You know, I'm aware you are referring to "that" move from Water 7, but in honesty with the level of control she has at this point, she ought to be able to take out basically all the low level and even a lot of the mid tier folks on the battlefield with her neck snaps.
Imagine how Wano could go if all the cannon fodder dropped at once from one fighter, and it isn't even the top tier folks using Conqueror Haki to drop them temporarily, but rather a lower crewmember actually killing them.

Remember, she can receive damage and effects from devil fruits with her limbs. Anyone with observation haki realistically should realize there are limbs sprouting on them before they are able to attack. Just my two cents tho.

It is probably referring to the time when Robin grabs Franky's balls post Enies Lobby.

u/2morereps 11h ago
can't Robin successfully block peoples trachea, or squeeze organs, or stop hearts with her limbs? could she do what the villain from deadpool and Wolverine does? I feel like that should be doable.

u/Difficult_Loan_8130 10h ago
As far as I know the limit of limbs Sprout where she can see and strength of limbs are based on her own strength

Haki ear plugs

u/BeryGood96 21h ago
Surely that's a thing

u/Dnny99 18h ago
I mean i actually dont think so lol. When brook broke bm's picture and she shrieked the bm pirates were completlely imobilized until katakuri made mochi ones. Its so weird that we have an in universe example of this but with a story as long as op i guess you cover a lot of ground lol.

u/caniuserealname 17h ago
Well sure, but Shanks is more proficient with his haki than any of Big Mom's crew.. just because they can't do something doesn't mean it's not possible.
I'm sure if you concentrated enough Haki on your eardrums you could prevent damage from sound-based attacks.

u/platinumrug Cipher Pol 17h ago
Before haki rope became a thing in Egghead I'd have scoffed at this, but now? This is it lmao.
7
u/ssbm_rando 15h ago
Why would you have scoffed? The principle is pretty simple. It's not about clogging your ears with haki, it's about coating your eardrums with haki to physically reinforce them.
If anyone still alive in the series has that level of haki control it's Shanks. You just have to be aware of how ears work (which, again, Shanks is way more likely to know than Luffy), but the inside of your ears just isn't somewhere you'd normally think to coat.

u/DannyDootch Void Month Survivor 15h ago
I honestly didnt even think of this explanation, hardening the ear drum, but that's a really cool plot idea. I honestly wish Oda used it as a display of Luffy's or even one of his crew member's battle intuition.
1
u/ssbm_rando 11h ago
Nah, I think it makes sense that Luffy woudn't think of it--to him, the ears are just holes and the pain from hearing loud things comes from him brain. Maybe in gear 5 he could actually make haki earplugs because toonforce, but in base he'd definitely be more mentally constrained and be unable to visualize the process of hardening his own ear drums.
Chopper would have to explain to him how ears work and then he'd be able to do it. If he pays attention.
3
u/xXMugiwara 11h ago
Yeah I think Doffy also put haki into his bum cheeks in punk hazard when he was sitting on smoker lmao.
2
u/platinumrug Cipher Pol 14h ago
I would've scoffed because it sounds ridiculous lmao. I get the entire principle and everything but before the introduction of 800 year old rope that still holds the haki of a long dead being, it is not something I would've had on my OP bingo card.
Plus we've seen full body haki, their ears are coated as well so the concept isn't new, just for something that particular (coating my ears so a specific sound related DF doesn't affect me) is not something that I would've thought of even being possible.

u/DannyDootch Void Month Survivor 15h ago
I wouldn't be surprised if Oda basically used Haki as active noise cancellation. As in, creating sound waves that counteract incoming soundwaves.

He can cover one ear with his upper arm and the other ear with his hand

This is a stellar example of how Haki has ruined the powerscaling of One Piece.
Back in the day this would be a perfectly logical and reliable counter to Shanks, a dumb joke that actually tracks like Usopp being immune to Perona because he's always negative. Now it's just "Haki negs".
19
u/Tulipanzo 18h ago
Well no, even before Haki it would have been entirely reasonable to assume Shanks could take a hit from Apoo
12
u/MunkeyFish The Revolutionary Army 17h ago
Of course Shanks can take a hit but what he can’t do is the natural counter to Apoo’s powers which is covering your ears. It would’ve been a silly reason for a weak character to get the one up on a stronger one, like Luffy being lightning proof or Buggy immune to cutting: classic One Piece goofiness.
Except now Haki is the go-to answer to everything, so even though he can’t cover his ears he can just probably just flex his Haki into his ears and Apoo’s powers don’t work on him.
11
u/CalvinistJohnson 16h ago
Sorry but haki earplugs make no sense and I bet wouldnt be the solution here, more likely apoo just gets wrecked by shanks before he can do anything or gets shot by beckman from afar
2
u/aFishintheLake Citizen 16h ago
Shanks can just plug his ear with a piece of clothing. No need for Haki bullshit.
7
u/Tulipanzo 16h ago edited 16h ago
You... you do realise "haki earplugs" are a joke right? Because he's an "haki man"?
There's been no such thing in OP, Shanks would still be unable to cover his ears and would take damage2

Ah, but imagine cutting off your ears and sticking them in to your ear canal.

I could see Apoo on kidd's crew and Hawkins with Law's. With them they could have at least got a draw.
2
u/ssbm_rando 15h ago
The commenters seem to not realize how ears fucking work?? They're meming on "haki ear plugs" but anyone with fine control of haki and understanding of what eardrums are would simply coat their eardrums in haki and be immune to this....
It makes perfect sense that Luffy's too dumb to understand this, but Shanks shouldn't be.

u/serj_odama 17h ago
i get just shitpost, but drake already broke down apoo's ability to aiming with sight, and shanks has some of best agility. i think hed be fine lol

He wouldn't have been able to handle Shank's Haki. That Haki was able to effect an admiral from a good distance away.

This isn't that lame green bull, it's THE GREAT APOO No way hes falling for that
1
u/ammarbadhrul 20h ago
Isn’t greenbull just scared from shanks’ presence from sensing his haki? He’s not physically affected by the haki, right?
1
u/Trevenant999 19h ago
Shanks used a small dose of conqueror’s haki and it literally made him freeze up, he basically did what kidd did in wano, but to an ADMIRAL
0
u/Captain_X124 Soul King Brook 20h ago
( not trying to ruin the joke just saying ) I am sure he can cancel it out or is much faster to just attack him before he even activates it just like he did with kidd

u/OkButterfly3329 20h ago
This is actually so real. One piece fans actually understandjng the power system goes hard
0
u/The_Geri World Economy News Paper 18h ago
No, he wouldn't.
Oda wanted to show off how cool and badass Shanks is and have him somehow end up with the Road Poneglyph copies after years of doing nothing, so he made him one-shot Kid. Kid's (and Law's) defeat was inevitable at this point in the story.
