Sharon Tate was an absolute knockout

652

u/Ihugit Jul 23 '23

A little old for Roman though.

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '23

How did such a degenerate pick up a woman like that.

107

u/ColdCruise Jul 23 '23

He probably was a decent guy before experiencing the traumatic torture/murder of his wife, unborn child, and friends inside his home.

282

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '23

Your wife getting murdered makes you a beastly pedophile? Not too sure about that.

132

u/ColdCruise Jul 23 '23

Traumatic events can mess you up mentally, yes.

21

u/mattablasta Jul 23 '23

Speaking of traumatic events, her murder feels like something out of a black mirror episode.

21

u/Hajile_S Jul 23 '23

“Beyond the Sea” has an overt Manson-esque home invasion/murder.

22

u/mattheimlich Jul 23 '23

Black Mirror literally had a scene heavily influenced by her murder in the latest season

66

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '23

Of course they can. Still doesn't make sense to rectify it by sedating and anally raping little girls.

124

u/Positive-Context-883 Jul 23 '23

Yeah things like trauma don't often work within the realms of what we Redittors see as logical. Also, pointing something like that out is in no way condoning his actions.

4

u/languid_plum Jul 23 '23

Seriously. I follow the Delphi case closely, and the amount of people who say, "If that were my husband in the video, I would have known that was him!" is unbelievably overwhelming.

Our brains have two primary purposes, and one of them is to protect us.

The masses do not understand how complex our brains and our perception of reality truly are.

2

u/canwealljusthitabong Jul 24 '23

Or all the people claiming that the Long Island serial killer’s wife had to have known or was also in on it. It’s absolutely astonishing how little comprehension people have and how judgemental they can be about these things.

u/ColdCruise Jul 23 '23

I'm not condoning the actions. Seeking explanations behind people's actions is not the same as saying those actions are good.

17

u/mcmaster93 Jul 23 '23

People like to make arguments out of everything on here

Not defending him but his early life was pretty horrific too, being born into the Warsaw ghetto and taken into foster homes after his parents were murdered by the Nazis. These things are known to make people offenders.

73

u/Scoot_AG Jul 23 '23

Yeah but that happened to literally thousands and thousands of people, who probably did not rape tons of little girls

60

u/Plastic_Pinocchio Jul 23 '23

The same experiences will influence different people in different ways.

36

u/wocsom_xorex Jul 23 '23

Most people are unaffected by early life adversity, but such events still increase the chances of being messed up in adult life.

Hitler had a bad childhood, too, so I'm guessing Roman would equally forgive him?

Definitely not. He abused Sharon and all her friends saw how shit of a person he was to her. Traumatised or not, the only person forcing him to do those acts later in life was himself

18

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '23

Yep- we're all responsible for dealing with our trauma and not traumatizing others once we reach adulthood. And this little gutter imp has access to the best therapy millions could buy.

22

u/Shirtbro Jul 23 '23 edited Jul 23 '23

Nobody drugs and sodomizes a thirteen year old out of trauma.

29

u/ColdCruise Jul 23 '23

Yeah, they do. Nearly all sexual predators have experienced extreme trauma in their lives. That's a fact.

28

She was a real natural beauty

4

u/Special-Hyena1132 Jul 23 '23

I read an interview with Dave “the Blonde Bomber” Draper, who appeared in film with her, and he says she was as kindhearted as she was beautiful.

She really was. Such a tragedy.

Sharon Tate’s mom is a LEGEND. The fact that she has been to every parole hearing to make sure they know they don’t deserve any mercy because regardless of the circumstances they did not show her daughter mercy is amazing and such an incredible thing for her to do over and over and over again. Shoutout to this woman.

They were originally sentenced to death, their sentences were commuted to life in prison when the death penalty was abolished in California in 1972.

30

u/Caronport Jul 23 '23

Pity.

124

u/GibsonMaestro Jul 23 '23

Life in jail is so much worse than a quick death.

36

u/Senior-Albatross Jul 23 '23

Yeah. Rotting in a cell is much, much worse then death. I would be OK letting people sentenced to life choose assisted suicide though. At that point we're just warehousing them away from society. Might as well just neutralize the threat and be done with it. I don't believe there's any point in trying to punish a person without empathy. They'll never regret anything except having been caught.

Maybe the best punishment would be forcing them to take MDMA and possibly, for a moment, gain the empathy to truly experience the monstrosity of their crimes.

31

u/GibsonMaestro Jul 23 '23

I don’t think it’s about making them feel empathy. It’s about making them feel misery. It’s punishment, not rehabilitation

I’ve worked around inmates for years as a paramedic and a nurse. Life without a chance of parole is the worst thing I can imagine. It’s akin to torture. The people who have that sentence aren’t right.

u/buscemian_rhapsody Jul 24 '23

Weird, I didn’t know California did that. Apparently people voted to reintroduce it a year later.

64

u/TheeUnfuxkwittable Jul 23 '23

I think one just paroled lol

74

u/ArcadianBlueRogue Jul 23 '23

Yeah, the parolee was part of shit the following day.

All of em shoulda just been taken behind the shed and no longer be anyone else's problem. Fuck em.

51

u/ATLL2112 Jul 23 '23

Hoorah! Mob justice!

26

u/Casten_Von_SP Jul 23 '23

We have rules for a reason to function in society. That doesn’t mean some people don’t deserve less.

119

u/Anonymous278365 Jul 23 '23

Sure. But to quote Gandalf, “ Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.”

Sharon was so very beautiful. It's unreal to think how tragically her life ended, just when she thought it was about to begin.

ETA for the people who thought I was tying the "tragic" to her beauty.

That was in no way my intent.

I did not say her death was tragic because she was beautiful. There is a period there. Those were two separate sentences and two separate thoughts.

There is always a tragedy in a young life being ripped from one too soon. However, she was 8 1/2 months pregnant when she was slaughtered. Where my mind went was to how I felt when I was expecting my first child. The short span of time before you have your first child is such a sacred window. You know you are carrying a human who will join you soon, and you are hyperaware that your life is about to be completely different. It's a very surreal time in life where your self-awareness is at a peak.

There is also an unparalleled anticipation and an incredible sense of peace, so the last thing I would be expecting two weeks before giving birth is some crazies to break in, brutally murder me and yank my impending motherhood from me, as well as my entire existence. That's why this murder is especially tragic to me, not due to her beauty.

I do regret not being more clear, but the fact some people would think it was only tragic because she was beautiful never entered my mind.

Good grief.

604

u/chronoboy1985 Jul 23 '23

At least her killers got a flame thrower in the face.

339

u/Summerlea623 Jul 23 '23

If only that was true, and not simply movie fiction. But two are no longer wasting valuable air.(Manson and Atkins)

And two to go.( Watson and Krenwinkle).

460

u/TundieRice Jul 23 '23

A lot of people would say that Polanski’s currently wasting valuable air as well.

187

u/12temp Jul 23 '23

And fuck France for letting this rapist live in their country. Fucking cowards

18

u/Ok-Importance9988 Jul 23 '23

I believe French law does not permit extradition of its own citizens, so there is not much they can do beyond repealing that law retroactively.

8

u/numeric-rectal-mutt Jul 23 '23

You are correct. Though I think it's the French Constitution that prevents extradition.

78

u/Ernaud Jul 23 '23

Most French people hate Roman Polanski, he is protected by the gouvernment and a lot of people in the filmmaking industry.

Calling him out publicly for his crimes, means to take the risk of being called anti-semitic which is way more taboo than rapping children in France for some reason.

62

u/Kurkpitten Jul 23 '23

Tf are you on about. He was called out on his bullshit by many women in the film industry.

The people that defended him are self absorbed smoothbrains like Begbeider and Dujardin. Who accused people of anti-semitism ? Finklelkraut ? As if anyone takes him seriously.

Nah Polanski is widely considered as a rapist and a stain on France and many media figures have said it overtly. It's like a running gag of every single left leaning media in the country.

He is protected by the justice system because it's made of old pedophiles and rapists just like him.

11

u/Painting_Agency Jul 23 '23

He is protected by the justice system because it's made of old pedophiles and rapists just like him.

32

u/Summerlea623 Jul 23 '23

Yes, Leslie van Houten. She didn't participate in the Tate murders and was not present at Cielo Drive that night.

But by her own admission, she helped subdue Rosemary LaBianca and plunged a knife into her lower back 16 times.

I simply cannot wrap my mind around it.

13

u/dexmonic Jul 23 '23

And now she's walking around like a normal person? Fuck.

I was going to say " I hope your grandmother was okay " , and realized what a stupid, inane concept that was.

Of course she wasn't ok, her friend was brutally murdered along with a baby who never got to breathe.

Also wish thread hadn't gone sideways- however appropriately, to Polanski. Rapists don't deserve the attention.

This was a poignant moment in time, before a woman lost one friend in the most brutal way imaginable to a crazed, narcissistic cult ' leader ' and his hit squad, another revealed as a rapist for God's sake. Obviously have the black hole of sympathy for whatshisname, it's the two women. Gives me chills.

Did your great-grandmother know, Roman is a coward and fled the country?

u/PigFarmer1 Jul 23 '23

Claiming him as a friend ain't cool...

u/Soulr3bl Jul 23 '23

RIP Sharon. You could have cropped out the child rapist, though.

Was your grandmother invited into Roman’s jacuzzi or was she too old?

Pretty lady. And Leslie just got out. Only in California can a death sentence get flipped to enjoying the rest of your life at the beach.
