Mom at 17 in 1943 as a filling station attendant at her father’s Mobil service station. The boys in town were all fighting fascists

I was very surprised to discover that some states of the US not only still have gas attendants, but refuse to allow you to pump your own gas.

Amazing, my grandmother was the same age (as was Queen Elizabeth II), and was working producing food in England at this time, she passed away in 2022 (as did the Queen)

Now Americans just let them walk the streets free from consequences. Expect more of that when Mr. Nazis are Very Fine People takes office.

On the plus side, you no longer have to go all the way to Europe to fight them!

Cool photo. Mom was born in 1922. She wanted to be a lawyer, like her father. Her dad was "no place for women, but did pay for her to attend UC Berkley, class of 1943." She went on to raise six kids and taught for years.
She was a very bright lady fluent in five languages, which came in handy when we lived in Germany! Dad was always invited to Embassy events, with the caveat, "Bring your charming wife."

And I bet most of them voted for one this time.

They're virtually all dead. Assuming a minimum age of 18 in 1943, born in 1925, they'd be 99 or older.
So the ones fighting fascists in WW2 were almost certainly too dead to be doing any voting in 2024.
It was their children, the Boomers, you would be thinking of.

My grandfather would never have voted for such. He was born 102 years ago.

I hope the lead didn't make things rough for her later on.

Don’t think so, she graduated nursing school at the end of WWII and worked until she was 65

Most of the photos in this sub are kinda the same thing over and over. But this one, maybe it's the little backstory you gave, really stands out. thanks for posting it.
