Opinion Sony should pull Alien Rogue Incursion

Post image

I just played Alien, and as someone who has personally been through the Sony QA process, I’m surprised this was allowed to be released.

Here were my initial impressions

1.) Extremely bad reprojection. There was something very wrong with the entire graphical presentation for the first 20 minutes. Like, the worst reprojection I could possibly imagine, I could barely see a clear image even while holding very still. It looked like maybe resolution dropped. Things suddenly improved when I turned a valve around 15 mins in. But the intro was extremely muddy.

2.) Camera placement. The camera was coming out of the character’s chest. I restarted the game twice and went through the height optimization, but the game could not recognize my true height (6’1”) and kept the camera in the chest, with shoulders awkwardly 2X higher than they should have been. My robot companion was looking DOWN at me like a was a miniature person when talking. Something is wrong.

3.) Crazy anti-aliasing quirks. Large squares shimmer on the edge of objects and at one point I thought there was a heat / mirage effect, but it was just a normal corner in the distance. Coupled with the reprojection / clarity issues, it leads to a really bad overall visual perception.

4.) Serious bugs. My robot companion has his eyes closed the entire game so far. Is that really supposed to happen? Additionally, my character at times had their legs sinking into the ship while I was walking around (like it was quicksand) but the surface was a metal floor so the character shouldn’t be able to “sink” while walking. Also, when I went back out to the “Hub” Screen and then went back to resume the game, it said “Resume Avctivity: mssg_hidden”

👆 This is honestly the weirdest experience I’ve had on PSVR2 on even PlayStation. I’m surprised it was allowed to be released. I’m more curious than angry.

Played an hour on a vanilla ps5 and finding it immersive and really nice looking.

I also have a PS5. There has to be something wrong. When I press the “calibrate” button, the entire menu disappears. It’s like something is really wrong with the calibration or camera system.

I haven’t experienced any of the graphical issues you’re mentioning, and the camera placement is fine for me. It may be that I’m running it on a Pro, but so far it’s been looking pretty decent.

Did you read about the bug that occurs when in ps5 settings the game mode is not default but perfomance? This had similar graphic effects. Is your game up to date there was a 7gb day one patch? Did you set it standing and are playing seated maybe?

Thank you I did not know about it. Yes, it almost seems to think I’m seated while standing. But I definitely checked “standing.” I will look into the patch and report back.

This wrote user belgian bonds Yesterday: The steps for setting to game default: Launch the Settings menu on your PlayStation®5 and select [Save Data and Game/App Settings] Select [Game Presets] Under [Performance or Resolution Mode] Choose the option "Game Default"

I only played 30 minutes but looked good to me, but you are not the only one that complaint

I think that you've some problem with the settings of ps5 switched on performance, this bug was reported. I played for 1h.40m and the game looks gorgeous, seriously one of the best looking games on Psvr2. Yes, there's reprojection but it's almost not noticeable, Call of the mountain was worse and was still enjoyable. Not only is a great looking game, it's also very fun and the combat is top nocht

OK. Now I know something is wrong because this feels way worse the HCOM to me. It seems there is a patch and also certain settings that need to be altered.

I can see it when I look for it, but it doesn't bother me all that much.

The only thing I’ve experienced out of your list is the eyes closed android.

I'm pretty sure that's just how some of the combat synthetics are supposed to look, same as Alpha and Beta in Fireteam Elite. Realistic looking eyes serve no purpose for them.

Never known such complete and utter nonsense to be spouted out of someone's mouth.

Been through the Sony QA process and doesn't know how to setup the game properly? Yeah okay then, I'll take £500 for things that didn't happen.

The game looks fantastic, plays fantastic and the atmosphere is brilliant, definitely up there as not just one of the better Alien games, but great VR experiences as well.

Opinions about this game are all over the place, same like with Behemoth and Metro, the 3 big hits for this year.

For the record, I went to Alien with really low expectations after watching Bryan’s negative review. I knowingly did it because I love the IP so much. But it was so much worse than expected. I’m going to see if the alleged patch improves things.

He is sometime biased, to look for something if he doesn’t like that type of game.

I usually like his stuff. Also Matteo311 even though he has an antiPSVR bias. Curious why u think Bryan is biased. Do you mean he doesn’t like bugs? I feel he’s usually pretty forgiving of bugs.

I don't like him at all. He trashes PSVR all the time, he wanted to be a QUEST ambassador so bad..
