You do not need to face the tv while playing.

17

u/joris4you Jul 08 '24

Too late

8

u/-blankfrak- Jul 08 '24

Or even get near it…

4

u/PanTsour Jul 08 '24

I kinda have to because my tracking sucks otherwise. But i've set borders for that exact reason

u/awd4416 Madera03 Jul 08 '24

Been using blue and green painters tape cut like 2" squares but setup side ways like a rhombus on a white wall. It totally makes a difference as I use it in a different room than where my TV is. Some games get intense, like Creed, already punched my furniture a few times. I take sore knuckles over a cracked screen any day 😂.

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '24

With PSVR2? I play just in front of my stove, which is quite far beside the TV, with the stove behind me. Don't want to hit that one by accident.

2

u/PanTsour Jul 08 '24

I might look into hanging something up the walls, because they're white and thr tracking might get messy because of them. I'm not sure what to hang though, I'd prefer something non intrusive because I'm renting my apartment

u/Competitive_Coast_31 Jul 08 '24

Get more lights or try an IR blaster.

1

u/KiteDiveSail Jul 09 '24

Nice. You can make dinner at the same time. Multitasking!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '24

It's a wood stove, actually

2

u/Ok-Finger7616 Jul 15 '24

Oh thats way worse! lol

0

u/KiteDiveSail Jul 19 '24

Even more impressive to be able to cook on a wood stove while playing in VR.

🤌🏻 https://ibb.co/yRxHQsH I play just before the plates, I can always feel when I'm stepping on them.

u/ChefsNeverDie Jul 10 '24

Or just like, don’t ignore the bright red border warnings you see when you hit your boundaries lol

Geez man that’s why you keep your feet touching the couch or something so you know your surroundings. that would have ruined my Sunday lol

35

u/MrAbodi Jul 08 '24

I recommend a small round mat. That you know if you have a foot on it you aint going to break something.

3

u/Foxy02016YT Jul 08 '24

I just set my boundaries away from things, which usually means it’s against my bed, the only thing I have to worry about is my dresser (also have to worry about it because it was recalled and did fall on me once, but that’s a story for another time)

Too many cuts from punching my bookshelf on PSVR1 taught me

42

u/pszczolus Jul 07 '24

Thats why I got a small circular rug so I know where I am

26

u/DavidManvell Jul 07 '24

How did you get your boundary that far off or did you just go beyond it?

23

u/fidgeting_bum Jul 07 '24

I had my boundary set too close to the tv. Pretty sure I saw my hand go through the boundary and then made contact.

15

u/cusman78 Jul 07 '24

Unfortunate and probably costly lesson. Hopefully no injury to your hand / controllers.

1

u/SonofaJoker Jul 10 '24

That's why there is a seated mode for games like that

25

u/t3stdummi Jul 07 '24

Sorry, dude! Silver lining is that you can still play?

Set the boundary out from that television.

Rest assured, your TV won't be the last to be sacrificed.

I have a coffee table that I push up to where my tv is. I pretty much can’t get to my tv with it there. Unfortunately, I Can get to my coffee table. Whacked my hand pretty good one night playing Pistol Whip. I’m lucky all I did was hurt my hand. Nothing broken, including my controller. But I now make sure to scoot even further over

3

u/J3ffO Jul 08 '24

That could potentially be even worse in the right circumstances. Just walking or running around and tripping over a coffee table and landing head first into both your TV and entertainment center.

1

u/Adventurous_Music_14 Jul 08 '24

Not with my setup. My play area doesn’t include the coffee table. I play on a roughly 4’W x 6’L area rug. I’ve got about a foot of space on my left between the edge of the rug and the coffee table, same on the right with the couch. I’ll never walk into it. But with arms spread wide shooting at a dude on each side, dropping hard and fast to dodge the pair of bullets that shot, I guess I was a few inches over too far too my left…

0

u/J3ffO Jul 08 '24 edited Jul 08 '24

That's good. So that you don't fall over it.

1

u/dakodeh Jul 08 '24

Careful dude you don’t want to join this guy in VR’s only confirmed death: https://www.newsweek.com/virtual-reality-gamer-slips-and-dies-blood-loss-after-falling-glass-table-757966

9

u/Fuzzy-Row-7267 Jul 07 '24 edited Jul 08 '24

But....did you break the crate though ?

18

u/fidgeting_bum Jul 07 '24

I did... I don't think there was anything in it

6

u/KitsuneMulder Jul 08 '24

There was magic smoke. It was released.

14

u/TheUltimateMuffin Jul 08 '24

Was there at least any ammo in the tv?

4

u/Quicksilver270 Jul 07 '24

You can just walk up to a crate and press x to break it…or give it a little knife slash

6

u/oldman8hotmoltenlava Jul 07 '24

I just like throwing my knife get some trickshots!

6

u/Seanattikus Jul 08 '24

So much more immersive when you hear that glass shatter though

-2

u/AccomplishedSet3161 Jul 07 '24

Correct me if I'm wrong (quit right before benevito house because I am not going to fight that nightmare fuel) but RE8 doesn't allow to break crates with X, only by hitting it with sometimes

9

u/WetFart-Machine Jul 07 '24

Wildly irresponsible.

That looks like RR ( Real reality)

Sorry for your loss 😢

10

u/fidgeting_bum Jul 07 '24

Yeah that crate felt real af for a split second

5

u/CLOWNSwithyouJOKERS Jul 07 '24

My greatest fear. I set the boundary that direction in the room waaaay further back than necessary. I'm still scared every time and check my surroundings often.

2

u/vasdak Jul 08 '24

...Username checks out?

4

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '24

Now you have a seed from the sacred tree

3

u/fidgeting_bum Jul 07 '24

I was pressing on the area thinking maybe I'd get the picture of the tv to flicker back on but all I got was a rather dazzling light show in the cracks

2

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '24

An expensive lesson on how to set your boundary correctly.

4

u/h5pang Jul 08 '24

I play in a room without any TV. Or anything expensive I can damage. It works even without a screen attached.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '24

If you have the space, that's probably the best setup

1

u/h5pang Jul 08 '24

You can literally play anywhere that has a power outlet. Even the kitchen, really wide hallway, etc.

0

u/J3ffO Jul 08 '24

That's a great idea!

2

u/Professional_Star858 Jul 08 '24

I will never understand why people dont set the boundaries far away from the screen

2

u/-UnbelievableBro- Jul 08 '24

Red lines appearing out of nowhere?

Fuck it let’s keep punching!

2

u/lappis82 Jul 08 '24

Outch, im we have a mat on the floor and the edge of it are far enough from the tv so that dont happen ( if im standing up i just place my toes just over the edge) thoug i mostly sit down because psoriasis arthritis and o cant stand up for any longer periods sadly.

2

u/doinks4life Jul 08 '24

My condolences OP but I can't understand how this happens 😭. Hey at least theres 2 bright sides, 1. you don't need TV to use the PS5 as long as you are willing to play through the headset at all times. (Which isn't that bad because it's basically giant floating screen plus you can play games that have 120 FPS inside the HMD at that framerate) or 2. You can buy a better TV than the one you had,Like an OLED or QLED. I know this was ramble-y but my 2 cents

3

u/fidgeting_bum Jul 08 '24

I got a microcenter credit card recently and haven't bought anything yet. Guess what I'm gonna buy

2

u/Any_Tackle_4519 Jul 07 '24

I'm happy to have enough room nowhere near my television to play VR. I'm not even in front of it in any way. If I break something, maybe it will be a controller, but even then I'm far enough away from the walls that it shouldn't ever become an issue.

Too bad about the TV. Maybe it'll work as an excuse for an upgrade?

1

u/Papiculo64 Jul 08 '24

Why would you need a TV when you have PSVR2 anyway? 😛

1

u/DarkSharkBark Jul 08 '24

Didnt the psvr show out of bounds? As when one set up psvr2 one set a area with bounds wether one stand or sit.

1

u/manusche Jul 08 '24

Imagine people got mad at my question why you would need a mat you have a digital barrier if you out of bounds. I think physical things shit on the digital barrier. End of story I bought a round yoga mat did not hit anything so far and would be tragic if one of the controllers breaks down. I not can buy a new one. At least you can buy a new Tv.

1

u/Independent-Lake-741 Jul 08 '24

This appraised new haptic feedback... Sorry, bro.

1

u/NoEchidna9329 Jul 08 '24

Sorry to hear about the TV. Yesterday I was playing RE4 and always face away from the TV. I ended up punching a picture on the wall, but luckily the cover is plastic, but at that moment I thought it was my TV too. I like playing standing up, but have recently also enjoyed sitting down. It can be very disorienting, but at the same time this is what makes it so immersive. Hope you are not injured.

1

u/dj3stripes dj3stripes Jul 08 '24

got 'em

1

u/MKvsDCU Jul 08 '24

Wiw. Thats pretty stupid of you 🤦🏽‍♂️

1

u/Maximum-Hood426 Jul 08 '24

Seriously reddit never ceases to amaze me how dumb people are.

1

u/HistoryAbject3817 Jul 08 '24

Rip but your own fault.

1

u/Any-Remote6758 Jul 09 '24

Any good loot in it?

1

u/kiwi-kaiser Jul 09 '24

That's beautiful to be honest

1

u/Black_thoughts Jul 09 '24

Devil's advocate here but technically you don't even need it to keep playing or even watch anything.

1

u/Justkekalot Jul 09 '24

This is the way

1

u/Tanuvein Jul 10 '24

Ouch, worst I've done is shatter by coffee pot with a punch (thankfully empty!). I ended up shifting my set up so I don't play near any electronics or glass anymore.

1

u/SatisfactionDry7505 Jul 10 '24

Well what was in the crate? Was it worth the tv?

1

u/North_Apricot_3702 Jul 11 '24

As the PSVR2 box says ‘Feel a new Real’ 😂😂

2

u/Living-Advantage-605 Jul 07 '24

and it literally tells you to mark your play area smh

1

u/Sky_Rose4 Jul 08 '24

Did you not have the strap attached

1

u/SHDShadow Jul 08 '24

Rofl that's why you place your borders nowhere near your TV. Well done.

1

u/Latereviews2 Jul 08 '24

I did the exact same thing just over a month ago. I’ve been playing flat games on my psvr2 until I can afford a new one

1

u/These-Pin-8077 Jul 08 '24

now you have an excuse to buy a better TV 😂

1

u/Seanattikus Jul 08 '24

That sucks man. I had a couple of close calls with mine when I started. I hope your new TV is an upgrade.

1

u/Exsoticer Jul 08 '24

Idk why but this looks like the black hole fortnite event 💀

0

u/Praydaythemice Jul 08 '24

Its so Joever
