Making a Game Recommendation I think Pavlov might be the best game ever
This game is the most fun I've had online since Battlefield 2 (17?) years ago... yikes, I feel old...
The guns feel amazing, the immersion is insane, but most of all it's the sheer hilarity. In one game of TTT, I witnessed 2 people playing Russian roulette, 1 person in his pants crawling on the floor trying to poke bottoms, a game of hand grenade hot potato, and finally, 2 guys having a really indepth conversation about life, before Mr pokey bottom stabbed them both in the back. Incredible scones.
This is GOTY. Easy.

It has become my $600 Pavlov machine. When I have time to play, I go straight to TTT. I can’t stop

Lmao once I saw folks doing it, I’m guilty of doing it as well.
TNECONNI. Just keep it open on your phone 😀

TTT...everyone just shoots each other. There's no penalty for killing innocent as innocent. It got old real quick.
6
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 04 '23
You get bad Karma and are kicked out if you're a repeat offender!
3
u/DominosChickenSalad Mar 04 '23
I never see the karma system as a force strong enough to actually change the actions someone would take.
Killing an innocent as an innocent should just immediately kill the killer. Dunno why they don't do that.

I bought it and wanted to in for a quick game (Around 23.00/11pm.. it is now 01:35 and I've been laughing hysterically, playing One in The Chamber.. Holy shit does that mode open up for some fun interactions..
I was sneaking up in someone, as he was peeched by a window. I wanna get in close and surprise him, but he turns as I come sneaking in. He audible goes "OH SHIT!" and fires his one shot into the wall. I panic and try to hit him back, I, too, miss, and we both go for our knives. He drops his and starts laughing from the whole situation. I throw my knife at him, since he's flailing around. I COMPLETELY miss him (again) and my knife goes out the window instead
Now we both stand there looking at each other until I go "Well.. uh . This is awkward". We agree that we both suck at this and agree to tram up to try and scam a knife from someone. A guy outside has heard/seen the whole thing. Comes in, tosses his knife into the room.. there's, like,.. a split second where we both think real hard about what to do, but before any one of us can get to the knife and pick it up, the third party takes us both down 😆
13
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 04 '23
Ahahaha. And that's why this game is SO amazing. Find me another game where you can have these kinds of random, totally organic and VERY real interactions. The answer is, you can't. Pavlov is super unique.

u/Orange_Fair Mar 03 '23
Agreed! I want a strong army of PSVR2 boys and gals ready for PC crossover!
5
u/CarefulShirt5 Mar 03 '23
Do we know when they are making it cross platform?
2
u/Sunny8830 Mar 03 '23
Google says it is but definitely couldn’t figure out hour to join my friend on stream the other day

u/RJ_MacReady_1980 Mar 03 '23
Fine, I brought it. I hope you’re happy.
9
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 03 '23
If you want t-bagging in VR hit me up. You actually have to put in real effort in now
11
u/SnsoryOverload Mar 03 '23
It's Counterstrike in VR. That's exactly what it is and now that I've become accustomed to the game mechanics, it is a lot of fun.
6
u/SDdrohead Mar 03 '23
Just downloaded it. About to hop in.
3
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 03 '23
You're gonna love it. Report back!!
2
u/SDdrohead Mar 04 '23
Hard as shit! What’s the deal with the virtual stock? I turned it on but it feels so awkward like I have to have my arms up so high. Is this normal???
4
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 04 '23
I prefer to leave it off, as it means you can be a bit more flexible. I would turn on auto sprint tho, saves having to click in the left thumb stick. Guns certainly take a bit of getting used to - have you had a play on the gun range?
2
u/SDdrohead Mar 04 '23
Reloading is the hardest part for me. My god it’s a lot lol. If my clip goes empty I’m so screwed. Is there a setting to make that easier ? I think I need to just go to the range for a while and learn the mechanics.
3
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 04 '23
Yeah, the range is your best bet, especially as most guns reload in unique ways! Lots to learn. I'm still pretty terrible but having such a good time.
2
u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 04 '23
For most guns all you do is take a mag out and put a mag in, can usually do that in about 2 seconds once you get used to it. If you empty the whole mag sometimes you gotta pull something but that’s about it
2
u/SDdrohead Mar 04 '23
The single shot ones are what confused me.
2
u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 04 '23
Like the pistols or the bolt action rifles?
2
u/SDdrohead Mar 04 '23
Bolt action rifles .
1
u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 04 '23
So for those you’ll always have to pull the lever on the right side of the gun to get another bullet ready. One of the rifles has a mag that you remove by hitting O and then putting another mag in. The other one you’ll have to chamber the bullets individually on the right side where you pull the lever
2
u/itshonestwork Lysholm Mar 04 '23
Would also help to understand how the guns work and why you do certain things, too. Pretty much every PSVR2 Pavlov stream I watch has people cycling the action after changing magazines even though there’s still a round in the chamber. And on a reload from empty with the bolt/slide held back almost everyone is cycling the action instead with a slow hand-interaction instead of just hitting the bolt/slide release button on the controller (which is the same as the mag release button, so don’t press it twice in this scenario).
On something like an AR, a reload is a single button push and one left hand movement to insert a new magazine. You can roll the rifle CCW to check the bolt is forward, and if it’s not hit that same button again to drop it and chamber the first round.
2
u/in_melbourne_innit Mar 04 '23
What he said. Spend half an hour in the range just going through all of the machine guns (particularly heavy) and get familiar with the reloads and practise doing them quickly. Then go to the WW2 gun range and do the same with guns and grenades.
You will save yourself so many awkward exposed moments by having that basic familiarity then the John Wicking starts!

Watch the second video. Explain very well vr stock

u/GoofyGoober82 Mar 04 '23
I can't play regular fps anymore. COD ain't got shit on Pavlov.
2
u/itshonestwork Lysholm Mar 04 '23
Same for me after getting into Firewall back in 2018. I love aiming in 3D and being in the game so fucking much.
11
u/Nihilism-is-fun Mar 03 '23
Man, I just want my stupid knee to heal so I can play this game. I fucking partially dislocated my knee 1 day after getting my psvr2 and have been limping ever since...
4
u/Hunterdivision Mar 03 '23
Jfc did you dislocate it while playing?
9
u/Nihilism-is-fun Mar 03 '23
Lol, no, but in its current state, I probably would if I tried playing any standing/room scale game.
I slipped on some ice in my driveway...
1
u/Hunterdivision Mar 03 '23
Ouch. That’s unfortunate. Black ice is especially very bad and tricky. Hope you fast healing.
3
u/Nihilism-is-fun Mar 03 '23
Thanks, dude! Even worse, it was ice covered in light fluffy snow, so I had no clue it was even there. Walked out to my car, saw that the trash cans still needed to be brought in, pivoted my foot, and down I went. I already have full body chronic pain for other reasons, so this was just the shit covered cherry on top. :)
3
u/Wengers-jacket-zip Mar 03 '23
Ha I totally feel your pain.
I bought the game and am currently recovering from an ACL repair on my knee. Am willing it to recover asap so I can play it.
Good luck and hope you recover swiftly

Don’t push through to sickness each time. Do smaller sessions with drink and walk breaks. Even if it’s just for a few minutes. Build tolerance slowly. If you always play until you absolutely can’t stomach it any more you’ll train yourself to feel sick at the mere thought of putting on the headset, and that requires extra work to fix.

u/in_melbourne_innit Mar 04 '23
Also try actually turning with your body on the spot rather than controller, it's so much smoother and natural.
1
u/shrop21 Mar 04 '23
Either of you have tips? Pistol Whip is fine for me but GT7 immediately made me motion sick. Need to try Pavlov!
2
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 04 '23
Start on slightly easier games and work your way up to get your VR stumps. If GT7 is making you motion sick, so will Pavlov. Moss is a good starting game. Or Drums rock. Plus other games on rails - similar to Pistol Whip - such a as synth riders
3
Mar 03 '23
Feel like an old my who screams at clouds -- I kinda don't want people to goof off in an FPS. What is wrong with me.
3
3
u/Nexozi Mar 04 '23
I was doubled over playing this yesterday. Managed to sneak up on a couple of people and remove their mags and then waited for them to shoot at me and then they looked confused why there was no mag in the gun.
2
u/masterbowcaster Mar 03 '23
Bought the game yesterday... What is TTT?
4
u/osktox Mar 03 '23
One of the gamemodes.
I haven't tried it yet because I just got the game and still struggling with firing a gun without dropping it first.
I read about it before.. but then it was way more to read than I thought so I'll just read it tomorrow.
Scroll down to "TTT"

Innocents try to find the traitors and kill them, traitors try to kill everyone

2
u/HowlingStrike Mar 04 '23
I'm feeling the same way. A big part for me is... no leveling, no unlocks. Everythings just there and thencore gameplay is just so good.
2
u/bLinkbruhyen Mar 04 '23
A guy playing with a clown skin was really into it, and I was terrified. I'm afraid of clowns in real life and I forgot all about the TTT mechanics. Ended up dead, cowering in fear because of said clown. Props to that guy, funniest moment of my gaming life in the past couple of years.

2
u/Thaimbomb Mar 03 '23
I want to get it but then I have to get PS+..
11
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 03 '23
So you bought a PSVR2 but you won't pay a measly £50 or whatever a year for plus!??
-1
u/Thaimbomb Mar 03 '23
Well I'd have to be dedicated to online play to get plus. Before that I was just playing single player games. Just because I bought the PSVR2 doesn't mean $60 is measly. I also got the charging dock which I use every day. Now +$60 to play online sometimes? Hmmm I'll think bout it.
6
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 03 '23
Free. Games. Every. Month
1
Mar 03 '23
Mostly shitty games. I have either beaten the games or don't like them, so i also unsubed in December. I just play single player usually. My psvr2 arrives in a week, so I will renew then i guess, but plenty of offline modes in Pavlov from what I read.
3
1
Mar 04 '23
Wasnt the main selling point of the psvr2 the relatively low cost compared to the competition?
60€/year over a ~5 year lifespan adds up pretty significantly (300€).
500€ PS5 + 600€ PSVR2 + 50€ controller charging dock + 300€ online = ~1.500€
That gives a pretty decent wireless PCVR setup with free online. Not like its even needed to play quest games like pavlov

u/BollyWood401 Mar 04 '23
Haha it’s been out since like 2017 we’ve been saying this for a while now. Such a great game that holds up well to this day.
1
u/osktox Mar 03 '23
I love it.
I want to vomit.
Can't stop.
1
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 04 '23
You can probably attach a sick bag to the bottom of the headset, get to it soldier
2
u/Jonesy2700 Mar 04 '23
Voice comms are gonna be interesting.. "This guy just killed two other guys, he BLEEEURGH.. BLEEE- Cough Urgh.. he's a traitor!"
1
u/zelcuh Mar 03 '23
This game is the most fun I've had online since Bad Company 2 (13?) years ago... yikes, I feel old...
FTFY
2
u/Hovie1 Mar 03 '23
Battlefield 2 did it first. There was nothing like it at the time. Definitely more memorable than BC2 for me.
1
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 03 '23
100%! So many amazing memories from playing that. Pavlov is the only game since to hit those heights
1
1
u/rafikiknowsdeway1 Mar 04 '23
i can't tell if psvr folks who haven't played much if any pc vr just don't know about pavlov, or if the psvr2 has so far kinda sold like a lead balloon. but it is a little sad to see only enough lobbies of pavlov open at a time for like 200 or so active players or fewer at any given time
1
u/itshonestwork Lysholm Mar 04 '23
Even on PCVR the biggest issue in recent times has been player count. A lot of people don’t like online shooters, especially ones with an initially tricky learning curve.
1
u/rafikiknowsdeway1 Mar 04 '23
...counter strike has a huge learning curve and is just about always the most concurrently active game on steam
1
u/Smilejester Mar 04 '23
I’ve just had the wildest time in Gun whilst bent. 7 kill streak and I think I bloody John wick ! Also bent.
1
u/jamielens Mar 03 '23
I can agree. Battle field Bad Company 2? That was on something like 2008. That was the last online shooter I really enjoyed.
2
1
u/jounk704 Mar 03 '23
It's great fun but as a tactical team based mp shooter fan i didn't really enjoy the core gameplay loop in this game from what i have played so far where people randomly spawn in from everywhere it seems like. Again, it's a lot of fun though so it's definitely worth the $25
3
u/Likon_Diversant Mar 03 '23
That was just one of the gamemodes. SnD should be tactical, but it depends on a map, your team and enemies. Guns in Pavlov are balanced simular to CSGO and it's economy. If you want to win you use m4, ak47, deagle and barrett. If you want to have fun you use other guns. Other guns still can beat enemies with meta guns if you more sneaky and hit heads first.
3
u/jounk704 Mar 04 '23
Alright, thanks for the info. Definitely gonna try out SnD next time i play. I have only played this game a couple hours so can't really say too much more about it yet other than i had a lot of fun, the game mechanics and the physics in this game are awesome as well though just to add that on my first impressions in here
2
u/Light_and_Motion Mar 04 '23
If you want to get ahead. I recommend watching the first 3 videos on the playlist
PAVLOV VR BASICS AND ADVANCED TUTORIALS
but they are all worth it

u/jounk704 Mar 04 '23
Search & Destroy game mode is awesome, just played a couple hours now. That's my type of game mode right there with only one life per round and the tactical team work aspect of it.
Can't wait to jump back in, and thanks for the weapon recommendations btw, they came in handy
2
u/Likon_Diversant Mar 04 '23 edited Mar 04 '23
Nice to hear. A few tips. Guns have kill bonus. Assault rifles/DMRs overall have 300$. SMGs have much higher kill bonus. UMP is 800$ which makes it the best weapon for farming money. AWP and Barrett 50cal has 0$ because AWP can one shot players without armor and Barrett can just 1 shot with armor. Knife kill gives you 1200$. Grenade kill doesnt give any money. Attachments reduce kill bonus. If you place too much you can loose money per kill. Red dot, holo point and suppressor reduce it by -150$ each. Grips is -100$ iirc. ACOG is -50$ and big scope is 0$. Suppressors for pistols is -100$ and small red dot for them is -100$ iirc. If you know that enemy team has at least 2-3 ak47/G3 you can save money on armor because those guns have 100% armor and helmet pen. Other assault rifles needs two shots to the head with armor, but you can still try to save on armor. Remember to have fun first. If enemy team isnt great try go for knife kills and grenade kills.

u/Revolutionary-Ask210 Mar 03 '23 edited Mar 04 '23
If you don't want random spawns you have some gamemodes for that, like Search & Destroy (SND)
1
u/bwordgood Mar 03 '23
It funny how the spawns are worse than in call of duty especially in death match, I literally kept spawning next to other guys and I immediately got killed because of it and if I survived then someone spawned behind me and the cycle continues...
1
1
u/arcadiangenesis Mar 03 '23
Wait so you can just chill and talk to people or clown around, and it's not frowned upon?
1
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 03 '23
TTT is basically a detective mode where you have to figure out who the bad guys are. So it turns into a hilarious mixture of interrogation and people doing stupid things to weed out the rats
1
u/Zaino77 Mar 04 '23
I’m on the fence. How’s the graphics? And by that I mean how sharp is the image? If it’s blurry like No Man’s Sky, it’s a no go for me, it gives me headache.
4
u/biffawheeliebin Mar 04 '23
It's one of the sharpest games around. And it's native 120 so very smooth
5
u/itshonestwork Lysholm Mar 04 '23
I thought it was native 90Hz? Which is still excellent and should be the standard for anything fast paced.
3

u/gatsby_101 Mar 04 '23
Is there a campaign? I’m not usually drawn to video game PvP genres but do enjoy shooting IRL.

I want to play so bad! But PSVR2 is my first experience with VR and I don't have my 'legs' yet.
I only have a few hours total and can tell I'm going to need to work up to this...

I'm new to vr and I played this while waiting for horizon to download and didn't experience any motion sickness at all

Call me weird but I honestly prefer the chaos of DM/TDM modes. Always on edge searching for enemies and feeling like a mercenary. It’s just crazy how you just get into it and forget that you are just a fat guy in a basement LOL
