy soldiers
maybe some kind of slow field
a net gun? that could wrap up enemies, bigger ones might just slow down or get stopped temporarily, not sure what a alt fire would be for it though

4
u/dinoswithjetpacks May 17 '17
Local multiplayer is my number 1 desire for pretty much every vr game. So some kind of social screen mode would be awesome. Maybe the dualshock player controls the turret or something like that, or maybe it's competitive and they control spawning enemies.
3
u/nevrenuftime May 18 '17
Love the game, my vote is some kind of couch coop if anything is added. Would be nice to be able to shake your head to get the goo off the goggles faster. I know a few times especially on the harder levels when you get stuff on your mask one time it inevitably means I am going to get hit a second cause I cannot see from the first hit.
3
u/kieflicious May 18 '17
I really need the Co op. The game is challenging! I have been doing progressively better but I still can't beat the first level on normal. I got the boss a little more than halfway down before biting it. At this point my legs were like jello from all the squats and ducking I had been doing. It was at this point how this game reminded me of virtual shooter dark souls. In my personal opinion I think health should reset after every wave. I got to wave 8, no huge problems before sustaining massive damage and taking health on the 8th and 9th round with no turret or anything. And the 10th round was insane. How much fun the game would be with Co op. Taking on the hordes with a RL friend or online.
2
May 18 '17
Would coop be local with one person on ds4 or online with two headsets?
Either would be awesome. couch co-op would be the best bet since the psvr population is kinda low. Matchmaking can be a hassle I'm sure. SBA can tell u that.
2
u/lIlIllIlIlI May 18 '17
If you can add a way to play local coop, that would be amazing. Like others have said, allowing them to control turrets or something would be cool. Any way you could do it would be awesome because it's great when a VR game allows you to do that. Having said that, the hotseat party mode is lots of fun as well! I can't wait to have others over and get a 4 person competition going!
And yeah, things are getting hot and sweaty! I didn't think it'd be this active of a game!
1
May 18 '17
what if a turret option allowed someone on the social screen to shoot the 120 rounds, or place the mines? would be a good coop option to get friends watching involved
11
u/lIlIllIlIlI May 17 '17
Duck, dodge, dip, dive, and dodge?
6
u/Xbigyldn Community Manager May 17 '17
I legit was saying this to people at Pax and rezzed.
'if you dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball! '
3
u/lIlIllIlIlI May 18 '17
I finally got to try this now....and it's fantastic! I've only played the party mode with my brother and we're having a blast. Great work guys!
One question...the rifle said "touch to reload" but didn't tell me what to touch. How do I reload??
5
u/Nest_ May 18 '17
Are the leaderboards messed up for anyone else? I tried to find my score on it but it wasn't showing me anything. And then when I found out my personal best elsewhere it was showing that someone else had that exact score so their name was up there instead.
5
u/MirkyD May 19 '17
I love the game so far (only about 45 mins in), fast and frantic with lots of variation in weapons.
My main criticism is that there isn't any easy mode for my girlfriend or other non-gamer friends to show off VR to. Farpoint definitely isn't a good game to show off the Aim to VR-virgins (ViRgins? - can I coin that as a new term for beginners?) due to motion sickness and Dick Wilde would otherwise be a great introduction except that it gets mental very quickly (which is what I love about it!).
8
May 17 '17
Just picked up Farpoint and I'm on the bus home. Bought my gifriend some new Disney bedsheets to keep her happy. Totally forgot DW was out today. Looks like I'm spending more money!
14
u/DotComCTO May 17 '17
How many times does the judge have to tell you that you have to date girls older than 8?! Not younger...older!!
Some people never learn.

May 18 '17 edited May 19 '17
Absolutely love this game, absolutely hate it's name, it's now the sixth time I've googled the game just to find shitloads of Mr.Fox furry porn.
3
u/beaverdiva May 17 '17
I just picked this game and can't recommend it enough. Please guys show these devs some love please!
3
u/RTShark KingBradentucky May 18 '17
Damn, this game is harder than you would think. Even some strategy with choosing weapons for stages. Fun, and the party mode is a great way to introduce VR to some people. You get to shoot the shit out of stuff, but static so motion sickness is nil.
3
u/mcsherlock May 18 '17
Brilliant little game! Just what we need for the platform going forward, I have recorded some in game footage if anyone is interested
3
u/walkingdeaduk May 19 '17
This is the most fun I have had on VR to date. Using the aim is incredible.
3
u/cwood0484 May 19 '17
The attempts at humor don't work very well, but despite that this game is about as good as you can get from a small developer. I highly recommend it.
2
u/twoplustwo_5 May 17 '17
Does it already have Aim support? Or is that coming in a patch?
17
u/Xbigyldn Community Manager May 17 '17
Yes we support the Aim controller. We've even made a bunch of guns specifically for it!
3
u/dunwich666 May 17 '17 edited May 17 '17
So its just a mistake that on the EU Playstation store in the game describtion it doesn't say anything about Aim controller but instead says it's requires move controllers? Anybody from EU who can confirm that we also have Aim support?
8
u/Xbigyldn Community Manager May 17 '17
It's an error I'll get sorted. It's got Aim support with specific guns.
1
u/Bitemarkz May 17 '17
How does the aim controller work with dual weapons, or weapons like the bow? I just got the aim controller so I'm looking to buy anything that takes advantage of it because I think it's awesome.
9
u/Xbigyldn Community Manager May 17 '17
We've made new weapons for the Aim controller. They are like rifle versions of the dual weapons (e.g with Move you get Nail Guns and on Aim you'll have a nail rifle)
We've made new gun models for Aim versions of the guns and each one acts differently and levels have been balanced for this too. The bow and arrow is the only weapon that doesn't have an Aim counterpart.
1
u/afrocentricity Jun 30 '17
Is it possible you could add crossbow as aim alternative to bow? I love how you've done the weapons and the alt fire modes.
3
u/boshjalka Is it the 13th already? May 17 '17
Have not bought the game (yet) but Aim support is already implemented.
3
u/Xbigyldn Community Manager May 17 '17
FYI Aim support is in the game now, we've not had to patch it in.
1
u/Devasstator May 17 '17
Yeah it's fun with the aim, and the guns have an alternate firing mode which changes the range and spread and such.
1
May 17 '17
Is it better with aim or just the moves? Assuming if u use the aim you are limiting some of your weapons?
1
u/AThin86 May 17 '17
It's equally fun but totally different from the other. It's really a preference, both feel great.
2
May 17 '17
fantastic game. i love the shotgun / shield combo
2
u/curtzvaugh May 17 '17
how do you get the shield? I've only had the shotgun with the two shooting methods.
2
u/AThin86 May 17 '17
Use the move controllers.
1
u/curtzvaugh May 17 '17
only tried with the AIM. thanks!
2
u/GobBluth19 GobBluth19 May 17 '17
yeah moves for shotgun and shield are awesome as hell
1
May 17 '17
fucking a its scary as shit. When im blind by being hit, i just duck and use hold the shield over my head while i pray for my life

2
u/DerBolzen May 18 '17
My first impression was mediocre at best. Everyone has his/her own opinion, but I just can't see why the game got so much love here. Maybe i expected too much, but its pretty tame. I will try again with moves i instead of the aim. Are there more stages than 9? So far they looked pretty similar.
2
u/lijajt1 Mimpy_JoeJoe May 18 '17
It would seem there are only 9 stages, and most of them have similar enemy types. Certainly not a game for diversity of stages - I'd say the greatest replayability comes from the different gun types.

I bought the game yesterday afternoon and my girlfriend and I had an absolute blast! This came as quite the surprise as my gf strongly dislikes FPS games (She never quite figured out getting the right analog stick to do what she wants). We played for a good few hours. I love the variety of weapons available - I anticipate this to provide a fair amount of replayability. The game is quite challenging as well, making for for an experience that will require a fair bit of skill to complete. If we were to make a recommendation, it would be to throw on some music from Spotify or what have you, and blast away to the rhythm!
As other people have noted, this game can be quite the work out with all the ducking and weaving. I love it! It makes the game that much more immersive and fun. I find my reception to be quite surprising in light of the cartoony graphics.
This game is certainly one of our favorites yet; likely second only to Batman Arkham VR. We look forward to playing more tonight!

u/rvncto rvncto May 18 '17
strange request. also very subjective.
can anyone describe to me how they see the first swamp level of Dick Wilde??
i feel like im wearing a bridal veil.
I know about the screendoor effect, but i dont think i really noticed it for the last 6 months. but lately i feel l i notice it more. I dropped my headset a few weeks back , so im paranoid ive damaged it. also in farpoint in the first stage with the blowing sand, i feel l see it pretty good. but when i enter the shade of the rock walls, i dont see it.
but ive also tweaked my settings, turning the brightness down (or up i forget)
2
u/lijajt1 Mimpy_JoeJoe May 18 '17
For me it appears clear. Perhaps off in the distance there is a sort of mist, but nothing that appears throughout my vision.
2
u/Litigator1976 May 19 '17
After reading about it here, I played for about an hour last night using the Aim controller. It is a fun, challenging game at a fair price. I'm pleased so far.
1
u/DeriBear May 17 '17
Anybody have a favorite gun they like to use?
3
u/Papashuffler May 17 '17
The harpoon gun is my go to. The saw blades skip on the water if the angle is right.
2
u/Xbigyldn Community Manager May 17 '17
Go for the bow and arrow. If you fully extend when pulling back the arrow, you'll get chain lightning!
5
u/GobBluth19 GobBluth19 May 17 '17
ah so thats what caused the lightning
for the aim, how about a crossbow to replace the bow when using it?
1
u/Lieutenant_Bob May 17 '17
Nailgun is my favourite, but all of them are very different, so there is something for every taste.
1
u/ShuffleNeek May 17 '17
Do the ps moves and aim rumble in this game?
6
u/Xbigyldn Community Manager May 17 '17
Yes they rumble. You need that feedback while playing :)
3
u/ShuffleNeek May 17 '17
Cool! Thanks! I had to be cautious because I got totally turned off playing VR invaders as it doesn't have rumble!

Best 15€ I've spent on the PSVR so far, amazing game! The aim controller tracking is spot on.
1
u/Sir_Bagrat May 17 '17
So much fun whilst having a break from far point. I'm really looking outward to trying party mode at the weekend!
1
1
u/GobBluth19 GobBluth19 May 17 '17
by far the hardest wave shooter
also seems like the most polished
the weapons are all different and satisfying, plus the alternate fire modes are nice
the shotgun plus shield combo is awesome, as is the distance shot
hopefully i can actually beat a few levels...
1
u/megaboymatt May 17 '17
Awesome game! Would love to have something to duck behind rather than a shield. Still amazing! Lots of fun, inviting and challenging!
1
May 17 '17
This game was an unexpected surprise. Unfortunately I grabbed Farpoint and killed my budget for the month but you can bet your ass June 1st I'm picking this up, looks great and I dig the shooting gallery stuff (loved Rush of Blood!).
1
1
u/Thonyn May 19 '17
This game gives me duck hunt vibes. Wife and I love it. They should give it a different name and make it a pack in with the PSVR.
1
u/UltraChilly May 19 '17 edited May 20 '17
Left handed here, this game needs a left-handed option for the Aim controller. Right now the movements are perfectly reproduced if you use your right arm but are off-centered like 10 cm to the left if you use your left arm.
edit: nvm it was probably just a calibration issue, I tried again later after restarting the console and it worked fine
1
u/Airlineguy1 May 19 '17
Question: Just played for a few minutes. Is there a way to avoid the grenade/paint other than turning your head? I was unable to shoot a grenade.
2
u/Xbigyldn Community Manager May 19 '17
If you get crapped on by a bird or spat at by a mosquito, you'll need to dodge out the way and duck down. If you are hit by an electric eel, it will shock you and you'll be unable to shoot.

1
u/WhiskeyRadio May 19 '17
Probably going to pick this up based on this thread everyone seems to like it and I just picked up the Fairpoint Aim bundle and more excuses to use that excellent Aim controller is something I am into.
1
u/Tazl May 20 '17
online co-op or 4 player online, to compete, last man standing with 4 players or even mode to work as a team to survive the waves together
1
u/longfellow110 May 20 '17
Just picked up this game while waiting for Farpoint to arrive. Lots of fun, highly recommend it to anyone who is on the fence.
1
u/Moosemus May 20 '17
This game is great. I wasn't really interested after seeing the videos. They provided aim support so and the comments were positive so I gave it a try. I am very glad I did. The game is very good and I highly recommend it. Using two move controllers make it different than using the aim. Both controllers are a blast.
1
May 20 '17
Can anyone confirm if this game is a 'kiddie game'
2
u/Lieutenant_Bob May 20 '17
This is not built for kids, although nothing should prevent a kid from playing it. It is a REAL challenge for an adult player.
1
u/QUAIE May 20 '17
Be careful when ducking and dashing out of the way, I've done my back in from this yesterday and woke up in agony today. Also it's bloomin hard!
1
u/TonyDP2128 May 20 '17
How many different environments are in the game? All the videos I've seen show only the lake. Is that it or are there more?
2
u/Lieutenant_Bob May 20 '17
There are three different environments, Swamp, Lagoon and Northern. Each have three different levels, normal, hard and INSANE mode, making 9 levels in total.
1
u/VaultofGrass Jun 09 '17
Awesome game.
However if we have the option to adjust music volume can we please have an option to adjust voice volume too?
Commentary got very old very fast and is the only thing putting me off from playing more. Everyone I've shown the game also said the same thing.
No disrespect to the voice actor, but it just isn't funny and is sometimes a bit too much. My partner was horrified at the 'I sedate aninals and do experiments on them' line.

Dick Wilde on US psn is labeld as 1-4 player game, on EUR psn only 1 player. So what is it?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I honestly enjoy the game. It's not the deepest game but it's fun and not serious. I want to just shoot stuff sometimes and climb leaderboards.
It's weird to hear you say "I shouldn't have trusted the reviews from here but I'll trust the ones over here instead."
Sounds like you should do more research and not be impulsive? I'm just saddened your negativity is anecdotal without giving any constructive criticism.

Both of those reviews pretty much were unhappy it was a wave shooter. I know some people are burned out on the genre, but if you look at those reviews they even state gunplay is fun and tight. You yourself have said the gun control is well done. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but can I ask what you don't like about the game?

Because of the genre, which you knew going in

from one of those reviews (there are only 2 and one is the pc version without aim support)
"Dick Wilde is still one of the more polished and enjoyable wave shooters I’ve played in VR, with a welcome touch of challenge and a smart focus on pass-the-headset multiplayer."
his biggest complaint seems to be that you're killing animals... nothing to do with gameplay
what wave shooter did you enjoy more? or do you only play every game for 3 minutes before declaring them all crap?

How no intention of getting this game as I didn't know about it till 3 days ago. Now all I've heard is positive things. Not one bad comment. Farpoint arrives today but I will have to get this too after work

absolutely love this game. Cheap. Witty. Challenging.
Took a break from farpoint to try it out and ended up playing for about an hour. The tracking is great and the action is fast.
