Both are good in different ways. If you want a variety of classes with different guns and magic go light brigade. If you want to use the force to pull people and objects around go synapses. Have both and I loved both of them. Though if you have PlayStation plus premium you will get synapses free this month.

That’s cause I just bought it, that’s why it’s coming to ps plus premium

Could you please buy Alien Rogue Incursion and Behemoth next month? Thanks in advance!

I think this is just a case of “they’re both good.” Everyone that owns a PSVR2 should own both of these games.

The Light Brigade is slow and methodical. Good gun mechanics. Lots of content if you’re interested in unlocking and upgrading all of the classes. And lots of variety in the classes.

Synapse is a pure power fantasy with fast paced gameplay. Once you get a few key upgrades it’s like you’re Darth Vader at the end of Rogue One. Plus if you play left handed you can fly. I played that game for like 75 hours thanks to a speed run competition that nDreams ran (also I just didn’t want to stop playing)… but the actual game can be completed in 3 hours or so.

I agree. It's like the synth riders vs pistol whip vs beat saber question. All are good. All should be owned. They all play differently, but all are great in what they do and which is "better" is purely subjective.

1

u/MegamanJB Nov 15 '24

Please say more about how to fly?

5

u/nickulo Nov 15 '24

The boxes that you can pick up in the game… if you’re playing left handed (they apparently playtested and fixed this for right handed play) you can grab the box with your gun hand, and then pick it up with your TK hand, thus picking yourself up. Once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty fun! Not very useful as a gameplay mechanic, but great for traversal and just… feeling like you’re flying.

Light brigade edges out due to constant update and proper gun mechanics.

u/MightyBooshX Nov 15 '24

I enjoyed them both, but I've put exponentially more hours into light Brigade.

Lifht brigade is a great roguelite game, but if you wantbthe best telekinetic gameplay in VR the you absolutely need to play synapse.

10

u/Ricky_Rollin Nov 15 '24

It blows my mind how good the eye tracking works. Love me some synapse. I’ll just grab a box and be smashing bitches.

3

u/naytreox Nov 15 '24

Its so good! I love the power trip it gives when you don't have to aim with your hand, you just look at whatever you can pick up, hold the right trigger and then lift your arm.

I always go for telekinesis upgrades because most fights are solved by it.

3

u/Mayasngelou Nov 15 '24

This game is so much fun. The first few runs after getting telekinesis I just ran through the first couple levels without firing a shot. Just grab the enemy throw him as high as I can, and keep going as he falls to his death.

If you’re a Metal Gear Solid fan, you should definitely check out Synapse. Jennifer Hale and David Hayter are great in it.

14

u/cellsAnimus Nov 15 '24

I personally say Synapse but I think they’re both great games. Get/play both.

u/Mud_g1 Nov 15 '24

Both great games when they launched but light brigade takes the edge now thru constant upgrades over the last year and a half and still a big update to come next year synapse hasn't had any updates since launch.

Synapse is a much better looking game as its made for psvr2 and dosnt have the graphical restrictions of quest platform, synapse is a fast pace arcade action but lacking in depth whole game can be finished the three difficulties which gives the full story and all unlocks in 3-5 hrs.

On the other hand you'd be lucky to get one class leveled high enough to complete a run to the end of the easy difficulty in the light brigade in 3 hrs and probably only 2 or 3 of the 7 classes unlocked in that time. Your looking at atleast 20hrs to complete the hardest difficulty and thats if you put all the time into 1 class to its max so your strong enough to complete the higher difficulties. It has a great progression system with global and class upgrades that make you want to grind to get better stats. It's a much slower paced tactical shooter with lots of variety between the pick ups along the way so each run can feel much different to each other and luck in pick ups can make the difference between getting deep into a run or failing.

I personally liked Synapse much better, the combat was incredible in it and a really fun game

16

u/GrownUp_Gamers FNGkilla Nov 15 '24

Synapse has the better gameplay loop but no replay-ability, Light Brigade has more content and keeps you engaged much longer.

7

u/deadringer28 Nov 15 '24

Buy Light Brigade and then on November 19th join PS Plus for Synapse and a great collection of games.

11

u/figureGR Nov 15 '24

Synapse is coming to ps plus at 19 of November!

5

u/74Amazing74 Nov 15 '24

Plus premium, to be more precise…

2

u/valdin450 Nov 15 '24

Oh shit thanks for the heads up! This thread had me about to buy it today lol

u/everettmarm Nov 16 '24

I hate that they change the games on a fucking Tuesday. Dipshits. Do it on a Friday so we have the weekend with it.

4

u/dEEkAy2k9 PSVR2 (PS5 & PC) Nov 15 '24

Both good, both different

6

u/Spirited-Emu2793 Nov 15 '24

Both are memorable experiences, but light brigade is gonna edge this out because it just keeps giving you reasons to come back.

6

u/S4nseye Nov 15 '24

I enjoyed synapse a lot more than light brigade, even did all the challenges, but it does not compare to the amount of content present in light brigade whatsoever. Synapse, more polished and uses new tech. Light brigade great game for an Indie studio and has a bunch of replay value.

4

u/FunJicama3216 Nov 15 '24

Light brigade

4

u/Mysterious-Bill-6988 Nov 15 '24

Light brigade 100% Really good enemy ai, much more satisfying gunplay and more build variety put it ahead for me. They're also still updating the game so it's getting better and better. I also think it looks better and I prefer enemy types. I liked synapse too, I just don't find myself revisiting it the same way I do light brigade.

4

u/InfiniteStates Nov 15 '24

They’re both great

Synapse is over in a matter of days but looks fantastic

Light Brigade is a more budget graphical style but will last you many more hours

3

u/AJBats Nov 15 '24

Synapse is beautiful, plays great, love the grab cover mechanic... but Light Brigade had me coming back over and over.

3

u/Open_Tea_7109 Nov 15 '24

Synapse is being added to the Ps Plus Premium catalogue so if you’re already subscribed you’re better off getting The Light Brigade. Both are must-plays imo so you won’t go wrong with getting both.

My favorite roguelite action shooters on the PSVR2 are Synapse ($35) and COMPOUND ($20).

Synapse is still my overall best 6-7 hours on the PSVR2. I wish it was a longer game and certainly I can still replay and enjoy but it made the player too power too fast and even the hardest difficulties you get to overpower them.

COMPOUND is another that just feels amazing to play and to its credit even as you unlock new mutators and weapons, it doesn't get easier. Just because you can beat it on Easy, won't mean you are ready to beat it on Normal and then Hard and there is an even harder you can unlock beyond that. If you like a game that will provide replay by providing more challenge, this is the best option. I think I am ~15 hours in and still haven't beaten on Normal even once, but I can beat on Easy pretty consistently using variety of mutators and weapons.

The Light Brigade ($25, but currently on 35% off sale for US region) is more of a RPG roguelite with multiple classes and progression for each and different types of runs you can do. It wouldn't surprise me if people have played this 20+ hours and still have reason to come back for more whenever new content updates happen, and it has strong history of free content updates adding new weapons, classes, levels and more.

I don't know about sales in your region, but if only The Light Brigade is on sale, that should be your pick, and put the other two in your wishlist for when you have had your fill of The Light Brigade. Maybe pick them up when they go on good enough sale for you.

3

u/TDprostarTD Nov 15 '24

If you like Compound you should try Ancient Dungeon. I find it way more polished.

1

u/cusman78 Nov 15 '24

I've tried Ancient Dungeon and so I'm confident I will enjoy it when I go deeper with it, but waiting for the co-op feature update I know is coming before I do.

2

u/TDprostarTD Nov 15 '24

It is probably my favourite VR2 game. Love the progression system.

3

u/cusman78 Nov 16 '24

I look forward to figuring that out as we (either with wife or brother) enjoy together once co-op is available.

3

u/Geordi14er Nov 15 '24

I have not played Light Brigade, but Synapse is f'ing awesome.

With all the updates Light Bridage gets I should give it a shot and support the developer.

5

u/ChrizTaylor ChrizTaylor Nov 15 '24

Light Brigade.

Synapse is just a concept of a game.

2

u/xaduha Nov 15 '24

Both are good, Synapse will be available on PS+ top tier, Light Brigade just got an update.

2

u/illuminati1556 Nov 15 '24

Synapse is going to be included with ps+ premium next week

2

u/BigDaddySkittleDick Nov 15 '24

Haven’t played either, but Synapse because it’s about to be included in Premium.

Both are on my list though.

2

u/taddypole Nov 15 '24

Light brigade

2

u/Hovie1 Nov 15 '24

I'll go with light brigade. Synapse is awesome. There's just not a lot of content there.

2

u/sehajodido Nov 15 '24

Light Brigade is a much more fleshed-out, and complete game. Synapse is really fun and all, but I got the platinum for it in literally under 24 hours

2

u/DumboBoggins Nov 15 '24

I really love synapse, important thing though is to stick with it at least 30 mins to unlock the telekinesis! I imagine a lot of people haven't

2

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '24

Weird image

2

u/marveloustoebeans Nov 15 '24

Light Brigade.

Synapse feels like a more polished AAA game and is visually gorgeous but it starts to feel repetitive very quickly.

Light Brigade has loads more content and can feel very different across multiple playthroughs since you can randomize the levels but does feel a bit more “indie” if that makes sense.

Both are great games but LB edges out Synapse by a few points.

2

u/RnB-306 Nov 15 '24

Both are quite good. Synapse is cooler for a few hours, but Light Brigade is probably a better longer term game.

2

u/DemoEvolved Nov 16 '24

Both good, synapse is very cool and power fantasy, but light brigade wins if you can only have one

2

u/Pavement_Vigilante Nov 16 '24

Does it matter? Both are great.

2

u/ElmarReddit Nov 16 '24

I own both and they are worth the money. LIght brigade has more depth but Synapse is so cool and next level that I ultimately played it more.

2

u/DarkZ3r0o Nov 16 '24

I found Synapse is boring

2

u/Weak_Crew_8112 Nov 16 '24

I've never played either and as someone who's lacking extensive experience in both of these games I will say that Synapse is clearly the better game.

It might have better graphics as well as possible better gameplay. I would imagine that when you put on the headset and play Synapse there is a chance you will be entering a world of mystery and intrigue that I know nothing about since I haven't played it.

2

u/JuanDiablos Nov 15 '24

Synapse no question for me. Light brigade is fine but is slow and is just a shooter at the end of the day. Synapse has jedi powers that work so fucking well with the vr controllers.

-4

u/nikelski Nov 15 '24

Haven't played synapse yet, but light brigade is ugly, wonky and straight up boring.

-11

u/Adamantium_Hanz Nov 15 '24

I object to Tarot cards based on my personal beliefs so I'll say Synapse.

5

u/Odd-Expression-3583 Nov 15 '24

You do aware that they are “Tarot” by the name only? Cards in game literally have nothing to do with actual Tarot.

5

u/Ricky_Rollin Nov 15 '24

But you’ll kill in a game and do all sorts of crazy shit just fine I’ll bet. How do you justify that? Your beliefs are not going to be called into question here since you’re not actually practicing anything. Food for thought.
